  1. You need to contact AA to get a recone. Glue, use 10 minute LocTite brand epoxy. Also, do you understand how to recone a sub? There are many tutorials, I'd read up on it before trying to accomplish that task. Only reason I'm saying this is, because your having questions how to cut out the old parts.
  2. Itunes or something similar? Who uses hard copy these days? Or have once paypaled send the songs via internet. Just a suggestion. I'm sure some might want a hard copy, but for the most part people don't use them these days.
  3. Am I special to have 4 coming close to me? And I'm sure he'll want me to help install. And I'm sure I'll give a review also. I'd really love to do some single sub listening. 155dBs isn't the best environment for a proper review.
  4. I noticed I read the copper tinned statement wrong. So to clear things up. Tinning has no real effect on performance or longevity? Also, strand count doesn't matter either. I assume if the wire is the same gauge, way less strands will do the same. I would think more thin strands will help with flex, but is that really the only benefit? Besides flexibility and a selling point.
  5. You can't kill the DD huggers. Regardless of install, they swear DD will be the best. Well that's huggers of any brand, just the ones that start with D seems to be the worst.
  6. Do I have a few questions about different wire types I can't find answers to. I'm sure they are out there, just don't know where to look. But take tinned OFC vs OFC. From what I understand tinned OFC is oxygen free copper with a tinning procress to help prevent corrosion, right? But with standard OFC, corrosion can't accrue because the lack of oxygen, right? Or am I missing something? I guess I need these answered before I can ask anything else.
  7. Get used to it. Advertisement is designed to sell a product, good or bad and most people are suckered into that. Then the false information is often times passed on. Well duh. And this is why I wanted to make a thread, to weed out all the bullshit and misleading info. Its not that I have a problem with advertising. The problem is people not understand exactly what they are preaching. And return gives out false information to the masses of people. I just want a thread, stating the pros and cons of each wire type. And then let people draw there own conclusion on which type of wire is for them. Instead of letting other peoples ignorance decide for them.
  8. Exactly. The differences are minuscule Use what ever you get your hands on... But that isn't the point I'm making. I'm referring to the people who swear by one product, yet steer misguided people into buying something doesn't fit their needs. I'm not trying to debate which wire is best. Nor do I care.
  9. No offense but just because a sub is designed in USA doesn't make it good. I know the one in question isn't the case at all. But I can design a POS sub and market it as Designed in the USA but that doesn't make it great. I'm not sure the exact orgins of Alpine, but it does have quiet a bit of engineering behind it regardless where they did it at. Same thing about being Made here... Remember the ShamWow commercial? Made in Germany, you know them germans make good stuff. Which is a joke in itself, but non the less, origin doesn't exactly make the product. Anybody can make quality and also anybody can make sorry shit. So just stating them to those details doesn't exactly give facts about either product without knowing first hand or proof.
  10. I don't like the mounting ring on the Orion. Having the same number of screws but not spaced out equally around the ring doesn't seem to be quiet the same.
  11. I'm not quiet sure Crossfire had some of the greatest. Sure it wasn't bad by no means, but greatest, meh, I never seen it. I do like Crossfire, alway have. My local dealer when I first got into audio, carried Crossfire. Second setup I ever heard was Crossfire subs and amps. And was damn loud. Was actually my first really loud setup I heard. I actually owned a few Crossfires. 15inch white basket DB. One of my favorite subs, ran it in a sealed box off 150rms, sounded quiet amazing to me as a nooob. I also ran a 12 DB3 for a few months, again, decent entryish level sub. But greatest? The old XT(2) was good for what they was, but nothing ground breaking or insanely loud. I did like the Original BMFs. I've heard countless setups with them and always thought good things about em. But this is just my opinion. Not disagreeing exactly.
  12. I think this could imply to every install. If I wanted to run a sealed enclosure with 500rms, I wouldn't think a DD 9500 would fit the bill. That doesn't mean the 9500 is total shit. Well that one reason doesn't anyways.
  13. Its not that I care, really. Just tired of people downing one product to push another and giving the wrong reason(s) in why not to use the one their dowing.
  14. Ok to start this thread off. Please do NOT post information you read from the internet where the original writer could of pulled out there ass. Just don't do it. Facts only here please. No He said she said bullshit. To get started, I was reading and come across some info. No need to get into what it was, but it lead me to really find the truth about wiring. I think there is so much bullshit being passed around as the truth its not funny anymore. WeLl I finally want to inform people of what's really being advertised, and how to draw a conclusion from that. Ok so you have 4 major types of wire talked about in the audio world. OFC Silver Tinned OFC Copper Tinned OFC CCA Basically I want to explain each one of those, and why one is better than the other. A pro and con of each per say. Also, the truth about Strand Count would be nice too. I think people get caught up comparing it when they don't understand what it fully means. I really think this could help inform a lot of people who misinform tons more on even more wrong info. I could take a stab at the answers but I'm not a 100% of my info, so therefore I don't want to state it. I guess let's give this a try, and hope it works.
  15. Also, Chris you are semi correct with your HDC3 statement being very similar to the AB XFL. Thing about it, the AB at dealer cost is quiet a bit less than the AQ. I'm not sure if you was around but a few years ago, 4-5 different company had a very similar sub to the HDC3. Konaki was one of them. From a picture they looked exactly the same. Until you got it in your hands and actually applied power to it, you realized the Konaki suspension was total shit. I can't comment first hand on how sorry it was, but from what I heard it was totally shitty. But it looked the same, yet the konaki couldn't handle any power because of the lack of quality softparts. So what's your point? Everybody needs to go on looks and not relay on a companies reputation. If so, you would of bought the Konaki, and inreturn spent more money having to buy a quality recone kit, just so your cheaper sub could perform. But only if you would of went the AQ route first, wouldn't of had to deal with all the bullshit.
  16. Nick FTW. I'm glad somebody still takes the time to explain things to ignorant people, who thinks they know it all, all because things look similar. I do find it quiet amazing just cause something comes from the same place and looks similar, then it has to be the same. ***Take a Ford Mustang. You got the base model v6 200hp Then got the Cobra 400hp They look very similar. To most people, they couldn't tell the real difference. But does that mean I can buy the v6 and expect the same performance as the cobra? Since there made at the same place, looks similar, they have to be the same, right? No. ***Example only. Just to prove a point. Numbers and stats may vary.
  17. Lol. I guess it never hurts to ask. Running at a higher impedance isn't like low impedance. Just because the manufacture doesn't have a rating at 8ohms and higher doesn't mean it can't operate there.
  18. Sure it is logical if the only thing you want in your vehicle is a box. That isn't practical for the majority of car audio enthusiasts. There are many downsides to having a huge box in your vehicle IMO. You just contradicted your whole post there, I'm thinking about buying a vehicle just to wall it, for audio only. Lol. Truth. People complain about not wanting to give up the room for 18s. Yet want the output 18s produce. If you want more room and less box, simple, go with a small size driver.
  19. No Offense Jake, but why did you have to make em ugly. I know its cause of your face but dag. Lol. Sike. You could of made of em a tad purdier for those of us who like that kind of stuff.(Purdy)
  20. Exactly. People are just fucking idiots when it comes to motors. If it looks anything similar iT HAS to be the same. Right? Bahahaha. I do like how my question on page two about DD inovation cooiling and coils was addressed.
  21. what about the fact that they use all american parts like your beloved Fi, what about the fact that they have the second largest magntizer in the U.S., what about the fact that they have incorporated cooling and coil inventions that every other company disects only to steal ideas from. to answer, no the 3500 is not worth the price. your dealer is shitting on you. my dealer sells those for 295. the 9500 or z is what you want. Please tell me what special cooling and coil innovations they have? I know your not talking about machined slots in the topplate and cross drilled holes in the former... Cause these aint special, and DD did not invent it. All this talk about motor force, but what people don't understand there comes a point where to much motor force actually decreases SPL. And those superlight cones that need a expensive CF dustcap just so it won't fold. Then when you reach a certain point have to spend even more money on a composite cone.
  22. You gain 0 by spending more. I actually like the ones I just got from them, nice and thick case with a tight fit on the rca. That said I have not had them playing, but will next weekend and I will give a review when I do. OP: sorry about your trouble, but I happen to like that they fit really snug. Wrong. Knu's are purdy. So that's one. Also, I haven't heard anything about Knu and Sundown... I thought it was Memphis, and only when used in strapping? Also, I think Sundown had the propblem fixed regardless. I've used my Knu with 3 different 1500ds, one being the first batch. And didn't have any problems.
  23. I'm not sure why people skimp on buying decent RCA's. I know people who spent 2grand in amps and using 4 dollar RCA's. I'll stick to my Knu, they don't cost that much more.
  24. I've updated mine 3 times, never lost anything. I must way instantly I liked OS6 way better. Its much faster, like double. I went from 60kb/s to 180kb/s. That's a big jump. I've seen up to 199, I'm sure 200 is reachable. I havent took the time to look around at all the features. But now on the home screen, you click the date/times and it gives you all upcoming events and such. If anybody can update, but hasn't yet, I would suggest it. I haven't found a negative yet, I'm not saying there isn't any. I just haven't noticed it.
  25. Why wouldn't they? I was about to switch from Blackberry before this update, but I think I've changed my mind.
