CES merlins?
Flakko, are these 100% made in the USA? I know it's been discussed before, but I cannot find the info. Our search engine sucks. If that is the case, I retract my previous statement. American made components = $$$$$$$$, hence Zapco's high prices.

mtx 9500 help
Sounds like you're running into power compression. At this point, the amp is doing nothing but creating more heat. If you want it louder, you'll need more power, or a different enclosure/alignment.

Enclosure finish... anyone know what this is?
If it's a vinyl composition, a good wax and buff will bring a dramatically different effect.

CES merlins?
I love the new/old sinks, but damn the price is just, well. . . . $660 for a 100wpc 4 channel at their midgrade level seems too high to me.

Good job Kent. Nice to see you were able to vroom. My car wouldn't even put today.

Eclipse BLA problems
You know, I actually don't like to play into all this high voltage hoopla. All the different voltage potentials throughout that car is what makes noise. Add to that you have both AC and DC voltage and I just don't see how adding higher voltage will help at all.

Any time.

Eclipse BLA problems
I got you. I didn't know the HU had balanced outputs. Well, if it were me, I'd sell the damn thing. I don't see the need with the HU already having 8V outputs. I can almost guarantee your noise is not related to the signal chain. I don't like adding unnecessary equipment either. Just asking for more potential problems to arise. But I do understand.

Eclipse BLA problems
Why are you using it anyways? Do you have noise issue you are trying to overcome by using balanced outputs?
-
Eclipse BLA problems
Sounds like a phasing issue to me. did you make your own cables? Is the Belle compatible with BL inputs?

10" Critical Mass subs
You're messing with us right? Seriously though. It's got a 3" coil, which has the added benefit of convection cooling on the outside, so I see no thermal problems arising. You'll definately hit its mechanical limits far before the thermal comes into play. YOu want good clean bass with some extension, tune right around the Fs, course if you're going sealed, it shouldn't matter atall. I'd definatelt use a slightly larger enclosure if you can though. That .75 will offer you better lowend and increased efficiency. I'm HIGHLY skeptical of the linear throw capability though. You will know when it's had too much.

Welcome to the IHoP
You know, if you want to buy something from someone, don't tell them a MO is in the mail, then a week later say you changed your mind and don't want it anymore, all the while your damn MO was never in your hands let alone the mail.

10" Critical Mass subs
The stuff from the ORIGINAL CM was great. I do however have a problem with them recommending a 52Hz tune in .75 cubes with that driver. WTF are they thinking?

Welcome to the IHoP
Nah, I'm the same way. Most people think I'm an asshole just by the way I speak to them, but you know what, when they start to really think about it, they realize how right you are. Many times we are a certain way, or have a problem that we don't realize is a problem. Then somone points it out to us, and the natural defenses arise. After time to ponder it, we often realize that others see or understand part of us that we don't and we never realize it unless it is brought to our attention. Like I said, family comes first, so you HAVE to do what you HAVE to do. Uncertainty is NOT feasible when trying to support a family. Look at it this way though, at least you know something is coming. Many people don't even get that much anymore.

Welcome to the IHoP
Kent, as a friend, IMO, you are obligated to have a nice sit down with him and hopefully open up his eyes as to just what he is doing. If he ends up not listening or hating you for it, he doesn't realize just how valuable a friend he has and you are better off. FAMILY comes first, and that has to be understood. Let him know your position and your feelings and everything will be fine. Good luck!
