  1. It's actually sad they did such bad repair on the amp. I know a similar case with the amp going randomly in and out of protect after it was "fixed". That's the price you pay for over-engineered stuff. You just can't beat simplicity and good customer service. If it was an italian office, they were definately not honest. Any plans to change the head unit on the car ? Maybe an active front stage ?
  2. The original install (not shown) was one of the worst, if not the worst sounding system I have ever heard due to the poor install. You changed all the components of the system because the install was bad ? What ever happened to the VRx's ? I'm curous what kind of problems you had with them... I changed the components after performing a head to head test. I keep a lot of equipment on tap just for this reason. Even after fixing with wiring errors and tuning the system properly the Focals did not match up. My client told me it was the biggest difference he had ever heard in speakers going from the Focals to CDT's. I can't blame hime for not liking the Focal tweeters That's the bad thing about cars like that, some panels just won't come off because of all sorts of hidden screws.

  5. They used to have nice stuff. I miss the Storm amps. The 2000w mono was a beast. Took one of those through hell and back and it lived Speaking of which I just found 3 of those, broken, on ebay Would be a nice addition to the collection

Some cars are, in my opinion better starting platforms for a SQ competiotion system : seat position, dash size, location options, width, depth etc. Just like some cars are a good platform for building an SPL system : lots of cargo room or very small cabins, strong build overall...
  7. BBP6 has an option to use normal ecuations or ecuations that take into account fill. I suspect that's why it gives skewed results. Not sure on why winisd works bad.
  8. No idea. A picture of the X1 could help I believe it could be looks the only change between X1 & X2 is the cone. Motor looks like a 3hp to me.

  11. for pics Only one first gen in the group ?
  12. For sealed enclosures I do the math by hand or use this calculator : http://www.ajdesigner.com/subwooferonline/sealedonline.php
  13. Try it on a diffrent amp. Also check the subsonic settings. You might be bottoming it out.
  14. In theory it should stop the coil from rocking since there are 3 spiders spaced very far from each other so that is has 4 points of vertical support. I can remeber seeing these with 2 baskets, never with 3.
  15. Could you 2 please keep this dickerfucking to the ihop ?
  16. Simple amps either work or not. So if the refurb works on the first go, you're ok

so ur running active, how does it sound with no sub? You can tell something is missing but I never had a heavy bottom octave in this car. Just something to blend in with the rest of the music. The MLI's do really well to 45~50hz. Wether you will like listening without a subwoofer really depends on your listening tastes and the work you are going to do on the doors (you can't expect solid mibass with stock doors). Even so, I would start working on the front stage first and leave the sub on the last part of the install.
  18. But with a Qts. of 0.31 it should sound like complete ass Edit : Since when can we determine the sound of a subwoofer by looking at a single parameter ?
