How long did you break in those BTL's before you measured them?
  8. BKOLFO4 replied to RobClay's topic in General Fi
If the old one took it, the new one should. . .and it should be slightly louder.
  9. Box looks good. If you want 32 Hz tuning, I would make the rear port piece 4" longer (14" instead of 10"). You will still have 2.5 ft^3 net airspace. You can also center the driver on the baffle between the port opening and the side wall. Will not make much difference. . .either way - I just think it looks better centered. Brian
  10. That will work.
  11. You going to love them. I could not believe it. . .stupid thing is HEAVY!!!! If I had room, I would have to reverse mount them. . .
  12. I met Scott for the first time today. . .Visited Fi/AA and also got to see this new sub first hand. All I can say is awesome and can't wait to get 6 of them for the van!!!!! Brian

None of the subs I have ever ordered from Adire, RE, Fi, or AA have the holes already in the surround. Half the time the rubber gaskets are not even in the correct place. Punch the holes, screw'em down. I have used washers under the screw heads before on smaller drivers to keep it from twisting the surround lose as the head tightened against it. Brian
  14. x2 To measure it, you need to measure voltage and current, or measure voltage across a known load in series with the woofer and calculate voltage and current across the driver.

Will not hurt anything. Most subs like this do not even have the cutouts for the mounting holes. Just watch the surround as the screw tightens down and make sure the foam does not start to twist or wrinkle. Brian

Why not??? Will not hurt anything. . .People do it all the time. . . Please don't think that both voice coils have to get the exact same signal or it will damage them. . .
  17. How are you measuring the impedance? Is the sub in a box when you measure? Brian

I would guess no more free shipping. . . Brian
  19. I would buy a Sundown 1500 refurb with a 1 year warranty for $375: http://www.db-r.com/sell/store/index.php?productID=164 And pair it with a Bl. Brian edit - To answer your question, the hifonics amp is not terrible, but it is overrated, and it will not take much abuse. If you use it within its limits, it will do ok.
  20. Charge wires are run to the back and the wall is finally completely finished. . . Wish the camera would get a better pic. I cannot get a good position, since I cannot open the the windows and I always end up taking pics in the dark!
  21. The upgrades required to your electrical system will depend on what amplifier(s) you run, not what sub you use. . . .
  22. Hey Moose - Glad you stopped by today!!!

  24. Time to start building the amp rack. . . Thinking of something like this for the 40.1's:
