SSA Forum members special on Evil6.5's
I want to extend a thanks to the SSA forum members that have been with us for a while and have supported my expansion of the SSA product offerings. 10 years ago it started with the SSA Icon 12D2, and we have slowly expanded from there. After years of just sub woofers, I was finally able to move into smaller speakers. Our latest offering is the Evil6.5 mid. All that being said, I need to take care of the people who are apart of the SSA family first. So to our SSA forum members, if you want to try out our new Evil6.5, I will place a $10 SSA Store credit on your SSA Store account for each SSA Evil6.5 you want to order. This is available to SSA forum members with an SSA Store account until September 15th, 2016. _________________________________________________________________________ All you have to do is follow the below example and post in this topic: SSA Store account email address: [email protected] Number of Evil6.5's: 22 points

Welcome to the IHoP v.2
2 pointsFor a teeny fraction of the money, the SSA drivers smoke their expensive JL counterparts. There are a shit ton of amps that do everything the JL ones do for WAY, WAY less money. I am glad for them they can charge what they do, but that doesn't mean I will do business with them. The box in my truck is literally to fill in the bottom audible octave. 20-40Hz. My 7" mids can't quite play reference level upright bass that low so I've been waiting 2 years for a steal on a box on ebay. The box fits the amount of space I have perfect, but the craftsmanship is super shoddy and the result lackluster. Paired with the little NVX I won't complain about spending $300 for the combo though as it fills in what I needed. You should stop inferring that what I have in one car is my experience with a brand. That is a joke. I have more shit in my basement than most people on audio forums go through in a lifetime. All I have left is what I don't want to sell. Not so amusingly some of it I will never use either.2 points

sub options for Altima coupe
1 pointDo you plan on building the enclosure yourself or purchasing a prefab? The measurements you gave are 12 x 36 x 36. That's 9 ft.³, so you have plenty of volume. I'm not sure what volume the Dcon 10" needs ported, but 2 of them shouldnt need more than around half that space.1 point

That's awesome of you Aaron, I have been a part of the forum for some years now, and as you know have ordered two of these speakers, I have not logged in to my SSA account to see if the credit is there. Either way, credit or not on my account, I think this is just further proof (as if any further proof was needed!) of the outstanding practices, standards and products of SSA AUDIO!!!1 point

Welcome to the IHoP v.2
1 pointI would clarify that a bit more. Every company also wants to charge as much as they can. Obviously it has to be optimized to not exclude quantity, but the more the better as they then get to achieve their goal. Regrettably there is a blind faithful willing to support highway robbery in the car audio world and support companies like JL. It is great they have real engineering and do nice work, but they are way too proud of it.1 point

Welcome to the IHoP v.2
1 pointNow don't misread like you like to and take what I said and misrepresent it. I did not say that a Dcon has more output and sounds better than a w6. Not even close to what I said....but of course making a sub sound good is rather easy so blowing a ridiculous wad on one is stupidity. I have a plethora of drivers to do what I like with here, but yet have chosen to put an Xcon in my boat. It isn't because I like Aaron and the board either. It is because of how the driver behaves in filling my needs.1 point

I should have read ahead, of course Aaron answered on the upcoming tweeters. The Kappa mids and tweeters are a joke. The Evil mids will SMOKE them in every aspect. As for tweeters, again same answer as before. Things that are important: -size -dome preference/things you've liked in the past -mounting location and aiming -flexibility of your crossover Knowing those things it is easy to have us help narrow down a tweeter choice. There is currently a severe lack of small format tweeters with balls to dig deep. You are either budget restricted with a Scan D2904 (love mine) or you have options that handcuff the response that are cheaper, Seas Neo etc. If you can fit a larger format this opens up, or of course if you don't need the tweeter to dig that deep which depending on how you mount the Evils could be acceptable as well.1 point

They will mate with a ton of tweeters. I would avoid ones from a component set as they are all lackluster. Instead figure out the largest thing you can fit and a budget and we can help you pick some. I know the SSA ones are coming if you wait, but there are literally tons of options if you can't.1 point

In testing I was using the Morel MDT 12's. The Peerless by Tymphany NE19VTS-04 3/4", SEAS Neo Textiles, Scan-Speak D3400's and LPG's are good options. I am working on SSA tweets at the moment.1 point

1 pointHad no time to do any listening or to play with eq, t/a, phase, etc. Hell had pretty much no time to listen to it. Will level set it appropriately tomorrow and dial it in. Then do some listening and can post up some thoughts.1 point- Welcome to the IHoP v.2
1 pointThe little NVX is impressive though. Full gain and no noise. ....so yeah, that is where i left it. Think perhaps it is because it expects a stronger signal than I have Although from an Engineering perspective making it so that the gain can't be turned up so far there is thermal noise is a quality, not a concern. At full womp my front stage buries the sub, but it provides exactly what I need anywhere else. The bottom octave is no longer a sad point in the install and it blends seamlessly so it is just what the big ugly needed.1 point- Welcome to the IHoP v.2

1 pointTyler fade built a bad ass IB setup. Seen it at a world finals event. Put up some impressive numbers. Wasn't anything sound quality, but had some decent sound too. Just Saying Speaker boy, you my bro and all, but you really need to concentrate on latching onto that vehicle before making audio plans.1 point- Welcome to the IHoP v.2

1 pointYou literally didn't answer any of my questions. Fail. Not looking for woofer suggestions. Deliberately intend to pursue an IB build, and I already own a Fi BTL 18. With as much displacement as I'll have, in a vehicle this size, I'll have sufficient output. One 18 on 1.5k in my Mountaineer is almost where I need it, so six on 7k in a smaller walled car should be a little closer to where I want it. I've owned plenty of ported and sealed as well as a few shitbox bandpasses. IB bass holds an allure to me, it's always so effortless. Wattage isn't everything bro. I can get nearly full excursion on a BTL off of 1.5k rms. Enclosure is far more important than drowning a woofer in power.1 point- SSA Forum members special on Evil6.5's
