  1. cant exactly have both all the way lol. I own a Fi Q, that might just do it for you, they get loud and sound good, not a full blown SPL woofer by any means but still just might do it for you. Ive heard a W6 and i didnt care for it too much at all. the rest i cant speak on. Ive heard wonderful things about the ssa icons. Also if your leaning a little more to the spl side of things may want to check out the Fi BL's. Take a minute and read the noob guidelines, you could have really helped this thread out with some more information.. available space to work with, vehicle, any electrical upgrades. and budget And welcome to the forum, good place with alot of good people.
  2. 1000 to each 8? be careful.
  3. that DB Electric alt will more than likely be an issue. I own one also. My system includes a sundown 1500d and 2 kinetik HC2000's. and that pos alt. my voltage drops down at every stop sign/stop light, basically whenever my foot isnt on the gas. Those alts put out I think 105a at idle, horrible alt IMO.
  4. wow.not sure ive seen 5 alts in one install before, that is HUGE
  5. You know what I did on my last enclosure. I took the cut sheet to Lowes and was very specific with the guy that i needed these cuts as dead on as possible. First guy told me he wasnt the best but found me another guy. for the price of a sheet of MDF they cut out my entire box, was damn close too, better than I could have done with my cheap cordless circular saw. I even tipped the guy $10 after he did it. (he said he wasnt supposed to take it but he did lol). Might want to give that a try, but like i said, be firm and tell them you need the cuts near perfect, if you find the right person then most of the work is done for you. and if they do a good job (more than likely take 20-30 mins) give the person a tip lol.
  6. welcome to the forums. I cant really speak on the sa8's or the JBL subs you have now but I havent heard anything bad about those sa8's. seem to be a well built sub and from all the reviews people seem to be really happy with them. Search around the forums here, alot of info on those particular subs.
  7. Ok, thinking i figured it out. This very simple to do, should hold the battery just fine. and under $10.
  8. the battery I have is the 3rd one down in this picture here . im not sure if the west marine hold down will clear the dual post part or not.
  9. its a group 24 battery, not extremely huge. This is my idea as of right now west marine . that MIGHT work. if that doesnt work then my dad was saying i should get some threaded rod, put it thru the false floor front and back, then a piece of aluminum across the top secured to the rods. As far as putting blocks in the bottom of the tray, thats something i didnt think about to be honest. The battery box is plastic though and im afraid that wont be too strong with the battery sitting up that high in the box. Im still interested to hear how you guys have done this. please keep posting.
  10. How do you guys strap your rear battery's down from moving? Im trying to add a second battery to my s10 and im kind of stumped right now, i have a few extreme idea's but its alot of damn work. I did it in my tahoe but it was easy, perfect spot under rear seat, this one will be where the rear fold down seat would be in an extended cab S10. what i have right now is the seat removed and I built a false floor in the area, I have a battery box but its too tall for this battery, i could cut it down maybe 3-4" but im afraid its gonna look horrible. i could also build like a battery box out of wood and screw it down, but my woodworking skills arent the greatest either, probably wouldn't look to hot either. Maybe you guys can help me with some idea's or tell me the ways you have done this in your vehicle. I had to give it a break today, started getting frustrated after doing the big 3 and running my 1/0 ga wire. figured i would get back on it in the morning with hopefully a better plan of attack.
  11. you seem like you got a good grasp on customizing that truck. why no blow thru? you could do whatever you wanted that way, working behind the seats of a single cab truck is hard as hell, i had a 92 s10 single cab for like 6 years myself, always too scared to do a blow thru and always hated every system i could get in there.
  12. cant speak on the BL's, dont own one, but i have a 15" Q and an 18" BTL. and the difference in output is day and night.
  13. i agree, the Fi Q isnt the woofer for you, look into BL's or BTL's like stefan said.Electrical If i were you i would start with the big 3 and a new front and rear battery, if voltage doesnt seem under control get the alt too i guess.
  14. yea, wouldnt mind grabbing some up either but not hundreds of dollars worth.
  15. that paint is a trip, never seen this build log either, nice job all the way thru
  16. welcome, sounds like you have a goal already. Should fit in just fine here. People here are very helpful if your willing to really listen to them.
  17. i do see it now,, how about the jack holder in the middle, looks like you removed that too. was that easier than it looks? i picture having to get some cutting wheel and just hackin it off. but i really havent got into it too much at all.
  18. traks, for where your battery is in your s10, did you cut the lower half of that plastic panel? i was removing the 3rd seat in mine today making room for the battery, looks like you may have cut it lookin at your pics.
  19. nah, burn marks shouldnt effect anything. if your worried run some sand paper over it to wipe the black off the metal.
  20. nice box, let me know how you like port up subs forward, i just got done making one that is sub forward port firing to the passenger side.
  21. glad i didnt put an offer on any of those amps. Sorry for the trouble your having with it. Hope this gets resolved.
  22. I like it, looks like it would be strong as hell, should hold the weight of all those batts no problem.
  23. not sure on the rms rating on those subs but audioque amps are good and i personally like the audiopipe amps (ap1000d or the ap1500d) Some hifonics amps have been known to be decent, im unsure as to which one. kicker amps are good too, but more expensive last i checked.
  24. right on, thats the one i have too, love it. hard to believe the N2 is supposed to sound better but I dont doubt it with the folks at fi.
