  1. 5 people in the 'hop and no one posting *shakes head in shame*
  2. sounds like fun Pics shall be taken, just have to buy the wood and find someone to help me move it.
  3. Jim, while your in here. Are there any tricks to setting up maggies in a house to get ideal sound out of them. I am pretty sure they are in a very un-ideal environment currently though I did get time to play with the positioning this evening and it really brought out the low end in them, more pronounced and appealing. One thing that seems to bother me is the sound stage seems high, but this might be a trait of planars, I'm not sure.
  4. *yawn* I need to buy 6-7 sheets of birch ply... Some bigarse BIB's and two 2.2ft^3 sealed 15" sub boxes for stereo bass in the house.

You mean put the maggies at the skinny end of the room pointed the long ways?? (for lack of a better definition) In the top picture you can see where the hex little white pad is on the wall, there is a door that extends to there for the basement bedroom so they would have to be pretty close together. I may try this anyways and see what I think....
  6. One of the things I've learned from competitive shooting, is if you want to be sponsored you have to bust your ass, travel A LOT, and just get lucky occasionally. You can be the best there is in a local area, but they don't care if you aren't willing to make the sacrifices and travel and jump in with the big dogs and until your ready to do that, they don't care. A sponsor doesn't want someone who will make excuses about why they can't go to a competition, they want someone who doesn't look at things as obstacles, but as opportunities. My .02$ -Ryan

So much value it is grotesque? The DCX unit I reallllly like, the preamp not so much but it works alright for now.
  8. I seriously thought about it, if this project goes well I will make one for a B&C driver and spend some more $$$ on it. This is project cheapo.
  9. I have a madisound and PE order in.... Fostex FT17 from madisound and Eminence 12" coax PA drivers and some other toys from PE. Should be an interesting project.
  10. The weight is listed as 18lbs, condition is great, have factory packaging somewhere to ship it. The thing is, I'm a little leary to sell it, its my 3rd amp for running 3-way active and it does it nicely but let me look around see what else I can find to replace it. The price would probably be somewhere around the 180 ish mark, but let me get back to you on it.
  11. Its 100w.
  12. :woot: Nicely done!

I would love wall treatments, not going to do it in this house, or in this basement. I have yet to play with the placement of the Maggies, they were just put there last night and haven't had time yet. Thanks for the compliments though guys.
  14. *Psssst* Look at my thread. Plenty of pics for you Tom.

This is my current setup here in my house in Manhattan (I'm a junior in EE at K-state). Speakers: Magnepan MGIIB Amplification: QSC CX 902 for the sub, QSC Powerlight 1.0HV for the Maggies, and an ART SLA-1 just there... Preamp: Behringer T1953 w/ upgraded tubes Crossover/EQ: Behringer DCX 2496 DVD/CD/SACD player: Oppo 981-HD TV: Currently cheapo 27" CRT, will have a ~37" LCD HDTV before the end of the month In the mail are two Mach 5 Audio MAW 15's for the substage, haven't entirely decided on the configuration that they will be in yet. Overall I don't think its too shabby for a college house, don't mind the mess currently I just had to re-arrange everything tonight and haven't got it all put back up yet. On to the pictures. The Basement Of course, since it is a college house, gotta have the wetbar in the basement... These are my current tube project amps to play with...
  16. Do tell! If all goes well, should be running by the end of the week.
  17. I have pics of the current audio setup + my new (to me, but dosen't work) tube gear... working on uploading them now
  18. x2
  19. Sounds like a pretty decent deal to me, way to go! Have you heard about the "other" situation anymore?
  20. Hows the new job working out Kent?
  21. I'm out, later ya'll.
  22. Acutally, my new check from the university will not go to a TV, it shall go to a bigass PE order. Party speakers is my next quest. I want something that'll sound just downright mean, and I think I know what to do. It should be relatively cheap too, albeit the two speakers will take 5 sheets of ply to build. High power, plus high efficiency 12" pro audio driver in a horn type enclosure should be interesting.
  23. I watched some of that the other night, good flick.
