  1. I was thinking about this thread when I saw this Silver Flute review just now on DIYMA. I mentioned them on a previous post. Did you look at these yet?
  2. You got it man. I will also add that techflex can create a leaking point when passing through a firewall or other body panel. It is not water tight like a good quality grommet could be with the proper fitting wire. from an abrasion resistance stand point just make sure your wires are routed effectively (shortest SAFEST route) and deburr or round over any sharp edges where the wire may come in contact.
  3. The best way to reduce heat saturation on your charge wire is to route it below/in front of the engine block. If your wire is routed effectively covering it in techflex will do nothing beneficial and will add cost to your install.
  4. Are you gonna completely redo your a-pillars or just try and cover the speakers with grill cloth to see if it makes a difference. Or will seeing the shapes in the a-pillars still make you believe speakers are there? I would reshape the a-pillars while using the same speaker placement. I would also cover then entire pillar so the speakers are covered. I may do this idk yet. but if it looks any less than stock you'll know the speakers are there. i don't see the point. True. You would still know where they are
  5. Setting a pair of bookshelf speakers in front of the car would be fun test to see if a visual cue like that would draw your ears outside the car!!

  7. Absolutely not. Seriously impossible. Nothing your eyes do can affect the sound waves.Your perception perhaps, but that is a choice. Agreed. Bad wording on my part.
  8. I may not change my current install though. Kinda tired of working on it and it is quit good as is. I think that a hidden a-pillar install would make it slightly better though. Probably better enough to warrant it beneficial.
  9. Visual cues do affect the sound imo. If I can not see a speaker then it is harder to locate by sound only. This is why hlcd's are so effective in producing a sound stage imo.
  10. I have enough carpet to re-carpet the car without cutting midbass cut-outs. Did it make a difference to have hidden speakers?
  11. My current front stage has visible speakers in the a-pillars and kick panels. Imaging is great, sound stage is deep/wide and often outside the vehicle. I have wondered what it would sound like if the speakers were hidden. Would the sound stage be wider, deeper and even more transparent because I would not be able to visibly localize the speakers? I stumbled across The McGurk Effect. Just to give you an idea of how visible my front stage is. Hmmm..... time to start re-making a-pillars for a hidden install? And carpet over kicks?
  12. No doubt. See I gotta crush on old school car audio amps that need to be used
  13. I am disappointed in your response. There are so many uneducated statements that you untouched.
  14. TB in a very small box should be fine. WT-1427G is that the one you are referring to? If so that looks like the only 10" shallow that has specs that maybe suitable for midbass. Would you be concerned about it's low sensitivity when used in this install (small sealed) for this purpose?
  15. I do not know of any shallow mount 10" that will preform optimally as a midbass. Which drivers are you looking at? Your options for midbass really open up if you can sqeeze an 8" in your door with under 4" mounting depth. I am using JL ZR800's and they are sounding great in my install. I was giving a demo yesterday and the listener was amazed to feel midbass and impact from my front stage. He thought music was only felt from subs If 6.5" are your only option, check out offerings from Silver Flute when your browsing around.
  16. Yes! That is what I was thinking in my previous post! Thanks for the links.
  17. Two book shelf speakers (8 ohm) and a sub (4 ohm). I am not running a lot of power but may come close to a 40a draw. I will be using two amps. Would using two power supply's be ok instead of having batteries as well?
  18. I will not be using any batteries. No matter. Thanks though! No problem with making the cord. I should have asked if this will introduce distortion in the amp?
  19. I will be using car audio amps in my garage. No more than a 40a draw. Will this type of power supply work for what I will be using it for? I do not want a noisy power supply introducing distortion. Before it is mentioned I do not want to use a regular home audio amp.
  20. sucks for the people that are waiting a long time for there subs.. and even longer because it was sent to a past customer .... bug in the system im guessing.... sucks tho.. because you have to imagine how man people are not honest and just keep it! I am not on this forum for more than a couple minutes a day if that. But I haven't read any complaints that people have not been receiving their order even after months wait. Makes me wonder if orders are going out to multiple addresses. Who knows.
  21. The same thing happened to me a few years ago. An xcon showed up on my door step that I didn't order. I contacted ssa and a return shipping label was emailed to me and off it went. I wonder how often this happens?
  22. What drivers do you plan on mounting in your a-pillars? Regardless, I recommend you test the drivers (actually listen to) in multiple locations before you start fiberglassing.
