Turbos are no less reliable than a NA engine. It's all in the tuning. OEM turbo-equipped vehicles in the late 80s and 90s, and to this day have proven this. If people were having issues with turbocharged engines, it was due to poor maintenance, and that is the key. Denim, I don't know why heat was an issue with your Merkur. Both my XR7 Cougar and Turbo coupe T-bird had the same engine and I never had an issue with heat. Hell, there were numerous times when I'd pop the hood after a nice spirited drive to see the manifold glowing bright red, yet it never presented any issue. As for you comment on power linearity, those smaller engines will run with a design for quick spooling. Much like a diesel, they are designed for lower end power and will taper off once the revs increase. They could have easily spec'd out a turbo for a more linear power band, but was it needed for the intent of the vehicle design?

Fender arrived this morning. I have to go to the scrapyard this weekend and cut a quarter panel apart for a patch panel, then fix the door, and it'll be ready for paint. Once I get it painted, I think I'm going to take a trip to the local Bimmer spot and see how close I can get to the 135i with the Cobra and V6. I would love the 128i, not sure I want to deal with a turbo car again for a while. I just wish they had one in stock so I can actually see how big the damn thing is. I would like a sedan for the extra two doors, but I just need something with a larger trunk that I can fit all my tools in and still have room for a stroller or something. The Mustang has no trunk. I can get my tools in there now, but nothing else. I've been looking at this, but not so sure I want to give up two cars for it., and I don't particularly care for the saddle interior. http://www.mccormicksb.com/rdmcmotors_578.htm That is the car we bought for Amanda, except forest metallic green and darker tan interior then the one you linked. Very solid car, rides, corners, and cruises smoothly. Not sure it will have enough forward thrust for your tastes, because I know I wish ours did. The I-6 will do you solid and run awesome. I kind want a 6 speed 530i, but I don't need that large a car at this point. So used manual 330i wagon is on the top of the list for me. If I go this route, I'd probably keep the V6 and tinker with it. I don't really even drive the Cobra (I've only put about 300 miles on it the past 3 years), so I'm not so worried about speed. Keep in mind my past two daily drivers have been a Taurus with 150K on the clock and a worn out/underpowered 3.8L Mustang. If I need a speed fix, it's easy to get though.

Tell them to get on the net and do some research. If they wanted something that was cheaper to maintain, they never would have purchased a Volvo in the first place. Of course these vehicles are going to be more expensive than their American or Japanese counterparts. There aren't as many of them on the road. They should know this as it's just common sense. You will be surprised however, that the German cars, at least in my research, are not far off in maintenance costs. Of course I may just be used to paying higher prices for parts. You wouldn't think a Cobra is much different from a regular Mustang, but when you mention the Cobra part, you can automatically add a hundred for the parts.

MTX amplifiers now on SSA shop!
Dammit. I was searching Ebay last week for the new elites, and they didn't have anything, so I ordered a Cadence A2 and A7, and now you go and add this stuff.

I love those wheels! If they didn't have that damn "SRT" on them, they'd be on my Cobra. There are repo's available now, but I don't think your bolt spacing was taken into account. Some idiot made knockoff's in 20's & 22's Chrysler and Ford have the same bolt pattern save for a few different vehicles. This may be different though due to it being an SUV, which I didn't take into account. If it's a traditional Chrysler pattern, it'll fit.

rotational inertia? unsprung weight? True, the stockers are around 35lbs so you could surely shave of another 12 going to an 18 but will add some of it back in tire weight. I also prefer a larger sidewall for traction, appearance, and ride quality reasons. On a car with little tires that is of course logical, do realize that the 300 will only be on a 45 series on 20" rims and would ride on 60 series on an 18". The sweet spot for a tire diameter like that would probably be 19". Have you ever priced 19" tires? They're such an oddball size anymore, they are ridiculously expensive.

hate to say it man but could of been much worse.............. Hope u can get it fixed cheap........I can look here in AZ for a quarter panel for ya if u need man. J It's the DS fender. No prob though. Picked up a re-pop off Ebay for $56, primed. Paint doesn't matter anyways as I have a cancer spot on the PS fenderwell I have to repair, so it'll need paint anyways. Thanks for the offer though!

Well, i got fucked pretty hard today. Had an 8 hour class on birthing. Talk about hell. Sitting in one position for 2 straight 4 hour sessions listening to some old ass lady tell us about giving birth. I get home, hop in the V6 and run off to get a 6 pack. Stop for gas on the way home. I am pulling out of the station and this damn dog comes out of nowhere, and well, I swerved to avoid him, and right into the damn cement pole that is protecting the gas pump. So I back off it to inspect the damage and my door won't open. Motherfucker.

I need to move back out to the country too. The neighbor lady came over last night that my bass was "shaking" her house. Well, I want to know how that's possible when it won't even shake a glass of water directly on the enclosure at full tilt. Fucking old hag.
