  1. Why did you take the time to type this?
  2. A huge congratulations going out to TeamSSA Zack Metts, Jose Ortega & crew for bringing home the 2014 Heavyweight Bass Boxing belt! (5 Time Bass Boxing Belt Winner) What a major accomplishment, great job guys, we couldn't be more proud!
  3. I am finally getting around to showing SSA what my build consists of. I am currently on the second build in this truck so there will be more pics than talk pic of the truck when I purchased it in 2012 pic of my first singer alt 300 amp my first set up in the truck, DC lvl 4's on a DC 5k so pretty lil dash work if you will original box and set up subs loaded 5k mounted
  4. As a person currently using a 10" XCON on 1500 watts I will second Sean's recommendation on the 10" ported. Unless you're simply used to the abusive output of a pair of 15's or something similar I don't think the 10" XCON will disappoint. I get all the output I want from mine with the PR's which isn't as efficient in output as a standard ported enclosure (better than sealed though). I've been tempted to go ahead and build a standard ported enclosure for it to play with but I'm not real keen on having to remove and reinstall the screws in the sub since I went through a great deal of trouble to ensure I had a perfect seal on the PR enclosure. Anywho, my recommendation and vote would be for one of the 10's ported and my recommendation would also sway more toward the XCON. I think Aaron's quote in my signature on the difference between the ICON and XCON subs speaks volumes.
  5. quick answer 10" Xcon ported because it stays within your enclosure size. The Xcon is an Icon on steroids, it can sound great but get loud doing it
  6. All this talk of firearms is making me want to blow shit up. Is always a good stress reliever.
  7. Awesome build David! Congrats on the finals and nice to meet you!
  8. Experience trumps knowledge every timr.No offense, but in my experience that's something people with no degree say to justify their lack of higher education. Your statement is definitely true in many cases, but also very wrong in many others. I have hired several people who have absolutely proven that statement wrong many times over. One of them still works for me...not enough to justify firing her yet...but should have all the experience needed to excel, and absolutely does not. Performance is average on her best day. I went to what was ranked as the 2nd best college in the nation, have a Physics degree and no one has ever yet cared about my education. My experience, absolutely. I also ignore degrees pretty much when I hire. Yep. I agree 200%. I don't have a college education and you will find very few technicians in this nation who can, and do, perform at the level that I do. Without blowing smoke up my own ass, I feel I am in the top 5% of techs in this country, my coworker said he feels I am in the top 2-3%. I work hard, and work very well. I worked while cancer was destroying my body, I went to work puking from chemo, I went to work when I was unable to walk across my shop. Even being that ill I performed at a greater level than 2 of 4 other techs at my shop. I have worked with techs who have engineering degrees, and in fact I work with a guy with his engineering degree. His drive to work is no where near my level. He is quick to leave when he has no work or if he has to go hunting. He feels he is so smart that his time is best spent elsewhere if he is not seeing the hours he wants. I have found that people who hide behind "those without a degree are lazy" are hiding their laziness behind their degree. But what do I know? I am a long haired druggie, alcoholic who doesn't have to scrape up a few pennies for a POS car... in mmy early 40s I had enough money to retire comfortably... but I don't have a degree, all I have is a little experience; so I must not work hard. I am glad a dude like Sean can see past a piece of paper. It is leaders like him, with vision, who realizes that a degree means very little compared to drive and experience.
  9. This is my first time at Finals and my second year competing, 4th place 1501-up superstock same deal here, Finals 3rd place Street beat 3
  10. Needless to say, I was happy with my score. It jumped 3 tenths, just pulling in the lanes. Caught me off guard. Though, my scores were gaining all weekend. I managed to gain up to 161.9 as my personal best. Finally beat my camaro best if 161.2. Next stop-162.
  11. Stve and I loaded up and headed out to World finals in Nashville
  12. This is the final product for now, I am going to try some new things and see if I can get a little more out of the equiptment I have.
  13. I need to redo the heat shrink, it's sorta upside down.
  14. Here is a picture of the amps mounted for a test fit, sorta...
  15. amp rack , this is where the 10k rests, lol
  16. finishing work on the door panels wrapping the box pillars done and installed wrapping the floor
  17. the floor with just two of the batteries, test fit a few of the wires heat shrunk passenger side frame grounds drivers side frame grounds, ruberized coating sprayed over the ground spots lil more mess speaker inputs for the DC 10k major oops, Dc xl after I crossed a wire ( my fault) my first recone, flawless victory new box being built, ram designs tuned to 35hz singer hair pin w/ GM regulator pic next to the stock smaller case BAM box braced before last coat of resin lil more progress
  18. deciding where to put the 5.25's starting the pillars starting the doors
  19. What exactly is your goal ? When you strap two amps, each amp will effectively "see" half the load. So a 1ohm load strapped on 2 amps would mean each amp would be operating at .5ohm, below their recommended range and risking damage. Not recommended. When strapped, the lowest (safe) nominal load that can be ran to those amps is 2ohm. The other option is to buy a second amp and run one to each coil. But then each amp would be driving a 2ohm load and the net power to the subwoofer would be virtually the same, so absolutely no gain there. So either way your plan of purchasing a second amp is not going to work out. From what I could find that sub is rated at 1500w RMS, and you already have 1200w on it...so I don't see increasing power as a viable option anyways. Even if it were, I'm assuming your goal is to get louder...adding more power is the least effective manor of doing so. With the power compression and already being near the driver's limits power handling wise I doubt it would make much of an audible difference if any. Look at redesigning the enclosure first if you are looking to increase output.
