  1. We'll see how 4 18's on 10k do in mine. I'd love to see 160 at or below 40hz is the goal
  2. No doubt the sp4's are low end monsters, this just shows me how good the Ethos do. Looking forward to seeing what a lot of cone area does,
  3. First let me start by saying my enclosure was not built for doing big numbers in mind, its a music box that plays damn near like a HT setup. This is strictly for fun and because the Ethos had to come out because I'm selling it to offset cost of the bigger build. My friend let me use his SP4 that is less than a year old until I pull it all out. The enclosure 3.65cu net tuned at 29hz with 44sqin of port. The amp and power Crescendo BC2000, 225amp alt and two group 34 batteries. Ethos 15 Dual 2ohm (wired at 1ohm) only pulling a max 60 amps of current according to the fluke clamp. SP4 fully loaded Dual 1ohm (wired at .5 ohm) pulling a max 83 amps of current I installed my Ethos 15 last weekend. The sub isnt even broke in all the way yet so I believe it will still get alittle louder over time. The biggest thing I notice is how clean it plays and how much it loves the lows. Yes my box is tuned low so that is expected but the sub does a great job of digging deep. The higher notes do equally well and Im sure in a higher tuned setup it would be different. With all music played it does just fine, rock, rap, country, dubstep, etc) Overall I love the way the Ethos sounds and performs and handles the 2k without even trying. The SP4 is probably my favorite sub I have ever used, they play so clean, loud and low and I was doing big numbers out of a low tuned wall with 18's before so I am kinda partial. (although that outlook may change over time ) Big thanks to Teric (Nadicle) for bringing over the meter and hanging out while we tested and did the direct swap. First I had the Ethos in, we rode up the road and started playing. Sounded good and was doing 2db louder than the FI Q that was previously in the same box and in my other F250 (basically same setup) Then we came back switched in the SP4 knowing we had to wire it lower at .5. I honestly was expecting to see a big increase and didnt think it would be close because of the extra power going to the SP4. Well here are the results. Take them as you wish but I think you will all see the potential of the Ethos. Mic on windshield drivers side, pass side windows down. Found the peak to be 35hz, barely its so flat. Ethos at 35hz.......................... 142.19db (at 1 ohm) SP4 at 35hz..............................142.83db (at .5 ohm) Now here is a shocker, song is "Hood Nigga" by KangarouX, better have big boy pants on to play this one full tilt. Ethos at 22hz............................138.2db SP4 at 22hz...............................136.8db In the kick the SP4 did have a 1db increase over the Ethos, but all things considered..................... Ethos at 35hz in kick Outlaw style.............. 142.3 SP4 at 34hz.................................................143.8 I realize the are complete different subs and both could be said to not be in the best enclosure for either sub. But just for a side by side drop in comparison the Ethos surprised both of us. This goes to show it doesnt take a 600 dollar sub to get the job done.
  4. Haha I know the routine well.
  5. Damn somebody got silly
  6. Crescendo BC2000 (2250rms @1ohm) only used for a total of maybe 2 months play time and never ran below 1 ohm. Mechanical 10/10 Physical 9/10 Amp was bought new and used for 1 month in my 79 dually and used for only a week in my new truck, 375 shipped and insured any where in US. DSS Ethos 15 D2 Sub has only 4 days of play time as of now and getting louder every day. This sub is a monster and is extremely impressive. I would put these up against almost any sub on the market right now. 275 + shipping

Looks like its time to make this truck louder . The 15, and BC2000 will be for sale. I am walling the truck, big numbers and door open hair tricks will ensue, lol
  8. Why? Do you not trust who is doing the work?
  9. swift replied to swift's topic in Build Logs
I will be, just trying to figure with Q about airspace needed. I dont want to rebuild as the box is built and ready to go in. All I really want to do is lower internal space which will raise tuning. my current setup is 20cu net. But if its worth it then..............

I bet, I am blown away at how hard this sub pounds out shit below 30hz. This could be the ultimate ground pounding sub if doing multiples. Cant wait till 18's are available. These things murder the lows for sure.Well see how they hang at higher frequency in my truck. I know, I'm excited to see. I would love to wall with 18's.
  11. Can't wait to see these results.

  13. I would want a 270amp alt or the biggest you can afford and a XS d3400 under the hood and 1 or 2 XS xp3000's for the rear. If not XS Power then get Sears Die Hard Platinum Group 34 under hood and Group 31 for the rear

Pioneer 80prs in, had to get a damn 150.00 adapter to make it a aftermarket radio work in the truck. Sundown 6.5 comps in factory locations My old trusty sub box that has been in 3 different vehicles now. 3.6cu@29hz, 44sqin of port. DSS Ethos 15 Fits perfect This will get cleaned up alot Vid is kinda long but here it is anyway. I start music at the 5min mark if someone doesnt want to see me jabber
  16. Loving my Ethos. The sub plays with more authority down low than the Q but hits the higher notes way better. The Q didnt play all that great up above 40hz (I mean it played well just nothing to write home about) The Ethos plays a much wider range it seems. My box is 3.6 tuned at 29hz. Has plenty of punch on the rock stuff I was listening to.

Ethos is in and it sounds awesome. This sub may hammer out the lows better than anything I have tried in this box. It's definitely better rounded than the Q was. Can't wait till I get it broke in and loosened up some. Pics and vids coming
  18. Damn on a boat I would have went active on some pro audio gear and been way louder enough to entertain a whole cove for 1/4 of that
  19. Or run a top port and dont worry about the side port. Unless its a meter only build who cares. A top port can do big numbers too and actually sound better to both listeners at the same time with both windows down
  20. Six 15's will be just flat out sick!

I know this has drug out, BUT I have taken the rear seats out, and ordered some knu 16 gauge to run wire for the front stage. Really fighting with my self mentally about what to do. Another 3 18's in the wall and horns under dash and door panels again. Or the single DSS 15 on the 2k and just a nice component set up front. Either way its going to be a clean install and sound good. Once the 16ga gets hear I will start. I will have pics in the next few days and shit will be playing. One arm or not I'm installing something. If I do the wall it would likely be 3 Sundown X18's on two BC2000's strapped. Should be good enough for 54's and be a lowend monster. With 20cu tuned at 31hz shit gets down for sure. It was doing 56's with a single 5500 But I love this DSS sub and considering the deal I got on it I will be using it in something and also running it through the lanes supporting Q!!
