  1. No disrespect brother...But I studied this field for years.. Then give arguments that are based on facts and can be checked. (maybe even provide a source while you're at it.) How are Octogonal ports ever going to give more port area that the same size circle, not to mention a square port. EDIT: yes, I actually made this in paint.
  2. No disrespect brother...But I studied this field for years.. ummm shit posting is meant for the hop.
  3. Maybe you would like to post this on your site so they could be more than 2 sections to search...Never buy a used sub! really? many people buy and trade used drivers on this site and others, if OP is aware of the risks than who cares. you've made your point by now i think.
  4. Just wondering at work of what different combo's I can come up with for under 150.00 from component s to pro audio...for your basic front stage set up So for I think the silver flutes are on the top 5
  5. Some people can see this and use it for help...so it might be fun for me if you think so but not for other I can even learn something like different audio brands out there...plus don't you want to no how something sound before you buy it...just say but hey I'm just a newbi you can get a pretty good idea of how something sounds from proper measurement. so if you dont see those measurement advertised then its probably a shit product (aka, almost every "car audio" speaker/comp out there). id spend that 150 on shit to improve your current install, sound deadener or maybe a minidps and go active on your components if you have enough channels on your amp.
  6. What ever I'm at work...board put my mine so what ever anybody comes up with
  7. Couple of things to point out about this thread- 1) The RMS rating is NOT a power requirement, nor is it any indication of how loud a driver will get with a certain amount of power. I has no relation to output whatsoever, it is simply a thermal rating of the voicecoil, nothing else. Do not base anything output wise off of an RMS rating, period. 2) The nominal impedance is an average rating, your overall alignment determines the final load the amplifier sees. Don't assume that an amplifier will be putting out half the power if you double the driver impedance. 3) There is no such thing as underpowering...
  8. While I don't want to see anyone leave, I see your post as pure hypocrisy. I have seen you criticizing others and your inability to cope with their disagreement to your opinion. You appear to be the one who is "butthurt," hence your leaving. Calm down, take a step back, and look at it from another perspective. Ok! fine I will stay you talked me into it An my butt actually is hurting.. I have a big chunk of meat hanging out of it and the ointment does not seem to be working anymore:huh2:If your going to peck at other people you better be ready to take some pecking back when it comes at you. Are you saying you want to peck me? I am saying you are worse than some of my ex girlfriends. If you get sand in your vagina and want to leave, then leave. No need to announce it, this isn't FB.
  9. Honestly for $150? Parts Express reference mids and tweeters run active, as a passive network would blow the budget out of the water... My goal would be to simply sound good...
  10. I hear you, a lot of guys use them because they don't really understand how air behaves at resonance. But like I said, simple Google search will give you area and angles.
  11. Cancellation? Please do some research on how how drivers (fed the same signal or no signal) behave above resonance in a common enclosure...
  12. It is T/S parameters. You can place ANY two drivers in the same enclosure. Above resonance, they work in tandem, period. As long as they have similar specifications and linear excursion, they will be fine.
  13. They are simply used for cosmetic reasons, there is no performance increase whatsoever. In fact, they may decrease vent efficiency due to non-linear airflow behavior. If you must use one, just Google geometric area and angle formulas.

  15. You're better off going to different audio sites and see what they offer if this is juet for fun.
  16. I know its probably to early to ask, but will your price be lower than the TL?
  17. Easy, whatever fits your budget, space requirements, power requirements, cosmetics etc. Flip a coin
  18. Nice I will try to get my Barbra Ann posted soon..I been trying to decide if I want the Barbara Ann or go with a class D amp, 16.5" for a front stage amp is killing me.
  19. Sorry to hear that man
  20. Just the mids or mids and tweeters for $150

I would not never recommend buying a used sub..As you never know what abuse it has seen for $275.00 you could get a brand spanking new woofer at the SSA store..

  25. Air velocity was more the factor than "cosmetics" and less port noise VIA "more port area" with the octagon ports.. Port area is what you said. Air velocity was more the factor than "cosmetics" and less port noise VIA "more port area" with the octagon ports.. Port area is what you said. Well maybe I should have said volume You know what I was getting at Smaller the volume faster air travels..Larger volume slower the velocity is what I was getting at.

  28. The op asked for advise for the ports....stay on topic if you can't help somebody can...
