  1. Some of that Gray bag expanding foam would work well I think. There was nothing in the bottom to keep the motor secure. Well I take that back there were some cardboard flaps folded up but it wasn't securing anything really. In all honesty the outside of the box looked fairly intact. None of the corners were dented in or anything. I just want to make this clear. I'm not trying to bash Fi or go tweet that noone should buy their equipment. I wanted to post this for 2 reasons. One is incase I found an issue when I install it in a couple days. Second is to state my opinion that their packaging was subpar and give an example of why I thought as such. For such high standard of quality for their equipment, their standard of quality in packaging such be also. I understand thing are going to get damaged despite best efforts. But I feel atleast efforts should be made to give my equipment the best chance of arriving in the condition it left.
  2. I agree they beat it up and it came across the country. But I expected to atleast have some expanding foam or some sort of extra support to keep it more secure from shifting than a few foam squares around the lip. Ive had stuff from dbr and sundown that the box got beat up but was packed well and everything was perfect on the inside.
  3. Brand new from Fi. Ordered it a month ago and received today.
  4. There was. It's floating around in there. There was a small piece of blue foam on the bottom and 4 small pieces glued to the side. That's it. I tried to put it together to bring it home but the sub wouldn't sit inside them due to the box and the mangled pieces. I just expected it to be more secure being that they take so much care in building it.
  5. Pic didn't post
  6. After waiting a little over a month I was excited when the shipping guy called and said my sub showed up. Then he said it felt funny so he opened it before the FedEx guy left. He said it looks like its ok but I'll take pics of how it came. Here are those pics. I was very disappointed when I saw it. It's like someone through it in a box and hoped for the best. I bought some closeout mids from parts Express that were $30 that was packaged much better. I understand that shipping companies can be rough, especially with heavy boxes but still. I'm lucky that there isn't any apparent damage other than a little chip on the magnet. I'lbbl know more in a couple days when I get it installed. I would have gladly paid extra money due to the time and weight of better packaging. I just wanted to show how I received it incase there is an issue. Let me know if you need an order number or anything.
  7. You measure the port length right down the center. When you measure thru the long section, stop right in the center of the shorter port. Start measuring again at that intersection point to the end of the shorter port. I can draw a picture if that doesn't make sense.
  8. I've built several sa12 boxes for myself. It's all a matter of preference but I found tuning to 35hz to work really well. Changing from 30 to 35hz I gained quite a bit of loudness and hits the 45-60hz range much better and very little change in low 30 to high 20hz output. I can tell a slight difference in the low lows but the output and bandwidth I gained everywhere else more than made up for it. Also being that you want to put well over rated power you may want to go a little smaller on volume.
  9. Sorry! It was a big black amp that said sundown lol. JP was over there and him being a superstar and all it was a mob of people. I'll go back in my corner now. Thanks for clearing that up.
  10. Hank was literally cooking eggs on his at slamology. I think there is a video of it somewhere.
  11. I saw a chevellle that was satin black with gloss black stripes not long ago. He was also running CCW classics that were satin black face with a gloss black lip. It was pretty Badass.
  12. I heard dustcaps got stuck in customs. Not sure if that applies to you as well but that's what I was waiting on. My sub finally shipped and will have it this week hopefully. I know how you feel, it was just a rough time in Fi land apparently. Between busy season, running out of material and on top of that short handed. Also I have found the status page on Fi isn't updated. Mine still says processing but I got an email update from FedEx saying it was picked up.
  13. I can also tell you the sa line isn't that great sealed. It isn't terrible until you hear it ported. Another vote for the gcon as well. May also consider Fi Q series. It is one of very few subs I thought sounded good sealed. And they don't require much airspace either.
  14. Be sure you scrub and scuff the Hell out of it before you paint. Adhesion promotor and the right paint go a long way but without proper prep it usually doesn't end well. Great so far! On a side note I don't know how you roll without an armrest. Would drive me crazy!
  15. What ever rattles hit it with a hammer until it stops. If it doesn't stop, hit harder or get a bigger hammer. Ok really, check out Don at SDS in the sound deadening section. He has helped me out with mine. Great products and he won't try to sell you stuff you don't need. Edit: I clicked on the new topic and didn't realize you were already here. Been a long day lol. Either way, Don will hook you up
  16. ^^^ basically. I do not add 45s to an enclosure design unless they are asked for. The gain from 45s is minimal and this being a "daily" system it will not be noticeable. I can appreciate that. Just for me, minimal gain or not, it's just easier to do 2 rips with the saw to make a 45. Thought maybe there was a more specific reason. What size round over for the port? Or are you doing by hand?
  17. I like marine terminals. I think the last set came from either Napa or AutoZone. I replace the wing nut with a real nut though.
  18. Nice! How come the 2 little braces and not a full 45* in the corner?
  19. Some dramatic music and a pic of a board with a few holes and bunch of clamps isn't all that epic. LOL Glad you finally got your suspension handled. My son and I plan on being in Indy again
  20. Sucks. Hope you get some good news. If you can't make it work I think an adjustable coilover setup would be best. There are a lot of options and some are little under 1000.
  21. Cool project! My son just saw the pic. He says is that in the bed of his truck? The box we are building is bigger than his car! Lol
  22. Dual 4 ohm coils I assume. Sure you can run that amp. It is rated at 1500 x 1 at 4 ohm which is fine.
  23. Looks great! I like the grille idea. Very clean.
  24. What does power have to do with port area?
  25. Cone area doesn't work that way. Radius x radius x pi For a 10 that would be 5 x 5 x 3.14 = 78.5. 2 10's would be 157. A 15 would be 7.5 x 7.5 x 3.14 = 176. Be careful comparing though. Different companies rate the actual Sd differently. It depends on the cone, surround and where they measure.
