  1. I do realize that alot of people on this forum don't have a clue what they are talking about. I don't have time to teach you about electricity and wave forms. here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gain this will help. LOL @ this post. I was feeling bad about all the flaming you were getting but I've changed my mind. Ignorance is bliss. I can only say so much before I just chime out. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . ^^^THIS^^^
  2. I rest my case.
  3. You do realize that Input voltage IS Gain..right?
  4. Yes I will be posting more of the build as things progress. I'm constructing the box tomorrow and/or monday hopefully. Her amp (kicker zx300.1) will be in tuesday according to UPS so we can start hooking things up.
  5. Yes she does. She's 23! And FINE. Her wedding is this coming friday.
  6. Here's a vid of me doing the cuts for my girlfriends sealed box for her 10" Dcon. We're doing a ported one next week and seeing which one suits her best. Both boxes built to SSA's optimal specs. Her dad owns a shop with TONS of machinery and this happens to be one.. and he's giving me access to it all whenever I want.. so I'm starting my box-making experiences with the best of the best Enjoy the vid! I'll be posting more pictures/vids of the build later on as things progress. I'm currently in high-school and working 30+ hours a week so I'm limited on time.. but I'm doing as much as I can when I can. ANYWAY . . . Here's the video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1kH5VrvpdhI
  7. Running your amp wide open "jamming" like that with drops down to the 11's will make your amp get pretty steamy.
  8. you will be having more of a problem than the OP soon enough. why do you have the SSF maxed? He has a topic thoroughly explaining that one.. you should go check it out. Pretty interesting
  9. What kind of amp will you be using and what kind of electrical do/will you have? Also, Getting an 18 in the trunk of an Alero will be a nightmare.. you'd be better off with 1 15" than an 18 if you're trying to go big. Have you looked at the Fi SSD's? 2 of those 12's would be around your price range and you could get into the 40's easily with the right enclosure/electrical. EDIT: Getting an 18" in your trunk facing forward the way you're talking would be a nightmare. The way Tyler has it isn't as bad, but still not a cakewalk. I think the Alero's only have an opening of like 14-16 inches (height) in the cab opening
  10. hey.. there's nowhere for the air to come out of the port!
  11. Use the ssa tech section for a design for a simple sealed enclosure built to perfect specs for your icon. Easy to make and efficient.
  12. Gotcha. Thanks guys.. I'll probably go with that AP you linked Phi, or the RF 300.1. I'm building her 2 boxes.. First one will be an optimal sealed, and the second will be optimal ported, both using the designs direct from SSA tech section. I'll see which one she likes best, and use the other one for something else. Think she'll like it?
  13. Do you think that would be enough to power a dcon sufficiently? The dcons RMS are @ 300 watts.. So I know they can handle a little over rating just like any other SSA product
  14. "The QLH-1.2512SE accommodates one 12" subwoofer in a sturdy housing made entirely of non-resonant medium-density fiberboard." *sigh*
  15. I may go with a refurb rf 300.1 for 100. Or a used mtx thunder 300.1 for 100. Either of those sound good?
  16. I've gotten suggestions for other amps, but still no answer to my question. Would this be suitible for my situation? And WHY not lanzar? Like I said, HALF of it's rated RMS is more than what I need for this sub, and still half the price of these other suggestions i've been given that do right at RMS..
  17. So am I more likely to get 300 RMS out of one of those for $100 as opposed to the lanzar that's rated @ 800 watts for $60? I mean even if the lanzar only did half of what it's rated.. that's still more than what those others are putting out @ 2 ohms, and almost half the price.. so what's the deal?
  18. So I was browsing eBay for an amp to power my gf's Dcon coming in within the next day or two, and I came across this... LANZAR 800 W 2 Channel High Power MOSFET Amp VCT2010 Now before I'm flamed for even mentioning lanzar on SSA, realize that this is for my gf's car, not anything major. Just some bass on a budget.. (Good budget 10" sub) My question: Would this be something optimal for my situation? It says it's 2 ohm bridgeable, @ 800 watts, so in reality, about 400-500 watts. The sub is a D4. I could wire in parellel into a 2ohm load and bridge to this amp and have it powered about right for it's RMS rating. For the price, I didn't think this could be that bad.. especially for the situation. Am I missing something here that's just God-Aweful and should steer me away from this product? Yes, the price is sketchy.. but what do you expect from something made by Pyle
  19. I wouldn't put an Icon on a 1/2 inch thick baffle. Also as stated above, it could be particle board.. which could be 2x the trouble. You put a beast like an Icon in a situation like that, and you're going to see yourself in a situation like this >>>
  20. Why are these your only options? Why not add another 12 and a bigger amp?
  21. I'd get a size bigger than what you think you need. I ordered a large and after a couple washes, it shrinks a bit
  22. Just got a PM from Sean DeYoung with an offer for a Dcon for 100$ shipped to my front door. Win X3
