What do you mean by affect the finish? It will remove it. like the spindle on a steering knuckle, it's machined very smooth and possibly even polished, will the sand blasting affect that polished finish? Yep. If you need to protect it, use rubber sheeting and wrap it.

Found the problem, float valve for the water tank was the cause. Not my doing.

Had a water leak in the concrete lab here, turns out I can't find a damn thing wrong with my plumbing, it doesn't leak. I think the moist room is to god damn moist and leaked.
