  1. denim might kick my butt for posting. Over wrms isnt recommended. But 1750wrms all day everyday!
  2. I have my amplifier's gain set around 2500wrms. My commute to work is 50 minutes one way. I have been pounding on my XCON now for about a month (atleast a full hour a day) with well over rated wrms. So far it sounds clean, no mechanical noise or distortion that I can hear. The cone does get warm but no stinky. No coil rub at all. I need a recone due to a cosmetic flaw on my part. I accidently got expanding foam on the cone which has not affected anything but looks. So I figured on would pound on the sub and see what happens. So far the sub works flawlessly. 3" aluminum coil ftw. Good job to SSA. There is no doubt in my mind that this sub will function beautifully for years on the rated 1750wrms.
  3. Midbass low in the doors, midrange in kicks and tweets in the sail panel (side view mirror location) Should sound good and image well
  4. Not much of an update but I am still working on this install, very slowly. My plans are to change the substage setup from the XCON 15 to two 12". I am considering BTL N2, Z v.3 and maybe ZCON (after info is released). I would love Treo SSX but at $600/ea!!!! Lots of fiberglassing to come Doors, kicks and sail panels fiberglassed for the front stage. I am 'glassing a rear deck panel for a sick enclosure port as well. The front doors will hold my 6.5" midbass drivers. I am using a two part mounting ring. The top rying is the 'glassing point and party of the grill I am making. Bottom ring Top ring Rings on driver (rings are not aligned for picture) This gives an idea of the 'glassing I wil be doing Hopefully in a few weeks I can start 'glassing!!
  5. Mmm btl.... I dig your enclosure vids!

The box looked nice. Too bad it was ripped out...jeez...didn't look THAT heavy.
  7. This will pound!
  8. Not too sure that the hc was long, vlx maybe. Lol I had one modded by usamps that didnt last for shit. Meh I would be cautious. Damping factor maybe low as balls, might not be good for daily.
  9. Tirefryr brought up some great points shizzon. Your car is made up of stamped thin steel and tac welds. As a whole it does what it was designed to do well. What tirefryr was saying was that just replacing a couple suspension parts will only band aid the additional weight. That "as a whole" the vehicle could have a high failure rate at gvwr or close to it over a long time period. I think you would be better off installing a smaller effecient system that would still meet your needs. I bet 99.99% of people that do installs do not think of this.
  10. Sounds like your car is possessed lolz Possibly a pre-amp issue in the h/u imo. I would either listen to the volume below the point at which your issue starts or put in an aftermarket h/u
  11. If I wanted +10k wrms I would use Stetsom Good luck!
  12. Yeah man my 3kwp pops but it isn't bad. I turn my volume to zero before I turn the system off then when I turn it back on I don't get the pop. I haven't glass'd my doors yet so I haven't wired my 1000c4 up. I am going to replace the capacitor ahead of time. Hopefully 807tubenut is right, I have no doubts he is I am going stick with my current amps indefinitely but the bc's are next!
  13. The 1000c4 is their previous model line of amplifiers. They still have stock they are selling though.
  14. If you have no other option, I can mail you pieces cut to size....
  15. If you need any rings or router work I can help. Shipping would be $ from PA->TX though.
  16. Lolz, gotta secure those subs bro
  17. Good deal Got about 4 or 5 days left, I need to get my monies in order... I have been dragging my feet on it. I need to get my order in as well. If you do 25% coverage on panels one bulk pack should be enough for a small vehicle like mine.
  18. I have had a few Opti's in the past. I am anxious to hear your input on the forum. Enjoy!
  19. I like your enclosure design!
  20. As far as amps, I like Crescendo. Good power, good price.
  21. I will be watching this build! Good luck and have fun As far as subs I would use the SA series from Sundown for your application. SA had been proven in hundreds of installs to handle really any amount of power, get crazy loud and sound good. I honestly have not heard anything about DCON other than a few installs on this forum. It doesnt't mean that it isn't a good driver...
  22. For the $ I think it's worth it. I was looking for an affordable 4 channel and wanted to try it. Accepts 4gauge power and ground wires only thing I see that may be an issue is it only allows a high pass of 100 htz. Did you look at the Crescendo 1000c4 ($195 shipped) Some are prone to a turn on pop. But that is fixed by replacing an internal capacitor. I can pm you info if you are interested.
  23. Lolz. I have always read not to mix brands and more importantly battery types. Each to his own
  24. If the battery holds a good charge go for it. I would not mix battery brands though.
  25. Right now for the month of May, Argent Audio has a good price on sound deadener, check it out.
