Welcome to the IHoP
Sell the M, buy a newer one, and build a bigger garage so you can buy and Pantera as well. I think I have the best idea.

Normally I would ask why, but with the bass head types, I just say KOO!

Amp getting hot hot hot!
Doing a Google search for reviews leads to many people with the same problem.

Amp getting hot hot hot!
It could very well be that it is just touchy enough for the small drop to pose a problem. I don't see anything else that could be wrong other than a faulty amp or it's sensitivity to load characteristics. You don't by chance have another driver with the same nominal load you could swap out do you?

Amp getting hot hot hot!
Now this is how ALL questions should be asked! I personally don't see a problem here. Some amps naturally run hotter than others. If it's working fine and there are no issues, I don't see the temp being a problem. It seems to me like you WANT a new amp and you may be looking to justify the purchase, so if that's the case, just buy the new amp.

I have an idea for you. . . Come drive my LeSabre. I'll make you a smoking deal on it. I'll even include an Eaton M90 for it if you want.

All the shit you talk about GM and you're still messing around with the Caddy idea? No, wasn't messing around with the idea but driving to justify why I wouldn't. You know me well enough to realize that I have to explore all options before making a decision. Personally I am a bit scared of the V10 beast that BM'er puts in its flagship sedan but it is easier to swallow the risk if there is nothing else out there that I like. I'd actually take a 550i over the CTS-V from how they drive. Wouldn't be as fast sure, but that isn't exactly everything. You kill me. "No honey, you don't understand. . . I had sex with the babysitter just to assure myself I didn't want to." Just buy something already.

Because 50% of Americans are stupid. Out of the remaining 50%, 45% don't speak any English, 3% don't speak at all, and the remaining 2% are too educated to bother wasting any time to do anything about the stupid people.

Alpine or Pioneer? Cant Decide...
Systems never really get out dated. All the equipment pretty much works on the same principle it has since the beginning. There are numerouse pieces of "Vintage" gear that are far better than a lot of the stuff you have out today. With all that aside, I think you are in way over your head, or very new to the game. You don't need several component sets to get loud, or numerous woofers. In fact, for durability, I'd keep it simple. One component set up front, one in the rear since you seem to not worry about the soundstage, and a couple 12" woofers. Get a nice mono amp, and one four channel and a HU with some basic processing power, or use the built-in crossovers in the amplifiers and you will suit your goal. It's evident you are not the most experienced, so I would advise you to start out slow and build up to the bigger, more complicated stuff.

crazy crazy night.
My cable on my Taurus broke on the highway in the middle of BFE and I had to rip some speaker wire out and rig it to the throttle and around the window so I could get going fast enough to use the cruise. Funny thing is, the day before the cable broke, it did the exact same thing your truck did

Alpine or Pioneer? Cant Decide...
I used to hate Pioneer, but came across an 880 so cheap I had to buy it. I love it!!! I've owned far too many Alpine's to count, and their weak point has always been their tuner. That's me only complaint with Alpine.

Welcome to the IHoP
It's the CV joints. Cheapest and easiest fix is to buy new front axles at $70/pc for lifetimje warranty ones, and spend an hour replacing them.... I figured it was the cv joints when I first heard it. Expanding on, how are the remanufactured ones? Worth it for $30 less or not? Figure I may as well replace wheel bearings while I'm in there as well. I think mine are not repackable, do you know if that's true? It's a '98. I used to rebuild them, so my opinion is to NOT buy remanned units. As for the bearings, they are not a traditional bearing-on-spindle deal. You have hubs which hold the bearing and mount to the spindle assembly. The bearings are sealed units and you'd have to press them out of the hubs, install new bearings, then press them back in. To alleviate all that, you simply replace the hubs. It's a bolt-on affair.
