How big should a port for 15" be?
I have a ZCON 15D2 and a DC Audio 2.0K. Tuning to 33hz. I want to use an 8" port with aero end caps. Should I use 1 or 2? Enclosure is size up to you really. Tell me what's best. Thanks I came up with: Using: 50.27 in^2 Port Area Vent Mach: 0.113 Vent Mach: 127.828 ft/sec Vent Mach: 38.963 m/sec That's for one 8" circular port, with flared ends I'm not sure how much exactly less you can get away with. What enclosure size is that based on?

I suck ballz at designing enclosures. But if you have a size restriction make it known

DIY MP3 Radio
No instruction manual or how to. There are similar projects around the net but nothing exactly like this. I just got my copper boards in the mail. After I make the PCB I can continue. I have until April to finish this so no rush.

ZCON 15 enclosure build log
It plays at low volume 90% of the time. Once it get to 25/35 on HU volume it plays for 5 sec then poof...nothing. Not even the protect light comes on. Put the XD600/1 back in and all is good. Calling DC Audio tomorrow. I have never heard of anybody having issues with DC Audio amps. Must be bad luck on my part.

NS-1s Are Here !
I have often wondered how well those fans work if the amp doesn't have sufficient airflow across the bottom of it Not too many people mount there amps on risers.

Tablesaw size
I wouldn't waste the money on a cheap table saw. If you only have $150 get a circular saw or even a cordless circular saw.

Port location
Thanks for everyone's input! This is my current setup I am planning on having the sub firing forward and the 8" port firing out of the rear deck. Now to start planning!

Bingo. I do not know how this will affect the frequency pathlengths at the listening position - front seats.

Port location
That sounds logical to me. I have no idea how to calculate system impedence curves based on port area and placement.

Port location
Thanks for the responses. I am curious if there would be a lose in acoustic coupling between the port and sub.

I do not see how goals would affect the outcome of the answer to my question.

Port location
My next subwoofer enclosure setup in my Hyundai Elantra will be a subwoofer forward firing into the cabin sealed from the trunk. Would there be any disadvantages to having the subwoofer mounted behind the back seat and the port firing up through the rear deck (both sealed from the trunk)? I do not know if having the port and subwoofer that far apart and on different planes will cause any weird cancellation or any phase issues.

ZCON 15 enclosure build log
I was just thinking.....my port area now is 50.26 sq inches (less than you would have used). That is about 12.5 sq inches per cube. This fits the general assumption that 12-16 sq inches per cube is adequate. This is not an accurate way to calculate port area needed. That was why I called it a general assumption. I am trying to determine if a 8" areo is too big of a port to use with this sub and 4-4.5 cubes. I am far from a seasoned enclosure designer. I want to get my second enclosure design correct. I like to use aeros because they are simpler to build with and weigh much less than a slot port. An 8 inch aero is not too much. I hope some other people can give you some more opinions. Thanks for the customer support that came along with the sub I will leave you alone now
