Put the best agm type battery you can for a starting battery. They have a better ah output compared to a cheaper standard starting battery.

Well the sub and the amp never got hot. The voltage stayed above 14 volts.

I played 30 min of constant full volume music to a 15 Icon from a aq1200. I never heard any distortion, so I asumed it wasnt clipping. Gain was set using dmm method.

If your running under 1000wrms you should be fine by just adding a second battery. It wouldnt hurt to upgrade your starting battery to a agm type battery.
