Personally I think that a shop pratical class should be offered for engineering majors since way to many don't realize what can and can't be built. Just because that you can make something work on paper doesn't mean that it'll work fine in reality. Oh and. When you weld something it fucking moves!

At least the kids will come out with some what of a decent education of safe work in a shop. I hope.

Ah, such is life though.

I enjoy teaching not so fortunate (in shop experience), but its kind of a PITA when I have a pile of stuff that I need to get done. I can only teach so much in a short time, some of the stuff I have to do myself.

Might not be fair since I've worked there for 3 years, but I want another one of me so I can tell them to do something and I have a pretty damn good idea how it'll turn out.

They are all good kids, work hard, do what they are told, but more shop experience and an ability to be tossed out and swim would be nice.

Two of the minions were pawned off on me, one I had a say in.

I have 3 minions now at work, but I feel like I'm more of a shop teacher than an actual fabricator currently.

Need more hours in a day, and another one of me at work.

Got back from a funeral visitation, on the way back stopped and helped some folks with a flat tire on their boat trailer, blackberry came in handy with being able to pull up tire shop phone numbers to call and get hours and if they had the tires in stock. Folks were rather surprised that I stopped and helped them, seemed pretty normal to me...
