Today was pretty much trashed: VERY slow day at work, the customer dragged on after he dropped off the car (over an hour sitting and talking to him).

VW Passat install
First thing first, front doors. Thankfully VW made the inner door skin removable. Not easily removable though. We went with minimal deadening, to keep weight down: OEM deadening: Deadened: Some Vibraflex to connect the door beam to the door skin: Door panel has plenty of room, just needs some dremel love to fit the SLS 8 The window rails were in the way, so we moved the rivets holding the window rail to the inner door skin and with the help of an angle grinder and a hammer made room for the magnet: Tight fit, but it fits ! The holes above the rings were deadened on both doors, I forgot to take pics of both doors finished MDF and plywood rings installed and resined: The fuel tank and trunk open buttons had to be removed to have good clearance for excursion. The white stuff is toothpaste, works like a charm to check if the door panel touches the speaker anywhere

VW Passat install
It's not actually a build log since it took place fast and I barely had time to sleep, let alone post. So I'm posting up the pictures Equipment list: Custom car-puter, with 8" touchscreen, 8 channels of processing, lots of bells and whistles Peerless SLS 8's A few 3" full-ranges to chose from: TB W3, Fountek FR88, Fountek FR89 and some Faitals Seas H1396 tweeters Nakamichi amps: two 4x100w and one 1200w mono Subwoofer will be a BTL 15, as soon as the recone gets here. The install is for a friend, we both worked on it for 7 days, getting ~12 hrs of work / day and it should have happened 2 years ago. Other things got in the way and we only managed to do it this summer.

Welcome to the IHoP
That shit happens all the time in AZ. Every other state I've been to has signs on the freeway "left lane for passing," and people seem to adhere to it, but in AZ it's like whatever drive as slow as you want where ever the fuck you want, and 5mph/8kmh over the speed limit is asking for a ticket. This doesn't happen often and I'm usually driving slow. Today I was in a bit of a rush and it sucks to see 2 cars going side by side, way slower than you. If you're in the fast lane, go fast, pass then move back.

I can't wait to get my EGT gauge and start turning screws on the diesel. Moar power ! ! ! Still need to get vents for the I/C and a 2.5" turbo-back exhaust. Those will help keeping the EGT's low until I get a VNT

Some people really don't know how to drive. An idiot gets on the fast lane, trying to pass a car. He barely goes faster than the other car, I'm starting to tailgate him and flash him, maybe he catches the idea and steps on it or moves over. The idiot didn't want to move to the slow lane and I had to get on the opposite lane to pass him. And just when I started passing him he stepped on it, thinking I won't be able to pass. Why the fuck would you stay in the fast lane going slow ? And not move when you see somebody is moving faster ?

Welcome to the IHoP
Spent the whole afternoon cleaning out a well. I was on hauling out the buckets of dirt duty. We got the well 8 feet deeper, last time it was cleaned was 15 years ago. So I imagine another 15 years of service would be great. The well is over 65 years old

How to cut out the inner circle of a small ring
Was going to post exactly the same, but you beat me to it. WAY easier. Add respirator to that list. If I'm cutting MDF I always wear plugs, muffs, turn on the vac and wear a respirator. It's not on my equipment list yet but I bet it also helps.

Some idiot started burning trash at 9 PM. The whole neighborhood smells like burnt trash. Right about now going around the neighborhood with a crossbow would be a good idea.

How to cut out the inner circle of a small ring
Yep, same here.. You lose that same center mounting point and #$^^$#$^#^.. that isn't good, hehe. Also, edouble101.. DAMNIT! Routers always cause me to go near deaf from using them and now they're doing it on a damn video. It never fails.... Routers are like bullet tweeters out of control. Ear plugs / muffs and dust collectors save lives

Almost. Get the advanced 4 way crossover. That allows independent crossovers on all four channels which is whay you need. And yes, dip switch to change. Note: this will give you no sub processing, but considering you only need a HP & LP the amp should have that. Perfect. ditching the ms8? Yep, and the HAT L4s. nice, i'd love to mess around with the minidsp. Haven't followed your build in a while. Are going back to just the anarchy's and tweets? Yeah I'll just pull the kicks out, and back two the original 2-way. It'll be nice having more flexibility, and I know I'll get more midbass back which should be sweet. That method is actually tempting, since I could go headunitless, buy a Galaxy S2 and have more processing power than I currently have. I want a miniDSP anyway and with the money I can sell my HU for I can get an S2.

Jeep Cherokee / Grand Cherokee / Wrangler rear diff is a turd. As soon as mine bites the dust I'm getting a Ford 8.8. Same bolt pattern, 5/8" narrower, correct gear ratio, discs. Bombproof for what I do
