  1. Alright, I've seen teaser pictures of them posted on Facebook and not a word about them here on the forum. Come on Aaron, Mark, Josh, someone, it's time to spill the beans!! Give us some details, basic information, something to satisfy the curiosity about them!! Please???
  2. Sorry, I have been leaking little bits here and there. It has been a very long (a year) process to get these off the ground. Because these buggers are NOT a basic overhung 1" or 1.5" coil, it took time to get parts and get the design right. Not to mention some changes at the factory that caused a number of delays. Ok, so these are a copper coil, shorting ring, solid pole, phase plug, underhung design. In final testing, they are a very very clean, warm sound. They were right at home in an IB rig that Neal helped out on big time, so dropping into an average car door is excellent. The Evil6.5's have push terminals that are good for 10 gauge wire. Nomex spiders, so they will able take the same long term abuse that the SSA subs are known for. Also, the glass fiber cones that were available, performed a little better than the poly cones in testing. I will probably be setting these at 120-150rms. Specs are below, on the bottom right. Follow the green slope for the production model. I had put together a slightly different model to see what combination of aspects were the best performing for our goals, so ignore the purple slope and specs on the left.
  3. They are on Facebook, found them.Hell you even commented on the post...lol
  4. yay....on a Spirit Airline plane. Pray for my safe arrival lol. Almost as bad as my $16 air Asia flight
  5. 1. Yes, all the SSA subs are designed for sounding good primarily and getting loud is right behind that. 2. It will sound great in a sealed enclosure! You will get more output from it in a ported enclosure at the cost of the additional space requirements, no real loss of sound quality in a properly designed and built ported enclosure. 3. It has a large range of 2.75cuft to 5.0cuft. The best way to know the optimal size in that range is to model the response in some software and pick the size that gives you the response you prefer. 4. No, the .18cuft of subwoofer displacement is additional to the enclosure size. 5. There's no real "best" when it comes to enclosure dimensions. I read about a thing called a "Golden Ratio" several years ago but in most vehicles it's pretty much impossible to keep the ratio perfect, besides the difference would only be measurable not audible. 6. I am certain the amp is only 4 ohm stable bridged, which means that the power output would be 720x1 at 4 ohms. Wired just like the diagram shows your amp, the sub and yourself will be very happy!
  6. I loved all the SSA subs I had : Icon, Xcon, and now Zcon ! This Gcon should sound good in a sealed box. Specs must be listed on the site. Run this amp in 2 channel mode on this sub if you want. Usually bridge mode is at 4 Ohms, but I don't know this amp.
  7. Sounds like a super double top secret they are keeping from us.
  8. The GCON has a plug in the pole so rear clearance is not really an issue. The GCON works well in a sealed enclosure.
