  1. You guys should come up to Maine lol. I wish I lived closer.
  2. I believe they are behind schedule due to waiting on USA Made Steel! FTMFW! I've heard US steel gives you the extra deebeez!
  3. SA-15, IA lethal injection/death row, Fi BL... Tons of options for him.
  4. How is the box placed in the vehicle? Make sure it isn't wired out of phase. This sounds like a cancellation issue of some kind to me. Try switching amps for sure, that would be a good test for the amp.
  5. My old RF amp got really hot. Double check your voltage as others have said, but if it really is going as strong as you say then voltage isn't an issue. This may be part of the amp's design, it should have thermal protection too.
  6. Looking forward to more vids! I can't wait to pick up some XS power batteries!
  7. These are some crappy pictures of my XCONs lol. XCONs FTMFW!
  8. Happy Birthday!!! :gift:

    Happy Birthday!
  10. I think it was set-up like that to make it easier to see sealed and ported configurations for each woofer, the coil configs do not affect the enclosure as stated above.
  11. Well I called up Excessive Amperage and he told me he could do $385 shipped for 200A Max ~130A idle. This sounds good, but I'm still hesitant to order... I've been browsing around to read more about them, I really don't want to order it and regret it later. Thanks for that suggestion, I wouldn't even have considered it otherwise. Now I just have more options to choose from lol. If I go with EA or Ohio Gen. I'll be getting whatever the max size battery from XS power I can fit in the front. Right now I have a G34 in there but I think I can go larger. Eventually I will get one for the trunk as well. If I go with DC Power, I most likely can't get newer batteries until next year because I can't make that much money until I get out of college . I feel that upgrading my batteries (old D34/78 yellow top, C&D High Rate Max) to a big XS Power battery would help a great deal. I'm leaning towards the cheaper options so I can do this soon... Does this seem like a good idea? I'm going to give DC another call just to see if they really can make my alternator within a reasonable time frame.

That will definitely be much easier and cheaper lol. I'm sure it will sound great. I'll keep an eye out on your build, hope you get your box soon!

Thanks! I wish they were ZCONs .

Yeah it was my first glassing experience and it turned out pretty well. I'm too lazy to do tons of body filler and sanding though lol, I was too excited to get them in. I need to re-wrap them some time, but they sound so good I'm not sure if I want to touch them. Are you going to have more than that one set of speakers? You might want to look into higher power handling or sensitivity speakers because even the AA's don't keep up with my 12"s on some songs lol. I love the way they sound though, it just worked out so well in my car. Not going to add horns or super tweeters either, don't need to go deaf Most of the time I'll be listening at mid volume where mids should be okay, and full output for demos and what not. Yeah it's my first time too, Be easy on me baby! Well I OG planned on 6 1/2s, made pods, then saw they hit the dash when door closed... so I took them out and threw'm away. Then I thought about 3 4" mids. Now I'm back to 6" or 6 1/2" and just space it out a little. So I'm still not really sure what I'll end up doing. My goal is to have some nice midbass at fairly loud volume, I'm not planning on or expecting midbass to keep up with xcons. Just going to be a well rounded system at lower to mid volumes, but turned all the way up, it'll just be bass drowning everything else out. Yeah that's pretty much what I was going for as well. I can tell you that the AA's are great for midbass, it sounds like I have a sub in my car with my subs off . I'm tuned in to your build, it'll be well worth the wait.

Kodak Zi8. My girlfriend got me one for my birthday and I'm finally putting it to use lol. Great camera all around. I can't wait to finish sealing it off finally and get it even louder!

Thanks! I'm happy it was enjoyable, I was afraid I did a horrible job on it lol. If you haven't found it in my build log yet, it starts here http://www.soundsolutionsaudio.com/forum/topic/39469-ulrisas-volvo-s40-build/page__st__30. Apparently the link in my sig. isn't right so thanks for making me look! lol.

Posted up a new video of the XCONs today. I wished I had gone to a better location to film, the video didn't come out like I wanted. Also, using the macro on the Zi8 is awesome! Too bad I figured it out after I filmed lol. Next time I'll use an even greater variety of music. Enjoy!
  19. I contacted Mechman and XS Power and neither of them carried anything for my vehicle. I haven't called excessive amperage yet, so I might give them a call and see what they have to offer. I've heard horror stories about them too, so I guess I'll have to keep that in mind.
  20. I called them quite a while ago and they said they could do it. I can't tell you definitively, but I think I remember my dad saying they made some revisions after the first model (2000). Even so, I just looked and they are definitely the same alternator stock. Maybe they made a mistake with me I don't know. If that's the case, then I'll be going with the Ohio Generator alternator. They told me they could make it (did not give me a timeframe at the time, but didn't warn me about a long wait or anything). They also made it sound like that is why it was going to be so costly. I can wait if the Ohio Generator alternator is not sufficient, but I'm hoping to get some opinions so I can make a more informed decision.
  21. Hi- I've needed a new alternator for a while and I'm finally starting to get my money up to purchase some upgrades. My 2000 Volvo S40 has a small alternator in a cramped engine compartment so most companies don't make alternators for it. DC Power and Ohio generator will make something for me, but I'm not sure which is the best scenario. I have an IA 40.1 (3600+ rms) and RF T4004 elite (~100x4). DC power quoted me ~$800-900 for a 270XP alternator. ~200 amps at idle, 270 max. This would be fine for my current system, but it's quite pricy and I could not buy new batteries this summer. Ohio generator quoted me ~$350-450 for a ~120A at idle (my stock max), and 200A max. Since this costs a bit less, I would replace both of my batteries with some XS power batteries (not sure which yet). Which option seems more stable for a daily system? Let me know if I forgot any info.
  22. When I had my IA lethal injection it killed the low notes in a box tuned to 32 hz. I'd imagine 4 would be awesome!
