In a bit of a pickle...maybe?
^^x2. And as far as having things jammed in there, if it sounds good and meets your goals then I'd say don't worry about it, or make the box to fit the car better.

Thanks! I'm pretty excited about it. I'm more worried about the sunroof this time, I've been taking the mirror down when things start to get loud so I don't mess this car up .

4 18" BTL Build
Thanks! It had to rain, it took all day for that bit of fiberglass to dry . They had to drop my gas tank to replace the float, parts didn't come in, so I've been without a vehicle since tuesday. Hopefully I'll have it back by tomarrow afternoon. I'll have the port together and cut out, rounded over and all. Then when I get the truck back I'll go to lowes to get the router bits, and some more fiberglass material. After that it's putting in some terminals (bolts) and carpet. Then the subs are in! I'll still have to make an amp rack, then a baffle to go over top of everything. At least till then I can run everything off 1 amp, even off that power it should be nice for the day or so till I get the other 3 amps in. I met a friend of mine at a restaraunt yesterday, haven't seen him in forever. He's doing custom painting now, so I'm thinking of having him do something different with this box for me to finish it up nice, but I'm fresh out of ideas. Anyone with an opinion just let me know. If not it'll be just some grey carpet I have a few rolls of.

4 18" BTL Build
Okay, so I didn't much done with working on the wall for our laundry room: Putting the edges on for the removable port. I've looked at several ways of doing it, and because of the limited space in the box, I have to be able to adjust the area in order to tune lower so that I don't loose too much space So my verdict with the circle thing-- didn't work that great. I had a spiral downcut bit that broke that soon into a trial cut. I had an old piece of mdf laying around and tested it out on that. About 1/4 of the way through the circle that's what happened. I think I need to try multiple times around the circle instead of one. I'm sure it was my fault. Since they're STILL working on my car (it needed a new gas float or something) I have to go to lowes tomarrow. Thin strips I'm putting in the corners for 45s, then putting a layer of fiberglass or two over that. Finishing up the port spot. Compared to a bottle of titebond. The final port will be 8"x30". Dry fit the port outer area. This little block will be on the bottom and top so I can counter sink the threaded rod without it being seen. That's all for now, more tomarrow if I can, but I'm thinking I wont get more done till Thursday. Once I have the top on I'll lay down the layer or so of fiberglass, and by friday it should be dry and I can put in the bolts.

4 18" BTL Build
Okay, so I've been doing a little at a time for a while now, and I finally have everything together (minus the electrical upgrades- but they will be on their way shortly). I'll have to post some pics of all the equipment together in later post since I don't have it all in the same area, but heres my plans: 4 18" BTLs, 4 Memphis 4kws, and the electrical system to boot, most likely 3-4 iraggi 260s, and 6 batteries. 20ft net with interchangable ports, the main one will be tuned to 36hz (more like 36.1, but oh well) with about 240sq of port. I've been waiting to get enough pics to really start this thread, so here's my progress as of now. I'll update as progress is made, but I'd like to have everything in by this weekend. My cheap table saw, it needs a new blade but I'll say it works great for the money, and you can haul it around pretty easy. Cutting out some notches to try and get a bit more space around the equipment- not the best shot but that was cut free-hand with a jigsaw Like I said, for the money you can't ask for better cuts from a table saw. Putting the back together. Just glue and nails, a few screws will be added in but when working with pieces this big it really gives you a 3rd hand if you have to work by yourself. The rear of the box with sides I bought this circle guide from lows for around $40 to go with my old porter cable router. I'm pretty excited to use this, I simply didn't want to order a jasper jig offline, and this allows for some HUGE circles. I'll probably be doing that this evening or tomarrow, more pics later.

MTX or Kicker to power Fi Q?
^Agreed. I prefer ported myself, but it's up to you. There would be little to worry about if you built a sealed box the first time, and if you were unhappy with trying ported later on you'd have something to fall back on. If you are looking for a good bit of output (which you say you really just want good sq) I would just go ahead and tune in the 28-32hz range, and build your box around the middle/high side of the recommended size. You would benefit from the efficiency a larger box could offer if you go with with the zx1000, and no matter what you should be pleased with the sound of it. You could add some blocks to lower the internal size as well to experiment with what you prefer. Just a few suggestions, good luck with whatever you decide to do.

woot! finally broke down
Normally they don't really mess with stuff, just drop it because it's heavy I had to take my car to get worked on today (new mirrors/fog lights) and they had to keep it over night. I'm really worried they aren't going to arm the alarm and my subs and amps will be stolen (like they wouldn't be regardless). I don't know why I'm so worried about it (well, I guess I do) but I just have a feeling something bad's going to happen.

98 blazer ssd's or btls
How much power do you have to work with, and are you willing to upgrade your electrical system to handle the strain of multiple BTLs?
-
BL or BTL
i thought you meant 1 18 btl? while that amp did ok for the money i would get a bit more power regardless of the setup. and thanks on the review hope it helped.
-
BL or BTL
The BLs would have more cone area. You could always get one BTL and then get a second amp and sub down the road if it's not enough.

12" BTL
If you change the motor, and the soft parts, the basket is the same. Honestly for the bit you might save recycling the basket you'd be ahead of the game to just sell the Q and put what you get towards the BTL.

battery options
1 and 3- It can make a difference if the batteries specs are too far off. Generally it's a good idea to run the same type of batteries throughout just to prevent any issues. 2 The same good as adding a battery with an isolator, unless you like to park your car and play music for hours with the car off.
