Box size difference
Yeah, I've noticed that a lot of people I know from around here think my box is too small because my subs won't bottom out. Sooner or later, they'll listen to me about telling them to use the subsonic filter.

What kind of amp to use in a home audio application.
I would like an amp that will let me throw 5000 watts to a pair of 18" AA Mayhems. Girl says she wants a lot of bass. She just doesn't know.

Sub position
Lol, no. I think you pretty much got it all. I thought it was weird too. I didn't put any consideration into the rattling. I was just stating an opinion on down firing subs
-
Sub position
Well I personally have always recommended putting feet on the sub and firing it down. I think it just has a cool sound to it

SA-8 Prototype Is Here !
5.25" depth 8.25" overall basket OD (no gasket) 7.25" cut-out diameter 6.25" magnet diameter That's dead sexy. When is the 10" coming out?

Battery melting..
OOH! Get pics, but if it's at all possible, try to get it red hot again!

SA-8 Prototype Is Here !
What about the mounting depth? How deep is that?

Box size difference
Those low notes are put out by the excursion of the sub. A sealed box makes the pressure that the sub exerts force back onto itself, making it rebound faster and not allowing for that full excursion, unless you are using a very large sealed enclosure. ported lets the sub "breathe" so to speak and allows for more and deeper movement of the cone. (as far as my understanding goes) Not really. Not really to me or RickMorgan?

Well actually, I am going to have subs, mids, and tweets all in the same power. I just wasn't sure how you would go about powering a Fi Q in a home audio application.

Why DVC?
How many QVC subs are there? I mean, I've only seen that one 18" Focal sub being QVC

SA-8 Prototype Is Here !
Oh my god, if anything ever happens to my 10's, I'm getting two of these bad boys.

Why DVC?
I've noticed that all of the high power subs are DVC. I was just wondering why none of them are SVC.

Big 3 Question
I've been needing to do a big three upgrade on my car (1989 Nissan Pulsar 1.6 with two RF P1's, and a 15" Sony Xplod). It's not that the headlights dim bad at all or anything. I just want to be able to look under my hood and see some BIG ASS 1/0 gauge.

What kind of amp to use in a home audio application.
Thanks, guys. This girl was asking me to build her some speaker towers, but I had no idea what I was going to power them with since I couldn't use a car audio amp.

So I know this will sound completely noob-tastic, but I was wondering how you would power a sub if you wanted to make a high power home audio setup.

What's a good 15" sub
Sounds like you should go with the BL. That amp is 1 ohm stable, right? *Edit* Also, did you wire your 12" Kicker to 1 ohm, because the dual 2 ohm L5's are rated at 750 watts. If you wired it to 1 ohm, then no wonder you killed it.

Single 10" Dcon regular slot port
This is REALLY clean. Got any pics of it in your car?
-
jazz mugen
I like the build. Been looking to do something like this with my setup, except I have my subs firing down.

What's a good 15" sub
Well what are you looking for? *edit* As far as sound, I mean.

Work Out Music????
If you can handle the parts with the chick singer, Rabbit Junk - The Best Revenge. Also, Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg - 187um Deep Cover Remix 8 Ball and MJG - Clap On Young Buck - Who Run It Rammstein - Mann Geggen Mann Yung Joc - Might As Well (if you can still find it. I get the feeling that iTunes got rid of it.)

choosing the right 15" sub
You mean low?

Tahoe Rebuild 10kw
Yeah, there is still a lot of room left over. I bet it's really loud too. But why are you going to rebuild it again?

(as far as my understanding goes) Yeah, you lose a good bit of excursion, but I don't have really high power subs and I listen to a lot of different genre's of music so I was trying to keep the subs controlled by putting them in a sealed box. They do hit some pretty low lows though.

choosing the right 15" sub
Just brace the box, I don't think it'll be completely necessary to seal it though. Sealing it will just make it bottom out like crazy unless you do a good bit of bracing to make up for the excess cubic feet. Most people I've talked to who had sealed Fi Q's said they didn't like the sound as much.

Can you even wire two 1 ohm DVC subs down to .5 ohm?
