  2. This video is a love song to the E60 M5.
  3. olympics lol ( i have nothing aginst the irish. but this is funny ) catch all the leprechauns lol
  4. Those builds will come at a later time.
  5. Latest update, thank you Sean for sending me this.
  6. Some pictures from the Jeep trip this weekend We climbed up to a 6000 ft summit, did almost 150 miles of off-roading in the first day, saw some 2000-odd year old fortifications, did some more technical tracks on the third, and finally visited a medieval castle on the fourth day. This is the sacred area of an 2000 year old "city", before the Romans conquered what was then called Dacia and is now called Romania. Much of it, like the road in the first picture, is still buried because it's too expensive to dig it up and preserve everything. Treasure hunters also did a lot of damage.
  7. I saw the news video on that.
  8. Wild looking enclosure.
  9. Way to come back with an update, enclosure is looking good so far. What sub are you using?
  10. Something you can try, and no, I'm not saying this works on every application. Proper phase is a must too. If you know what a proper phase sounds like, you can tell immediately when a vehicle you demo is out of phase. USACI has a great test CD to test phase. I've seen time when people changed the phase on their drivers to raise the stage. Usually changing the phase of the midrange / tweet out of phase with the midbass drivers. When I ran 2 way passive, my tweeters were out of phase with the lower drivers. Worked great !!! Now like I said, may work ... may not. All depends on application, hence the reason for asking if you have factory dash locations. Trial and error and see what happens. Good luck.
  11. So many processing options it isn't all that big of a deal. Considering some of the old Eclipses are pennies on the $ I wouldn't worry so much. Processing is getting easier to supply, not harder Still it is a fantastic headunit.
  12. IMO the 80/88prs has one thing for novice tuners that no other headunit has and that is L/R independent eq. HUGE for tuning. Also, most decks have parametric which in reality are more effective when utilized correctly but way harder to use so it really gives the prs a monstrous edge for first time active IMO. Only thing better is a processor that can be controlled by a touch screen in the dash. When new you MUST have tuning up front and access to it at all times. Really shortens the learning curve which is far from trivial.
  13. auto equipment is garbage. ...so are your crossover points. Play some more it will get WAY better
  14. your assumption is terribly wrong. Para lets youbadjust the q which determine the"width" of the eq'd band
  15. No. The Q factor determines the bandwidth of frequencies affected by the adjustment of the EQ band. High Q = narrow bandwidth, low Q = wide bandwidth. Both graphic and parametric EQ's have a Q factor. Parametric EQ allows you to select the center frequency and Q factor. Graphic EQ's have a fixed center frequency and Q factor. And to clarify further independent EQ means you can adjust left and right channels separately. This can be either graphic or parametric, but not all processors allow for independent equalization.
  16. No, he is not. Both graphic and parametric have a Q factor. Just that parametric Q is adjustable and graphic is fixed. Even in lay men's terms it's wrong. There is a difference between saying it's fixed, and that it doesn't exist.
  17. your assumption is terribly wrong. Para lets youbadjust the q which determine the"width" of the eq'd bandHe had it correct in laymen's terms.or he had it opposite. Depends on the need and thwtvis exactly why para is more flexible
  18. Q in laymens terms is width and slope. Being that equipment is for anomalies theyvwill determine what you change. As for the crossover question. Can't do much until you get rid of the garbage ft1s, but trying a bit harder willvhelp
  19. Because the problem you are trying to fix is never a single frequency. Just like an EQ, the peaks and dips in the frequency response have a Q factor...it's either a wide (low Q) peak/dip or a narrow (high Q) peak/dip. Adjustable Q allows you to really narrow in on the specific problem you are trying to fix. Long story short parametrics typically have fewer bands than graphic, but parametric is more adjustable. So parametric is better at tackling specific problem areas in the frequency response whereas graphic is better at carving out the overall frequency response and tonality of the system. Both are effective, just at different things.
  20. hi and low doesn't mean they can run things active. Need reasonable frequency choices as well.A custom set of passives will set you back a couple hundred bucks at least.
  21. Try again. Does the opposite. Narrow range, in fact they are passed in a band. Any other reason?
  22. Try again. Does the opposite. Narrow range, in fact they are passed in a band. Any other reason? 4th orders have two narrow ranges. And if you build it right you can get a bigger range of frequencies. Regular ported boxes are a lot easier to design and get right. And as I stated, it will NOT be a better range of frequencies. I understand BP frequency response, the OP obviously does not. It isn't about easier and getting it right, it is about being useful. Generally speaking that alignment offers no benefit and a ton of negatives. BP enclosures do not have an advantage over a normal ported enclosure in that way. Not unless you want a really narrow bandwidth, but that would be stupid.
  23. Buying sub's is easy the rest is hard. Super easy to make bass, real hard to make music
  24. Pretty sure I did. You didn't listen.
  25. Punchy and low have nothing to do with cone size. Model and compare the responses , then ask questions and you'll have learned something
  26. Step by step, automatic, all are fails. So is the limited 10band eq. When they are on the used market for $150 the JL proc will be an okay compromise, but until then I'd rather not.
  27. Perhaps some experience with tuning would help here. Your 80 bands give you 2 graphic eq per tweet in REALLY crappy frequency locations. Absolutely useless. They monstrously failed on the eq side. And yes, I do realize there is also a parametric eq but we were discussing use for noobs and that functionally doesn't mix. For $100 the miniDSP KILLS it in capability. Obviously only 4 channels then, but if you were comparing to the JL's 8's you could just run the sub in parallel with no eq and headunit crossover and have the exact same results as the JL proc. That is lame.
  28. 8 bands is generally enough but ONLY if they are the right 8 bands. In the case of the JL the graphic bands are nowhere near in useful locations.
  29. No, maybe and yes. NEVER buy based on extra capability but instead focus on the extra capability YOU need. Ie, if you dont know what you are missing then the extta proc will not make any difference. So that being said what fo you want to improve?
