  1. i saved some scraps just in case next up is fiberglassing the 3's in the A pillers. not sure if i want to glass them directly or makes pods... first i need to figure out if i would like the mids up higher (above the steering wheel and gauge cluster) to avoid reflections or make pods (puts the speaker as far away from me as possible). i think if i go higher it will look really... really ugly! theres no depth behind the panels i never tried putting them in the kicks though. i should try it just to rule it out i guess. What car? Never hurts to try multiple locations although getting things on axis and at the right height helps. 00' olds intrigue i was looking through my photobucket but i dont see any good pics for the driver side a piller.. ill take a whole bunch later That doesn't help I have no idea what that dash looks like. My link My link My link My link My link My link Dash mounted midrange ! At least seems like you have room.

  3. I was recently asked to do a recone on an mt 12. No problem, got the old softparts out and when I put the new softparts, the surround doesn't touch the landing on the basket. The spider is seated nicely, yet the surround needs to go down almost 1/2". The new softparts on the motor : Old softparts vs new The recone was bought from the local RE dealer and he also is confused by the spider / surround spacing. I don't think pressing the surround down is a good idea because it will limit up-travel. What are my options now ? Except for getting another recone....
  4. To tune for competition you will have to test with the meter used at the competition. Unless you find somebody with the same car as you and go from his suggestion of a tuning frequency. If you have access to the meter, build an external port, as long as it needs to be to tune at 40hz and start cutting away untill your score starts to drop. Mark the port length for max output and there you have it.
  5. This also causes a problem. Newbs who see the post claiming the Flatlyne handled 3x rated will want to put close to that power to the sub and after they break we get another topic like this.
  6. Went through half a galon of resin today like it was nothing. Pics later on
  7. It's going to look bad
  8. So shiney Indeed. Boost or N/A, that is the question !
  9. With a 1500w amp, you could use a 3- 3.5cf box.
  10. For what purpose? For measuring the sound pressure level in the car, a replacement for the termlab which I'm using now. Keep the termlab. There is no such thing as an affordable mic that will measure the levels you are describing. They'll start around $8k. Then I'll have to keep borrowing it Can't see myself spending more than $300 for such a thing when I can borrow it and only pay local shipping both ways.
  11. Are you sure you can highpass the tweeter channels so low on the P88 ? From what I could find it only goes down to 1250hz.
  12. For 12k I'd expect a NEW knee It was done at a private surgery center by one of the best on the east coast. So his prices are some what higher then normal. That along with the $212 out of your pocket makes the whole thing sound much better

  15. Based on these pictures : http://forum.realmofexcursion.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=4744 http://forum.realmofexcursion.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=4747 I say that the terminals are left +, left -, right +, right -. And judging by how most 2 channel bridged amps are connected, the outermost terminals are the bridge outputs. Left + and Right -.
  16. Sean, since you brought up good mic's, are there any affordable alternatives that have a good repeatability ? I don't want to borrow a termlab all the time for testing and just need to know if a modification hurt the score or helped the score. Affordable = in the $200 range
  17. If you won't want to strap 2 in the future, go with the SAE1200v2. Looks way beefier than the SAZ1000D. Just my 2c.
  18. Bracing looks very spiffy Why didn't you use Titebond + sawdust to seal the inside seams ? Better imo than using only Titebond on the outside.
  19. Yep, some formats require engine off. For the others the score won't go down with the engine on I modified the old box, wouldn't be too fun to build a new box every time I want to change something. Also had everything glued together about an hour before testing. Had to flush mount to get it under the window line : New rear panel, not having this cured probably caused the drop in score
  20. Nice work Penguin !
  21. I'm going to build it for sure, I promise ! Testing a different port / sub orientation was easy to do with my schedule. Sub up / port back scored 149.3, engine off, 2 batteries. Old speaker hole was just blocked off by a panel. Today I added a second baffle and replaced plugged panel with a good panel. Score dropped to 149.0. Hoping it's because the batteries weren't charged good. Having a smoother panel and a stronger baffle can't be bad
  22. X2 on the Fostex's needing big volume or venting outside. For molds, I've used so far : masking tape, in 2 layers, some brands work good, some soak resin packing tape over masking tape. Good for simple shapes, never soaks resin vaseline over masking tape. Part came out a bit rough, nothing a bit of elbow grease won't fix.
  23. How much does it usually take for wood glue to fully cure ?
  24. Agreed on the connectors. Ring terminals are much better than anything car audio I've played with.
  25. What motor is it ? PAP ? Doesn't look like too many on the market because of the extra venting holes.
