  1. I'd rather have a 9811, 9813, 9833, 9835, 9887 and many more. Definitely not the best yet. Why would you rather have the 9835,9833,9811, or the 9813....... There the same Type of head with less capabilities... If by less you mean more then okay. WAY more processing power. Alpine without bass engine pro isn't really worth buying IMHO. 2x!! Im not really familiar with the 9886 but i seriously doubt it has more processing than the older alpines. Same maybe but not more. i have a 9813 that was in my last car and i loved it. The new alpines look cheaper imo also
  2. I asked about it one time and i think they said its in august now. But they may have a meter there as you said
  3. I think the coolest thing is you can connect an ipod without an adapter. Also in that thread some say you can connect a thumb drive/external hd and run directly off of that.
  4. If you can get over the look of it this is a great deal on a three way active HU http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0012NEZ8...;pf_rd_i=507846 There is much discussion about it on DIYMA. Looks to be a great deal. i just picked one up even tho i dont need it. lol DIYMA link: http://www.diymobileaudio.com/forum/hot-de...60-shipped.html
  5. I finally get out of Kansas and now all of you guys start coming out of the woodwork wtf?
  6. sounds like a crossover point problem to me. you should start around 80hz and fine tune from there.
  7. this is what i was saying, even though you didnt come close to the limits of your sub, it still heated it up some. when subs are new the glue will heat up and smell, that is normal.
  8. Set the gains to how much the amp can cleanly produce. huh?
  9. there is no way you damaged the coild on your sub. even if you were sending a full clip the sub would only be seeing 119.49 watts. not nearly enough to damage the coils on a 1000w sub. my guess is that you finally heated it up enough to get the glue smell a little. i wouldnt worry about it at all
  10. how big of an alternator? are you getting a new battery? i would say you would need a HO plus the biggest battery that you can fit up front(kinetik or powermaster probably) and a second big battery out back to be able to run at 1 ohm. the bracing will make your subs louder. i doubt that the box would come apart but it is possible. more bracing is always better, and a thicker baffle. but dont forget to take the displacement of the bracing into account when you design the box.
  11. you should look at rainbow kickbass comps. just give them a lot of power and i think they are what you are looking for
  12. ahhh okay i got ya now...i just love the look of the Xt series....reminds me of the oldschool days its a great performer....once you get away from the exaggerated power ratings. The new merlin series = oldschool look as well me likey old skewl
  13. what are you doing as far as electrical upgrades? i would say if you have the current to keep up go ahead and run it at 1ohms each. the Qs should take it just fine. the box, i would at least seperate the it in half, so if one of the amps goes into protect you dont blow a sub because it is in too big of a box. it will also add rigidity to the box. you will definately need bracing no matter what.
  14. i was very happy with the i/s2200 that i was using for a little bit. seemed very underrated which supprised me for an entry level amp.
  15. with that kind of budget you should really consider geting a processer and running 3way active. get like an alpine 701 or something similar
  16. i've always wanted to run a pair of those, i think it would be fun. but i just cant get away from the 12s
  17. if you are going for a sq instal. the sub really doesnt matter that much. just pick one that meets the box and power requirements you have. being able to put it in the right box will have more of an impact on sound than the sub itself.
  18. looks pretty beastly. what sub is that based on?
  19. i dont know about the germainiums but my older profi's cant be biamped. though iirc the 100.4 can bandpass the rear. in which case you could run active. if so i would definately do that. you would gain back the power lost from the passives. just be careful not to pop a tweeter
  20. i've used them too. you will have poor output at idle but if you never crank your system while not moving you should be fine. Nate can take care of that with a smaller pulley. And its never poor output, its the same if not more than your stock alt. stock output is poor ime, and in most cases a smaller pully means a new belt. and a smaller pully shortens the life of the alternator. i was just letting him know some of the downsides. it wasnt worth the extra money to me to get a custom case alt that has good output across the board. it may be to him

  22. jearhart replied to beaux's topic in General Audio
i cant imagine there would be a noticeble difference in output. you will notice a difference in sound though
  23. why do you want to run 2 sets exactly? is it for midbass or just loudness in general? also how do you plan on sticking 2 comp sets in there while keeping the factory look? anyway if i were you i would look for a single 6.5 set that fits your requirements. if its midbass that you are worried about you should look at rainbow profi kickbass. they are kinda pricy but worth it. the midbass has been compared to 8" seas lotus. and if you are wanting loud in general you could step it up to the rainbow vandium kickbass.
  24. awsome. thanks a lot.
  25. looks great if you can fit a large format tweeter. i wish i could without major modification. that tweeter should play low enough to mate nicely with the metal cone seas. i think you will like that more than a box set under $500
