I hear ya bro. I have the fire in my ass to finish, just no alt to support the system and time is against me. I am going to have a decent "little" system eventually.

System for my Hyundai - Sundown,JL Audio, Crescendo, Audiocontrol, DEI
Thanks for the encouragement! Obviously I can not drive 1.5 hours a day without any tunes I am trying to sell a few items, to down grade, sort of. Instead of a high power install with lots of fabrication I am designing a low power system that I will install in a few days time. I already have a JL Audio XD400/4 that I am keeping and I am more than likely picking up a XD600/1 or JX1000/1D. So I will be running 1500wrms max. My stock alt has been working really really well (staying in the low 14's high 13's volt range when driving) with the 3kwp pumping out 2000wrms so I know I will be good with 1500wrms. Sub wise I will probably go with a JL Audio 13w6 or 13w7. I hate to sound like a nut hugger but JL is seriously hard to beat! I will use the Viper Audio component set and I have a set of JL Audio 6.5" coaxial for the rear doors. It will be a simple and clean....and quick to install!!!!!

95 Honda Accord Build Crossfire XS-V2 18"
Yeah man get outta that 0.5 ohm unless you have a ho alt! A rear batt might keep you in the 12-13v range but that's it, some people are happy with that.

Sundown SD-2 10/12 "500-Watt" Subwoofer Pre-Order
Based on my calculations the SD-12 D2 should work well sealed in a 0.65^3ft enclosure. Do you agree sundownz?

Unfortunitely the build log ends here. For two reasons: 1. I no longer have a ho alt. I have had numerous issues with the 270xp and I can not take the risk of it failing on me again. I sent it bavk to DC Power, hopefully future customers have better luck. +4000wrms doesnt work well on a 90a alt 2. I just do not have time to build this system that I want I have too many other more important things that need my time. I will have lots of audio equipment for sale in the near future.

2cf & 4" port too big for 10"?
Sundown is releasing a new SD-2 line. The 10" is $125 on preorder. Check them out. I am a big fan of JL Audio and Sundown. My choices would be narrowed down to either the used 10w3v3 or the Sundown SD-2 10".

That is bigger than the recommended 1.125^3 (iirc). I would think power handling might be decreased with an enclosure that big.

Looking for new system for my s10
I really like the JL Audio 10W3v3. A member on this forum was recently selling a pair for $150 plus shipping. I would have loved to have bought them but not in my budget right now.

newb to car audio, i need amp help. BADLY lol
Aren't you glad you didn't go out and buy a new amp, lol? Is your amp 2 ohm stable, manual says not. Will it still function if used cautiously, probably. When you get to the point of wanting more output investigate alternative amplifier options. By then, after educating yourself, you will be better suited to make an educated purchase based on your requirements as the listener and your budget. Make sure you read through all of your manuals. You can tweak your system a little here and there but drastic levels like high bass boost are normally a no-no unless your system is designed for that. Your next phase, sooner than later, is to properly adjust your amplifier gain. There are many technical and not so technical ways of doing it. Research different methods and choose one and go with it. Due to your box size, it is probably best to have port back or side. Port forward might yield sub par performance versus the other two options. Play around with box placement as well ie: more to the left/right or more forward.

The bolt that goes through the ring, does it bolt the ring to bare metal? The ring ABSOLUTELY HAS TO HAVE BARE METAL TO METAL CONTACT /caps lock off You can also use your dvm to check voltage at your amp and to check if your ground lication is good.

Do you have bare wire to metal contact? Or bare metal ring terminal to bare metal contact?

Read over all of your user manuals for each component in your audio system. Start with the head unit. Have all your settings at "flat" or any boost levels at zero.

The Harbor Freight dvm is cheap, less than $10. I got mine free with a coupon from a Harbor Freight ad. I also have a Craftsman that was much more expensive and the el'cheapo Harbor Freight dvm is spot on. How does you ground wire look? Ie. what is it bolted to?

Before recommending new equipment you should recommend methods of checking existing equipment for malfunction and improper install. Since the equipment previously worked in a different instsall lets examine the current install and equipment. 1. Use the diagram I posted to verify that the subs are wired to 2 ohms. This assumes the subs are D2. If the subs are D1's the posted diagram will give you an impedence of 1 ohm. 2. Check with subwoofer's DCR individually and not connected to anything! This video may help you. BTW Harbor Freight sells cheap dvm. Educate yourself. There are many helpful videos on Youtube. Alot of your questions were probably already asked by someone else so use the "search" bar.

All of the techy talk can get jumbled together Hopefully it is just a subwoofer wiring issue. If it isnt I would start investigating the electrical wiring for the amp. No need to buy a new amp if you can make what you have work.
