Contact Dave Ritter He's the meca director that said it was going in a mag
  2. Wiring is the same, doesn't change circuit...
  3. what brand and model are those subs? I know there TC Sound drivers, look like the TC-Axis model.
  4. Working on it lol. Saving up for my DC Power 270XP, then I'll send some more clean power to them. Finally got a carbon flex vid! lol. 3 Peat by Lil' Wayne is still by far the best on those mids though, I'll post that up next time I make a video. i watched this video a couple days ago..looks like your voltage is pretty good for a stock alt. I'm really happy that the car has a stock 120 amp alt lol. I just can't turn the XCON's up as much as I would like to without sending the amplifier into clipping due to voltage drop (not that they aren't loud as it is ) As a side note, it's kind of funny how much quieter my car seemed while this video was made because his XXX's had just punched me in the face haha. I know the feeling. My jeep isn't that loud to begin with, but once I stepped in BanginGMCs truck and Marks rocket ship, boy did I "lose" some bass Yeah, sorry about that It's alright, I forgive you

He's certainly spamming the exact same text in numerous posts...
  7. Looking sweet. Camera does a fairly good job on picking up the bass, doesn't just sound like a bunch of rattling crap. Have you gotten a chance to get it metered yet?

So you haven't heard much. Ported will give you the most output, but it will be a little more complicating to build verse a sealed enclosure. As Bobobass suggested, you could use an aero port for the enclosure and that would make things a bit easier to build.
  9. The optimal Icon enclosure design I posted above should fit within those dimensions.
  10. it creates the same frequency but at a more intense level (spl). In simple terms: A speaker compresses and displaces air forming sound waves. The bigger the speaker the more air compressed and the more air displaced, thus increased output. Other things come into play such as xmax, motor force, etc, but that's for another topic.
  11. so generally speaking say if lets use the q they are both in their recommended ported enlcosures in size but both enclosures are tuned to 35hz will the 15 reproduce the lower frequencies at a higher volume and why? The 15" will have more output at ALL frequencies because it has more cone area.
  12. ive got the 2000 grand prix gtp since both of our cars are supercharged be careful about what alt and battery you get remember that our motor requires alot of cranking amps to run correctly (mine is the 3800 series 2 motor) you dont want your overdrive to cut in and out when you give it some gas as far as the subs id go with the 4 ssd's over the 15's the 12's will have alot more output and as far as response (15's dont have better response than 12's thats horse sh!t lol) trust me i know your car very well and know what different setups sound like in it ive had 1 12, 2 12's, 3 12's, 1 15, 2 15's and 2 fosgate 18's the bigger speakers have lower bass but most music is produced on a 80hz average anyway go with the 12's lol The average sub stage is going to be playing ~28hz to 70hz and upwards 80hz. Saying bigger speakers have lower bass is bullshit. The size of the cone does not effect the drivers ability to play one frequency verse another, it does however effect output / loudness of the material being played. bigger speakers have lower bass because they can play the lower frequencies louder lol thats why for 15's you set your crossover to 50hz and 12's to 80hz and your wrong the average sub will not be playing 28hz to 70 hz that all depends on the sub, size, and enclosure I said sub stage, referring to the driver and enclosure. I stated 28hz as some like to tune low although most tune around the low 30s. Crossing over is also preference based, some cross at 70ish and others go up to 80. Just depends on the person and the rest of their sound system. Your statement about different size drivers playing different frequencies louder is completely wrong. I won't argue anymore with you as I'm just beating the shit out of a dead horse and it's not waking up. lol name one speaker that has an fs of 27hz that isnt bottoming out lol the 18" n2 btl has an fs of 34hz lol if i am some where wrong correct me and prove it so my opinion may be changed in the right directing because i am not getting what you are talking about Fs of a speaker is it's resonant frequency in free air, not in an enclosure. The tuning of the actual enclosure determines the point the driver will start to bottom out.
  13. Only one way to find out, Weigh yours when you get it
  14. Ah okay, Whether or not your going for big numbers, your gonna get a big number Good idea, She just needs to find a bag with 20grand now haha.

  17. Thanks.. Just want things to go good for this build.. Keep your eyes out for it soon.. I hope.. Which Mazda do you have? My mother has the mazda 6 station wagon... So much room to do a big build like this I keep telling her to get a new car and give me hers lol
  18. I think your idea of all the drivers abilities to play music is a little off key. No pun intended The Q is for the true audiophile. It's SQ orientated. Throw it in a sealed box for a super linear output response, have it crosssed fairly low and blended in with your midbass drivers, and the finishing piece, your tweeters mounted nicely on your A-pillars. The above is just an example, sure you could do it with a btl and it'll sound good, and it'll play everything accurately. But is it accurate reproduction of the original sound material? Did the actual recording have that much absurd bass that your btl on 2kw is playing? Probably not. The BTL is made to get loud, depending on which model, you could go for a loud daily vehicle or a spl one hit wonder competition setup. If your goal is to play loud musical bass in a daily driver then the BTL N2 is the perfect choice.

No problem. Glad I could help.
  20. ssh replied to dgrubbs's topic in Fi Products
Fair enough Well with your current dimensions your only options for a 15" and enclosure in terms of placement would be upfiring or downfiring. Probably better off going with 10" box height and up firing, this would give you around 2" for the driver to properly unload, but boy is your trunk gonna rattle

If you can't find someone to trade drivers with, you may want to shoot SoundSplinter an email and ask how much it would cost to recone w/ 12" basket.

The btl will sound fine on 1500watts. But you could likely get the same audible output with a BL and cooling option. Either way I'm highly doubtful your stock electrical will handle the amperage draw from a 1500watt amplifier. So I would still strongly recommend upgrading your alt and/or adding a battery or two.

such a pusher...lol... how come you never offered me your amp stef??? You know I gots a baby amp.....!! Jerk Offers up to anyone, feel free to PM me about it. i dont really have a budget ill just save, save, and save till i get enough money lol my car has a stock supercharger so i upgraded the battery, alt, and upgraded the big 3 to 2awg before i even bought a system although i am only running a 4awg kit for my amp so im thinkin it could use an upgrade before i get a bigger amp id be looking for maybe 1400-1600w but im thinkin maybe around $400 to spend on it im not sure ive never bought an amp that big so i dont really know what they cost really i paid $150 for my amp Oh wait you know what i could allways buy my exact same amp again they can be ran in master and slave through a data cable thats supplied with the amp but then again it pushes really clean wattage but its made in china so im not sure how long the parts in it will last its a soundstream rubicon 1.1000d the 2010 model Sorry if this comes across being harsh but his question was for the OP, not you. If you need help post a new thread.

40/13"? Can you repost that dimension please. I doubt your going to want to build your box inside the trunk. So what's your trunk opening dimensions 40/ 43” W x 27” L x 12” T I understand your depth dimension 27" and height dimension 12" but your width dimension doesn't make any sense. 40 / 13" is equivalent to 3.0769" And I don't think your trunk width is 3" lol. So do you mean 40" - 43", 40 4/3" which would be 41 1/3", or 40" and then some? Also, which btl model are you looking at? The N2?
  25. ssh replied to dgrubbs's topic in Fi Products
Right now I have the money for one 15 btl and the amps. I'm not going to put in the car right away maybe a little later in the new year. My thing now is I keep getting different cars never small always something with a lot of trunk space like caprices crown vics and impalas. So I'm hoping to build a box that can go into each on my cars with still having the proper air space for the sub or subs. I'm thinking maybe just one 15 will do just fine for me. Sounds good. So you can afford one btl. How much do you have / willing to spend on an amp(s)? Your going to want to run around 2kw on the BTL or your better off going with a BL on less power. Your stock electrical isn't going to support the amperage draw from a 2kw amp, so your probably gonna want to add a couple batteries in the back. You said you had an optima right? From what I've seen and read Optima batteries aren't the best for car audio, perhaps a couple deka 9a31?s would be good if your on a budget.
