SAE-1000D
Yeah, that's true. I was just surprised that no one came on here and said "hey this is a great amp." There always seems to be a lot of talk about the 1500D - just surprising to not hear about the 1000D. I'm sure its a great amp. I've heard enough good things about Sundown to warrant a purchase - just deciding whether to go 1500D or two 1000Ds. Ah, well that is an easy one, especially if you already have subs. If you have a 1 ohm load, 1500D, if you have a 2 ohm load, two 1000Ds. In either event unless you are running competition at loads under 1 ohm / voltage over 14.4 volts the pair of 1000Ds will be more powerful.

SAE-1000D
Generally if you hear nothing it's a good sign, people WILL chime in when they aren't happy I've had very little feedback considering how many are out there, so I'm assuming those who are quiet like them, the ones who have written me have written to tell me they are impressed and really enjoy their amp.

Cleaning House Sale
I will probably have some then, any ETA? I have a few Team members trading up to 3000Ds, and rather than have them try to re-sell their used amps on their own I am giving them credit towards their 3000Ds.

Cleaning House Sale
This thread will be growing... I am posting things as I get pics taken. Items that are sold will be put into italics with SOLD in the title. Shipped prices are to the continental 48 states... Paypal ONLY unless I authorize another form of payment ahead of time. ---------- 1) Set of very nice passive crossovers. I had these made in 2003 and never used them... designed for a 4 ohm mid and an 8 ohm tweeter along with 0 db and -3dB positions for the tweeter. Originally made for VIFA PL 4.5" and Audax TM025F1 with a crossover point of around 3.5khz or so at 12 dB per octave. Yes, those are 12 gauge copper foil inductors that you see. Inductors alone are valued at: 2x 0.5 mH 12 awg @ $56.60 2x 0.68 mH 12 awg @ $66.30 These also have Solen Poly Capacitors... very high quality crossover designed with LEAP at Madisound. Cost me well over $200 with design services and shipping. PRICE IS $100 + shipping ---------- 2) SOLD TO NDMSTANG65. Phoenix Gold Tantrum X406 3-way Active Crossover PRICE IS $50 + shipping This crossover uses resistor packs for the crossover points... it is currently set for: Low Pass @ 500 Hz Bandpass @ 500 - 5000 Hz High Pass @ 5000 Hz All at 18dB/oct I used it to actively cross a DLS Iridium 6.3 component set. ---------- 3) TC-9 Based 12" Subwoofer PRICE IS $137.50 + shipping Used for testing purposes. Nice deep bass woofer. Dual 2 ohm coils, 3" diameter coil, have tested up to 4kw burps. Fs = 29.8 Hz Qes = 0.4215 Qms = 4.4312 Qts = 0.3849 VAS = 32.15 L ---------- 4) TC-9 Based 15" Subwoofer PRICE IS $137.50 + shipping Used for testing purposes. Nice deep bass woofer. Dual 2 ohm coils, 3" diameter coil, have tested up to 4kw burps. Fs = 27.3 Hz Qes = 0.3948 Qms = 3.3876 Qts = 0.3536 VAS = 152.9 L ---------- 5) SAZ-1500D #1 (please refer to them by number) PRICE IS $475 shipped The only thing wrong with this one is a damaged cosmetic carton... it got hit with a fork lift. I won't sell something with a mangled carton to a dealer as a new amp, so here it is as b-stock. It is tested to work fine and does include full warranty like new. ---------- 6) SAZ-1500D #2 (please refer to them by number) PRICE IS $450 shipped This one has its knobs off center. Sometimes they will be off a very small amount, around 1/16" -- and that is within a tolerance. These are way off... they can still be turned but I caught this one before I sent it out. It is tested to work fine and does include full warranty like new. ---------- 7) SAZ-1500D #3 (please refer to them by number) PRICE IS $450 shipped One of the input RCA connectors on this amp is incredibly tight. You can see in the photo, the lower left connector... notice how it looks a bit different inside. This makes it VERY hard to insert and remove an RCA cable. It is tested to work fine and does include full warranty like new... but be advised that the RCA connector is VERY tight. ---------- 8) SOLD TO negative3five SAZ-1500D #4 (please refer to them by number) PRICE IS $425 shipped This amplifier is used and exibits normal wear. It is tested to work fine and does include full warranty like new. ---------- More on the way... I have 4x SAX-100.4 that are either used, b-stock, or refurbished. If you are interested feel free to e-mail me at [email protected] if I haven't posted them up yet.

how to obtain a replacement remote amp controller
Seems to happen from time to time... I'm trying to figure out if anything can be done for it.

4 1500's vs 2 3000's
The 3000D does almost exactly double the 1500D at a given load. If you have the 1500Ds @ 1/2 ohm then they will do more than the 3000Ds at 1 ohm, hands down.

sundown sub?
I want it to be listenable, so making it to handle the full brunt of 4x 1500Ds all day long doesn't make sense. That much power will be reserved for burps -- a single 3000D or pair of 1500Ds for daily is plenty. The prototype took up to 10kw before one of the coils opened up. We determined it was probably due to the fact that the proto had only 6 spiders when it should have had 8 spiders -- this lead to the coil rocking which scraped the gap making a thin spot on the winding, which burnt through due to the high current. Next proto will have 8 spiders, a longer coil, and a harder cone. I'm not rushing this sub, it'll be out when it's ready

sundown sae 1000d power wire question? 0 gauge doesnt fit like it shou
There is a mis-print regarding that on the SAE-1000D. Normal 1/0 wire will *not* fit in the connector. Trime the wire and you will be absolutely fine.

sundowns 1500 vs kicker 1500
I don't know anyone locally that has a Z1 or I'd do some testing back to back. Perhaps someone else on here has the setup to try it out. Fact is, Sundown is a new company and more people have used DD so the Sundown's have not been compared to everything under the sun yet

Sundown
I have considered it, but it's very impractical due to the amount of labor involved. At least at this point in the history of Sundown.

sundowns 1500 vs kicker 1500
I don't know that anyone has compared them to a Z1a at this time, but I do know that some have swapped out the older Z1s for a pair of 1500Ds: http://www.soundsolutionsaudio.com/forum/i...?showtopic=9187 If you would like to get pricing contact Steve @ Smart Auto Sound Solutions, he is the exclusive Canadian dealer and distributor for Sundown Audio: http://www.smartass.bz/catalog/index.php

8 Sundowns + 4 BTL = ?
Chuck, What is your final load on each amp now? If it is 1 ohm or higher like I think you were doing then your gains are set WAY low right now and you will really bring that score up tuning them.

3 SD-1 10" / 1-SAZ 1500
The SD-1 is a sweet little woofer, I am very impressed so far and so is everyone that has installed them so far. They are fantastic for tight installs, the 10" model is only 5" deep! These also need very little power to sound great, I think that most people have totally lost sight of efficiency in recent years due to the availability of cheap and big amps

sundowns 1500 vs kicker 1500
Are you from Canada? Just asking since alot of guys up there really enjoy hating on Sundown and anything else new without even trying it. Not sure why... but that has been my experience on the Canadian Car Audio forum. As far as ~3400 @ 1/2 ohm, that is a pair strapped at 1/2 ohm each to a 1 ohm final load. Loyd's testing produced 3740 at 12.8 volts in this configuration from a pair. At higher voltage, Sean's testing produced 5677 watts at 17.9 volts rest dropping to 15.5 volts from a pair. http://www.soundsolutionsaudio.com/forum/i...?showtopic=7116 - Loyd's Test http://www.soundsolutionsaudio.com/forum/i...?showtopic=7117 - Sean's Test

BL + SAZ1500D?
Lots of guys run the 1500D on the BL Get to know your sub and it's limits and you will be perfectly fine with a properly adjusted gain.

Z1 VS strapped 1500's
Uh oh... hope your friend has better luck getting it repaired than most folks do.

12 vs 17.9 volt's :wtf:
Excellent showing none-the-less, keep up the good work

SAZ-3000D
I can't give you a direct comparison but I can say this... Sean, that helped me test the 3000D and did high voltage 1500D testing, swapped out 2x Memphis 4kw for 4x SAZ-1500Ds and gained power. The SAZ-3000D does darn near exactly twice what the 1500D does. Chances are you will gain a bit or be about the same as the Memphis amps. Whether it is beneficial or not is up to you. Are the Memphis amps authorized and warrantied? That might be a concern. Is space an issue? The 3000D is shorter in length than the 4kw is. Do you think you may drop them to 1/2 ohm for competition? The 3000D is okay with that.
