The notches in the midrange mounting rings are for the connection terminals to fit through easily.

I eliminated a-pillar pods due to the size of the TB's they are 4 15/16" OD. Back to dash pods I go, these are smaller though in width (from left to right).

After hours of testing with three different sets of mids I finally found a set I am in love with And the winner is...... Tang Band W4-1337SD I wanted to mount the mid and tweeter in the a-pillar. I did not like the look of the dash pods. I was contemplating not using the Tang Band W4-1337SD due to it's size but it was the only driver that gave me the stage width I was searching for. The ability of these drivers to image the way they do is hard to explain. And here I thought my horizontal array imaged good, lol that is nothing compared to the Tang Band W4-1337SD setup! As of right now the pods are drying from flocking The tweeter is will be mounted in the pods as well.

Well I decide that the midrange pods are too big. They just dont look right, sound great though. I have two sets of mids on the way to my house, one large diameter (well large for an a-pillar) and one small diameter set. Both have definite advantages. I will post picks of the midrange re-build when it starts! Onto the highs! Started with a lower a-pillar on axis design. Ehh I think I can improve on stage width by going off axis. After some more tuning higher up the a-pillar they go! As you can see the a-pillars are not finished (need more bondo and smoothing then flocking). I am waiting to try out the new mids and I will finish the a-pillars then

How to cut out the inner circle of a small ring
Yep, same here.. You lose that same center mounting point and #$^^$#$^#^.. that isn't good, hehe. Also, edouble101.. DAMNIT! Routers always cause me to go near deaf from using them and now they're doing it on a damn video. It never fails.... Routers are like bullet tweeters out of control. LOL I wear ear plugs

How to cut out the inner circle of a small ring
I made a small video on how I cut out the inner circle of a tweeter mounting ring. Hope it helps! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SuzzLUbVPKM

The mids are Dayton Audio RS-100T, tweeters are Scan Speak D2904-60000 and midbass are JL Audio ZR800. BTW those JL's are amazing midbass! Narrow bandwidth but for strictly midbass frequencies they are awesome.

Thanks, I need to flock them yet. It is amazing what this has done to the sound stage outside of the midrange frequency. The midrange/high transition is no longer easily detected and the midbass freqs also rose up above the dash. I will never run mids in the doors again You had me worried they would sound like shit haha. Maybe if you compared them to a world record SQ car they do Where were your mids crossed when they were in your doors? I'm sure the placement made a way bigger positive difference then what any of the before-mentioned could have negatively. Any difference in stage width? Mids in the doors and where they are now were both crossed at 6.3khz. I am not sure what the specs are on the Viper tweets I am using that is why I haven't crossed them lower. There isn't any aspect of the soundstage that has not been improved upon. I am sure once I get my Scan Speak tweeters installed and xover points dialed in better stage width will improve even more.

Before I completely finished off these pods I thought it would be a good idea to see how they sound. I am 100% pleased! They sound great, exactly what I wanted They still have to be flocked.

I never understood why SPL competitors would run at 12v. Good thinking.

Midrange pods are nearing completion. I am flocking them so the finish is somewhat rough yet hopefully not rough enough to look like shit. I am going to be using Scan Speak tweeters instead of the Dayton Audio. This makes the install much easier due to their smaller size. Here is a pic of them side by side.

Sound question for mr m5
At a show I recently attended most of the vehicles competing in the SQ format used windshield reflection to their advantage. Instead of trying to fight reflections they tried to use it. I do not see how reflections are impossible to control. It isnt like the surfaces inside a vehicle are moving.

Need Help With Picking Sub
A couple Sundown SA-12's should be able to handle your BC3500D with a careful hand on the volume knob. I would step it up to the Z.3 though for a daily system on that much power.
