  1. Planars and horns are excellent mids imo and often a supertweeter is used with them. Some planars and hlcd's can extend +16k though the roll off maybe steep. If I were running pro mids I would use a large format tweeter. More than likely the pro mid is going to be door mounted. A large format tweeter can be crossed low to help keep the sound stage up high (assuming tweeter is mounted in sail/a-pillar/dash). Like all great drivers mounting a large format tweeter maybe an issue. The Sundown neo's have decent xmax and should bang out some decent mid bass. I am sure a two way setup with these would sound good and be loud as phawk. I do wonder if these neo's have the pro audio mid sound. Hard to explain but you would know it if you heard it.
  2. RA is ordered
  3. Same price here. This is why I drive a Hyundai, seriously. Got rid of the sports car when gas was +$4 f that!
  4. Sound proofing the cabin from exterior noises will help. If your exhaust is that loud then maybe you need a quieter muffler
  5. Oh yeah did I mention JL Audio HD/XD are super efficient and will go easy on your stock alt? Lol /rant.
  6. Stereo Integrity and JL Audio are excellent IMO. Don't let anybody talk you out of JL Audio Sundown is working on a shallow mount with ridiculous 25mm one way excursion with a 500wrms rating. Going to be a top notch contender! ZED amps are excellent. But, most people do not want to pay top dollar for a four channel. I would have no problem using them. For my install they are too big. I will recommend JL Audio XD or HD again
  7. Do you work at a fab shop? By the looks of the blue edges on your metal it looks laser cut. I am a machinist now but I am a fabricator at heart. Again you do excellent work.
  8. Excellent work! You left no detail out and did everything in good time.
  9. He may not ever be competitive if he decides to do that. Cutting factory metal could but him in a higher level class with the big dogs or he may not even be able to enter. Gotta check out the rules of the organization if competeting is a thought.
  10. Not too sure how well that would work out in a trunk with two sets of subs on different planes. Trunks get weird with cancellation. If you do not have all of your equipment maybe four 10's would be better. From what I have seen in small trunk setups either four 10's subs up, or two 12's subs forward and sealed from trunk are loudest. Bigger trunks can four 12's and even two 15's or 18's. Remember even if you can build the box in the trunk there has to be airspace around the box for the setup to perform best with subs up port back. I have seen +150db trunk setups with two 12's forward, set as far back in the trunk as possible and also sealed from the surrounding airspace in the trunk.
  11. If this is a trunk setup port back or side, subs up may work best. Personally I like subs forward sealed from trunk.
  12. I will. I will not be able to get back to you on them until tomorrow. I am at work now and have family plans the rest of the day. Thanks for not taking my little review as negative. I only want to give you my honest opinion by comparison to other music. I appreciate what you are doing
  13. Great. 40's sound great too, really anywhere in the 35-45ish range. I never metered my car just by ear.
  14. Mid/High 30's are best for me. I can show you where to get decaf if you like. I do not want to post them in this thread without your approval first.

S10 would be better on gas. But an 8 year old s10 for $7 large, yikes. I would get an extended cab atleast with four wheel drive if I wanted another truck. I had a 2000 Toyota Tocoma and loved it. I also had three s10's and one Ranger. Unless you need a truck bed I would buy an SUV but they do cost more. If you want a truck then decide on either compact, mid size or full size and go from there. Me personally, I recommend an suv after owning numerous trucks and one Blazer. But if you need a truck I like Tacoma and full size Chevy.
  16. Sounds like you should be ok by only replacing your starting battery with a good XS Power battery. I would make a mock up box out of particle board or cardboard. By using a mock up box you can find your max dimensions fairly easily. You would more than likely be better off either making your own enclosure (s) or have an enclosure builder make you one than buying a prefab box. But maybe there are prefab boxes available for your car that would work well. Did you check out mr2 forums to see what those guys are using?
  17. My review of these three shizzon tracks: My substage setup: xcon 15, 3kwp set 2250wrms, hu at 28/35. No bass boost. 25hz ssf, 60hz lpf. Voltage was 14.2-13.8 on all tracks. I compared your tracks to: Gumpo Pot(decaf zip 20), 357(decaf zip 24) Downloaded from itunes, Halo by Caitlin Canty and Curious by Holly Brook. I used these tracks for sq comparison and recording level comparison. Decaf will make the hair on your arms stand up when listened to in my car. Lento: Not digg'n this track, no beat, no climax, just too slow. No good bass output probably due to my 25hz ssf. Probably better bass output on a low low tuned setup. Funky Town and Brace Yoself: the recording level seems good. Not too much chest pounding bass. Decaf murders these tracks on my setup. I think with a different selection of tracks your tracks would sound good in my setup. But like you said these are low frequency tracks. I am anxious to hear more of what you got!
  18. Both the Alpine PDX amps and the JL Audio HD and XD amps are badass. Very small digital amps that make their power efficiently and cleanly. I highly recommend them in a space limited install like yours. I just bought a JL XD400/4 yesterday As far as the MB Quart subs, two thumbs down. Do not expect much output. I had two 12" Mb Quart subs. Some like to call them "SQ" subs, I call them paper weights. You can get two regular sized 10" back there no problem if you design the box correctly. My buddy had two JL Audio 10w0 behind his seats that sounded nice. If I were you I would stick with the PDX amps or go with JL HD(regulated) or XD(unregulated) amps. For subs I would use Sundown SA-10 or SA-8. I would not invest in rear stage speakers. Not needed IMO. I would also ditch the cap. Ditch the Optima battery too and pick up an XS Power Lucky for you your power runs are short even if you mount your amps in the front trunk which maybe the best location. Either way, small car with big fun!
  19. Know the rules of the organization you are competing in!
  20. BTW, the interest is here
  21. I will check out your three songs tomorrow and let you know what I think
  22. Go with a 12". A 15" in an improper enclosure will sound like caca compared to a 12" in a proper enclosure.
  23. Really no way of telling without noticing a visual difference. The worst that can happen is that one tweeter will be out of phase. Which that may not be bad to begin with That is not correct. A dmm will measure resistance regardless of polarity.
  24. I am anxious to see more pics of the kicks!
  25. This may help more, enclosure design There are numerous online tools available. I am sure 95honda and RamDesigns will help you with a design if you ask nicely
