  1. Aw! Just checked my tracking number and the speakers seem like they will get here by monday. That leaves me without the weekend fun. Oh well
  2. Yep, specially if I end up liking my CS60 I might end up getting another pair for the rear doors (rear doors for now, they would then be placed in the front door whenever I have time to customize my doors to make them fit.
  3. You da man sir! Cant wait to get these! Hopefully they get here before saturday, since Ill be going to a party sat night, people will realize the party is inside my car
  4. Well, we will see what happens when I get this Bravox up and running. I think I did a good choice by getting the 2-way set first. For some reason the idea of having a 3inch midrange doesnt attract me, at least not now. We will see if in the future, I give it a chance.
  5. What does that mean? once you go 3-way, you cant go back? I mean, I would have loved to go straight to 3-way but that would have meant twice the money for the CS63, different work (on doors) and more money on amps and wiring, something I cant do right now. I plan on running them passive for now because Im going to wait a bit before getting the SAX-100.4 ( I need some money for an extra run of wire). But once I get the money to get a run of 1/0, I will definitely get rid of the crossovers and run them straight from a 100.4 What are the advantages of 3-way? I cant seem to justify $500 for the CS63. And to be honest, everytime I think about 3-way, I think about the guy from the tahoe, I mean he was one of the very first persons to inspire me to get into the car audio scene. And I always ask myself, if he didnt go 3-way, there must be a reason? No need for 3inch midrages? I know he uses the one of a kind 4inch woofers on the pillars as midranges tho.
  6. Thanks denim! Glad to know that! Btw, did you get those CS63 installed already? Haha, nope. Have very little time outside of day job, SSA, and being a dad. Don (of SDS fame) and I started talking about the pods and how to go about it. Looks like I will need to FG them (mid/tweet) into the A-pillars, as the kicks don't have the space and I don't want to chop up the doors like I did in the Mercedes. I have a small army of amps, but the one for this install has not even been ordered yet, so I have a ways to go yet. Dam, having that Bravox box sitting there must be really annoying everytime you see it or think about it uh! lol Thats one thing that stopped me from going the 3-way route. I want to have tweets, mids and midbass nothing else (besides subwoofer). So that I dont have to heavily modify my door for extra speakers (midranges) and also the fact that I was going to have to go for the ZED amp no matter what. Well, let us know how it goes. Maybe make a video so we can have an idea of how they sound.
  7. Thanks denim! Glad to know that! Btw, did you get those CS63 installed already?
  8. Ok, just wanted to make sure Im getting Brand-New speakers. Well that was fast! cant wait for them to get here!
  9. Hey man Im planning on getting something similar to what you have. 100.4 for mids/highs and a 125.2 for 8" midbass. Let me ask you, why do you want to switch from sundown to zed? whats wrong from your current setup? anything you dont like anymore?
  10. Aight Mark, you got a deal! Just bought a pair. Dam you had to raise the price by $1 If I can get them anytime in between the week (before Saturday), it would be great! I would like to have the weekend to be able to play with them Btw, how come you got them on Sunday? and How come only 2? Im not getting a refurbished/returned one am I?
  11. I have a question I live in a zone that there is cops everywhere. Collins ave in Miami to be more precise. What could be the worse if I tint my car 5% all around? And rolling windows down its a good idea when one is next to you.
  12. I have a question Whats better (from those who have experienced both situations) Have four 2-way component sets on the front doors (4 woofers and 4 tweeters on each door) or have two or three 3-way component sets on the front doors? (two/three woofers, midranges and tweeters on each door)? The problem with the later option is that I also plan on having 8inch midbass on the doors so that means less space. With 2-way, I can easily put more component sets. I dont know if 3-way vs 2-way have a world of difference. The way I see it is each speaker has more efficiency since it doesnt have to go that low (or that high). Opinions?
  13. Pics or it never happened Denim is so lucky, the 603 paired with a leviathan (which Im sure he has or will be getting asap) would just sound AMAZING!!! Now, where are those CS60CFs I asked for
  14. That makes sense. When I had everything on 80Hz w/ 12db slope, I felt some notes were not coming out! I knew it was due to this! Besides trying 100hz HPF for front and rear speakers and 80hz for sub, I will also try leaving everything at 80Hz and changing to Reverse see if that fixes the missing notes problem. This radio shows me something new every day. I wonder how long it will take for me to know it from top to bottom lol
  15. I really wish I had money for a leviathan and the 3way carbon fiber series. Just on the amp we are talkin about $550, 3way carbon series from Bravox are around $400dreds. I really wish I could try out a 3way system, but that would require too much work on the doors, something I cant do right now. What I have on mind is to get the 2way carbon series, later a sax-100.4. If I do really like the carbon series, I might think about 3way way in the future.
  16. Cool, thanks! Will definitely set the HPF at 100hz and see if that helps me play the speakers louder. Prob leave my sub at 80hz too. Lets hope those bravox come soon so I can take advantage of the power of my headunit. On a side note, I read the following on the manual, didnt really understand what its trying to say. Does it mean some kind of phase (delay as I understand it) is applied when I have all filters on 12db, 80hz? If so, is this good or not? "When slope of subwoofer and high pass filter are -12dB, and same cut-off frequency, the phase is reversed 180 degrees at the cut-off frequency. In this case, reversing the phase assures improved sound continuity"
  17. I dont think the slopes go lower than 12db on my headunit. That could be a problem if the cause of front speakers distortion is coming from that. Whats a good HPF for aftermarket speakers? I have mine on 80Hz 12db slope. Of course, they sound bad, but is 80Hz a little to low for speakers (in general) anyways? or is it because the slope is too low? Also, if I set my HPF at 80Hz, am I forced to set my LPF at 80Hz? Im thinking about setting my subwoofer LPF at 63Hz, and change my front/rear speakers HPF from 80hz to 100Hz. All with 12db slopes. Does this mean I will barely hear/feel anything between 63Hz and 99Hz? Is it ok if for some reason this sounds good, loud and I want to keep it this way (until I replace my factory speakers)? Bravox will be purchased as soon as they become available. I will start with 1 component set and replace my front stage. From there, I'll see how they sound and if another pair is worth it. Net Work Mode also has 2-way active (2-way + sub)? I thought NW Mode was for 3-way active only About a 4-channel amp, I really want to get a SAX-100.4 But I dont know yet, first I want to see how the Bravox sound with the aftermarket HU w/out amp and then think about it. That would mean another run of power and ground cables too so its not just $320
  18. W/e I buy/replace, I make sure is something I can move to a new car. Sub, box, amp, components and radio for example I bought the 4 gauge wiring 2 years ago, so shouldnt really count.
  19. Is not "bass" in general (like bass/treble on most radios), is the subwoofer level setting. When left at 0, theres barely bass coming out from the sub.
  20. Im thinking about getting a pair of Bravox CS60CF Dont know if this will fix most of the issues.
  21. Well, trust me, I would get everything set up right if I only knew if Im going to be keeping this car. I have money to put 0 gauge and get a good battery, its just the car thats stopping me from redoing everything from scratch and starting again the right way. Sucks because that also means I cant deaden the doors
  22. So this prices will remain until the end of november? I dont know if the 200.4 is worth it over the 100.4 Im planning on going active with a Bravox CS60CF set. Any comments?
  23. Good guess KU Now I want to report my experience after playing with the radio the entire day today. I want to start with the quality. When everything is off and on default, the music comes out like if it was treble boosted. Comes out loud but kinda high pitched and really bright. So decided to play with the EQ and fix this. I wouldnt be surprised if the factory speakers were designed to work together with the factory radio. This is how I found my ears to get pleasant sound My custom EQ 20Hz (-1), 31.5Hz (-1), 50Hz(-2), 80Hz(-3) 125Hz(-2) 200Hz(-2) 315Hz(-2) 500Hz(-3) 800Hz(-4) 1.25Khz(-3) 2Khz(-3) 3.15Hz(-3) 5Khz(-4) 8Khz(-4) 12.5Khz(-3) 20Khz(-1) Now, this works for most music that does not need bass. When I need the bass to be a little more present, I just bring back 50Hz and 80Hz to 0. However, I have some problems. Today when driving around, I found that there was a point (Custom EQ w/ 50hz and 80hz on 0, Subwoofer level +4 and bass knob on max w/out clipping) that my front speakers (not the tweeters, but the woofers) would distort on high volumes. For a moment I thought it could be too much bass sent to the speakers? But then I checked the EQ and the 80Hz is on 0 and the 125Hz is on -2 So why did the music started distorting? Was it because I have reached the maximum (rms maybe?) with them? Cause I cant explain "too much bass" at the speakers at this point. Also, it seems like its kinda hard to find the distortion point on the subwoofer. Some songs will not give out the same bass they did with my factory radio and when I try to fix it, music sometimes starts coming out ugly, like distorted a bit or bass just comes out ugly (not distorted, but like... strong notes from my factory radio sometimes come out weak, some feel like they come out when they shouldnt and thus messing up the song). Sometimes, some songs feel like they could have more bass, so I bring the 50Hz band to +1 or +2 and it seems like the subwoofer can handle it, but at the same time it makes the front and rear speakers distort a bit? (its more noticeable at +3) I dont understand since I have my LPF on 80Hz with 12db slope, HPF on 80Hz with 12db for both front and rear speakers. I really like how the radio sounds. The quality is amazing (yes, even with factory speakers) and I can go up to high volume levels without bass. That is no problem at all. The problem comes when I try to bring bass to the system. Seems like no combination between bass knob (amp gain), EQ, subwoofer level and volume can be found. Either it distorts front speakers, there is not enough bass, or sub starts clipping or the mids/highs are not loud enough. I played it safe. I used sub level +4, bass knob on max w/out distortion (4 clicks), 50hz and 80hz on 0. Volume I usually found myself between 50-54 out of 62 which is above 75% I know, but anything below 45 is really low (trust me, Im not deaf, anything below 45 is nothing loud) At this point, what should I do? this is becoming really complicated and annoying. I really dont want to have to be driving and have to mess around with 3 or 4 settings to have a song play "right". There is 2 custom EQs that you can set at anything you want, I honestly dont want to be having to increase and decrease the sub level/EQ bands for every song.
  24. How do I get to set up the Auto EQ and Auto TA? Dont have the manual with me right now
