  1. What caused the sub to blow? We don't want you to get another sub and that one blow too. Do you know the reason? It's true, if you can make straight cuts with a saw then you can make a ported box. I can design a box and give you a cut sheet for you to use to help you make the box. Just let me know.
  2. Well you're on the SSA forum so why not check out the subs they offer or the brands they carry. A SSA Icon could be a good option for example.

    Looks like an Icon.
  5. How do you know the enclosure is to spec? Have you measured it and done all the calculations? Is the SSF (subsonic filter) set correctly on the amp? Just because the shop "says" the box is to spec doesn't mean that it is. As a matter of fact some shops will seldom build a custom enclosure to the specs a person asks for because it's a lot of trouble. They just kind of build it close and call it good from most I've seen. If they didn't build you a custom enclosure and it's in a pre-fab I can almost guarantee it's nowhere near the right specs. On top of that if the SSF isn't set right and you're playing it below tuning (which is very easy in a pre-fab enclosure as most are tuned above 40hz) the sub could be unloading and causing that noise in that case.
  6. Any good shop should just add in the 30 dollar volt meter and show someone what to watch for. Dont understand why shops Never do this. Guess thats why I do 100% of all my builds
  7. There is no way you only have one red top battery and big 3 for 2400 watt amp and your voltage stays at 14.3volts. Measure your voltage when system is playing to see how well your voltage is maintaining, if it dips bad then you need more electrical. I still to this day dont understand why people dont install volt meters when installing a system over a 1000 watts, just baffles me.
  8. Let me use a theoretical for you. What I see you saying is that if I buy a 1000w amp to replace a 1000w amp it should be a huge difference. That is crazy. In particular when if you had a 750w amp and bought a 1000w you wouldn' hear a difference. Your ears aren't all that sensitive to volume differences. Takes doubling of power to get you anywhere. That all being said, you have an installation problem you NEED to fix. There is something wrong. Not saying your amp isn't a piece of crap, but don't go buy a new one to HEAR something different. Bassink linked all budget amps as well so it isn't like you are jumping up into uber quality. So seriously, fix the install and REALLY determine what is happening before spending money. Be rather stupid to do it any other way.
  9. Doubt what you are experiencing is the amp. Don't like it, but an amp is pretty much an amp when operating in its appropriate zone. Yours isn't and that is the problem. Replacing it with something else will gain you nothing. Reality check for you. If that amp only does 75% of rated power even going to 125% with another won't give you an audible gain. Replacing it is the last thing you should do, trouble shooting why it's acting like a bitch is the first.
