  1. Welcome. What are you looking to upgrade to?
  2. I have done a few installs with the new Skar subwoofers and have been very impressed.
  3. Vehicle: 2003 Dodge Durango Equipment: Stock alternator 160 amp, XS Power D1200, (2) SAZ1500d's strapped, (2) SSA Xcon 12", 4.0 cubic feet tuned to 32hz Meter Placement: dash Music: 143.2, Monster by Kanye West on TL Tones: 32hz 144.4db on TL
  4. When I had my Icon it was in a ported box and was more than satisfactory to my listening needs. Check ///M5's last sentence and go from there.
  5. I'll have to add ya bro. I am a zombies freak. I made it solo to level 55 yesterday. Would like to have someone else to play zombies with lol Wow 55, I have only been to 30 with two people but I just got the game 2 weeks ago....ADDICTING. Yeah always looking for people to play. Random people on live usually doesnt work out.
  6. Xbox live s/n snoopjr1020 Play mostly COD: Black Ops Zombies
  7. In the sundown section of the forum there is a thread on how to strap the amps together. I have two saz1500s strapped together and its pretty easy to do. You will have a final 2ohm load. I have two d2 Xcons and they wire easy to 2 ohm. No idea on the burning up together part but they are linked together when strapped so probably.
  8. I use the parallel system. Alternator to starting battery. Pos and neg cables ran back to aux battery in back.
  9. there's alot of post's saying the new ones don't sound like the old ones, that's my biggest problem with it all. i just dont see why they would change it and trash the older design, fi should be adding not taking away They don't sound like the old ones. They sound better then the old ones, but the difference wouldn't be drastic. They are adding something, only thing they take away is the weight of the sub, and that's a good thing Just curious, what exactly did they add? I believe in one of the other recent post, Nick or Scott said they added nothing different from gen 2 to gen 3. Same leads, spiders, etc etc... If what Fi says about adding nothing new, and simply taking away motor force, how is it possible to sound better then gen 2s? Does the motor make a difference in the sound quality? I thought all horse power equals all horse power, No matter how its produced. 1 = 1, no mater how you get there, its the same end result, thats just my opinion, not sure if its correct or not, please, enlightin me if I'm wrong, which I don't doubt it lol. Totally wrong. The UFO motors had too much motor force for daily driving applications. Many people would put them in and lose SPL. This is because it takes the 'peak' that you get and splits it apart and gives you a saddle shaped response curve. People keep saying more motor force is better, and it is only to a point, the UFO crossed that line. The N2 backed things down a bit to where it is more reasonable for daily. Those who are after SPL oriented stuff will be able to get the N3. The saddle shape in the response curve causes things to 'tame down' in the middle band of the response curve. We've gotten rid of that with the N2. It's far from 'cheap chinese shit'..our raw material steel parts are sourced from here on the N series. Everything else is moving over to that as well, hence changing over to Neo on the SSD. We are machining and doing more and more here in the states as we are absolutely sick of dealing with Chinese vendors for raw materials. We are not going to take a step back, ever. That is stupid. I applaud Fi for moving towards more American products. In this economy this is definitely not the norm.
  10. You know what I got caught in between the redesign of the Icons. So I never actually had (2) Icons. But the (1) Icon was amazing. This was the major factor of why I purchased some Xcons, I didn't want to wait for the new Icons. The Xcons really DO slam and sound great while doing it. Why not try (2) 10" BLs or something? Maybe (2) Icons? The box wouldnt be THAT big.
  11. Welcome, this is a great place to learn.
  12. S.DeYoung replied to swift's topic in Build Logs
Damn I love the interior on that truck. Great box design can't wait to see it come to life.
  13. I appreciate it.
  14. I thought about it. But the Xcons are awesome as it is. I am going to try and sell my 12" Xcons, but I can always just get them reconed to 18s.
  15. So the box is about 1 cubic foot not counting the port? Is this counting sub displacement also? The problem with adding the port would be less overall volume of the box. The port would work in theory but it sounds like it would be a small box. I see Fi recommends 1.2 cubic feet. I guess you wouldn't be far off from that. I use those PSP ports all the time and they are easy to use/cut. If it was me personally, I would redesign a box to use with that 3" aero or possibly a 4" aero.
  16. Thank you I appreciate it. Stay tuned 18" Xcons coming soon. Yeah when I bought this one the new ones (2004-2009) just came out. I was looking at both of them on the lot and decided to get this one. I think they look alot better also. I have had nothing but good luck with mine. It just turned 75k and I have only had to do general maintenance to it. Never has it been in the repair shop.
  17. What size fuse would you guys recomend? You have 0 gauge wire so I would use a 250-300 amp fuse.
  18. You are correct in what to wire, except I would run the engine ground to the battery but I think it should work either way Leave your existing wires. I fuse the alternator to battery wire, it is there to protect the wire. It is not necessarily needed. Soldering is pretty easy. It helps if you have a vise or something that can help hold the wire so you can work with both hands. Heat up the wire terminal with your soldering iron and take the solder and place it on the wire and watch it melt into the wire. This is your first time so practice on some scrap wire first. Me personally, I use a small torch because it is faster and easier to me to melt the solder into the wire. Good luck
  19. This is the farthest I read on your post. Good luck. If you want true sound quality why do you need a 18"?
  20. Go to the tech section on this site. There are one minute test tones from 20-100hz.
  21. Set your gains on your amp to where you want them. Before you plug in the control knob set it to max. This way you can only turn the gain down on the knob and when the knob is at max it is set to optimal settings.
