  1. my friend has an 08 grand prix, he had a shop run all his wires but i believe it was on the drivers side if that helps any.
  2. if time permits ill be taking out what is in there in a few hours, back seat is a folding seat so no need to remove. ill post back later today with whatever i have. edit: drill it out and use a nut and bolt?.. cant exactly picture that in my head, a bolt going thru the terminal.. how would that hold the wire? it would need to pinch onto the wire wouldnt it? ill post a pic of the amp when i get into it later today for you to see. thanks for the response.
  3. its not the space in worried about. its the difficulty of building a box to use up the space. Current pre fabbed box is 1.75 per side, seperated in the middle i got 3 cu ft right there and it doesnt take up much room at all. the room is back there but its going to need a tricky box to use up that space. with the design i have in mind (picture in 1st post) ill be using a basic square slot ported box, easy construction there. tomorrow im going to rip out what i have in there, maybe i can shit on the passenger in my truck and just fit the 15 on the passenger side lol. sit that seat as far forward as it needs and have mine kicked back. ill take some pics tomorrow along with stripping everything out, maybe ill find a way to squeeze that 15 in there or who knows, maybe even slap this pair of 12" kickers i got laying in the garage in there to hold me over.
  4. anyone got any cheaper subs they can recommend for me? any experience with the 187 10's or the dcon 10's in ported boxes?
  5. well... i bought it off craigslist a year or so ago, the ground terminal on the amp is the problem. the screw that binds down the wire is horrible, and im not talking just stripped out. appears it was drilled out even farther and attempted to be re threaded for a bigger screw. looks like hell. I have to hot glue my ground wire into the thing. Also lately i have been noticing it cutting out a low volumes, could very well be a loose wire but ive had it with that amp lol. the budget im on and express here does not include another amp, ive already accounted for replacing that pos. As far as the front stage goes im happy with that. have 2 4 x 6's in the dash and a pair of 6.5's in the doors. all running off a MB 4125. just want to get more 'push' from the bass is all. Im not the most handy guy with building things, but that design i posted is something im for sure i could accomplish, and i even like the way it looks. but hell.. maybe this is a dead cause.. looking for an spl sub in a small area and at a cheap price? edit: I also have a 15" Q i picked up a while back just sittin here. im sure that thing would make me happy.Friend has a 12" Q in a ported box i built him and for being a 'sq' sub it sounds great, sure the 15 would sound great also, but i cant see getting that thing in this truck.
  6. Lately ive been considering upgrading the sub stage in my 1998 s10 extended cab truck. Currently I have a pre fabbed sealed downfire box. says its 1.75 cu ft per side (holds 2 12's). got 2 ppi subs in there powered by a older fosgate 1000.1bd. Not really liking the way it sounds sealed up. I know its a pre fab box and all but i love the output of a ported box. Love the lows. Of course if i could i would slap a btl or 2 in there but thats not realistic for me right now. Im on a budget. I will be building the box myself. And more than likely getting an audiopipe 1000 or 1500 amp. Current fosgate is screwy and i dont want to use it. When i look at the t/s specs of a sub to be honest i dont know what the hell im looking at so choosing the right sub is a bit harder for me. As i mentioned i love the lows. now besides price im limited on space. Im a big guy in an extended cab truck and i need the seat back ALMOST as far back as it goes. a while back sefugi had showed me something he had done in an s10 and i really liked the design (picture). lets get to the point.. budget would be at very most 150 a speaker, i would like 2. and unless i can find a set of 12's that will perform well in my space and fit in the budget ill more than likely go with 10's. 2 speakers i have looked at and I like the price, but not sure if they fit the goals i want. the IA 187 10" and the SSA Dcon 10", im sure there is a ton of others out there and thats where i need the help. Im open to anything you guys can offer, maybe a different design? amp isn't really what im needing advice on, i know a 1000watt+ amp isnt recommended for 2 300 watt speakers lol. not a big deal for me, just want to select a sub ill be happy with. Appreciate any help given.
  7. im almost positive it was your small wire, but im sure someone else can break it down a little better for you.
  8. just a guess but i think that "a" is the alphasonic logo?
  9. Ok, will do. Appreciate the responses.
  10. Also while im here, i see kinetik sells chargers for 'their' battery's.. My dad has an old school battery charger in the garage, far from cheap in its day. Is it necessary to use their charger? When i asked my dad about it he tells me the charger he has puts out exactly what an alternator puts out, why would it need something else. My alternator charges the battery's as is so that sounds about right to me....? lol. thanks for anyone who can clear these little questions up for me.
  11. I have 2 Kinetik HC 2000's in my tahoe which is broken down for the time being. Fuel pump took a dump and its in-tank. not to mention i was just layed off from work.. its going to be sitting for a little while. Do i have anything to worry about, will the battery's be fine? ... im only asking this because im pretty sure ive read about this somewhere else but have nothing solid to go on.. i mean if they go dead i charge em.. right? lol. Just unsure and could use some clarification.
  12. must be nice
  13. ssd 18" $229.00 audiopipe 1500D $154 on ebay 0 gauge wire kit $93.99 Knukonceptz $476.99 + taxes for just those, deck not included.
  14. sounds like you could go 18" with a SUV like that, but box size will take up alot of room. If your budget for deck/amp/sub/wires is only 4-500 then i would go with the ssd's, 15 or 18". Audiopipe is a decent budget amp also. gonna be hard to build an entire system with that budget but doing the work yourself (install, building your own box) could save you some money. good luck. edit: a 1500 watt audiopipe amp can be scored for about $150 and some change on ebay. (ap15001) or the 1000watt version is even less.
  15. I need to get access to a TL. Wonder how my btl meters with the saz1500 I have on it. Maybe when i find a job :-/
  16. you dont need that bass boost, just turn it all the way down and forget it
  17. damn, didnt even know they were having a sale.. 25% off. of course it happens right after i lose my job
  18. if you drill thru the firewall i would most definitely use some type of grommet. that metal can ground out a wire in no time. For running wires to door speakers try a 'snake' of somekind. maybe a metal coat hanger? put a loop at one end and feed it thru. thats how i did mine.
  19. its just a truck though.. kind of all front stage i guess? dash speakers and the door speakers... just running 2 4 x 6's isnt the sound im looking for. i got the splitters, worked just fine. thanks again.
  20. sounds like you got alot more in your ride than i do and i think my single BTL 18 does the damn thing. i only have a 220A alt and 2 kinetik battery's, and only running the sub with a sundown 1500 @ 1 ohm. I believe my box is alot closer to 8 cu ft though. Only complaint i have is not buying a 2nd one when the gen 2s were still for sale lol. just my .02 cents for ya. good luck
  21. thats kind of what i was thinkin.. i have a few of those layin around from who knows where, looks like ill need the 2male-1 female splitters for this to work. appreciate it.. goin to radio shack lol.
  22. my friend has a 2008 grand prix.. just pull on the panel (if its the same) it pops right off. running a deck in that thing was a pain in the ass.. alot of functions for the vehicle runs thru the stock deck.. something to do with turn signals and other stuff.. basically had to buy a big harness to route the stock deck to the trunk and that harness gave us the wires to get a aftermarket deck in there. Friend had a local shop do the install, looks like a pain. but its cool now that its all done and dont have to worry about it.
  23. Alright.. this is a noob question im sure, but i just dont know exactly how its done. problem is i set up my little truck using a deck with 3 pre outs, was able to run the 4x6's on the dash, 6.5's in the doors and the subs in the back.. now i got a deck with 2 outputs.. basically lost my door speakers. i know there has to be a easy way to make this work. I have all the rca's ran for each channel and a 4ch amp in the back but only able to connect the front channel. Hope i made this clear enough to get some help.
  24. felons cant vote last i checked.. would have loved to vote yes on 19 though but it didnt make it, sucks for us. just gotta go get a $150 prescription to be legal lol.
