Thanks I'm going to play with some enclosures but the purpose of this build was to save some space. I'm still within a few inches of the whole back of my truck, and I wont be happy until I do 155 @ 32Hz I've been striving for (no wall). I'll probably be changing some things around a lot in the next few months.

Any chance there could be a daily version that would do good on 2500-5000rms? I'd love to pop 4 18s back in my truck

I'm not aware of any mainstream company that sells them, but everyone I've seen with some lately went through toolmaker. Good luck.

As a rule of thumb I use 1/0 for anything over 1000 watts. 4g should still be fine for your amp, but as mentioned resistance = heat and larger wire means less resistance. Check your voltage at your amp, the dash gauge is normally off by a nice bit. What h/u are you using- with what voltage pre-outs? I had an older higher end Alpine h/u that only had 1v pre-outs. I had to turn my gain up most of the way to match it's output. I would worry about keeping that amp (measure at the amp) above 12 volts, and for the sake of your equipment turned down until you get your install completed.

I got to hear this in person today, all I can say is WOW. Excellent work for sure, really made me think about my anemic front stage. The XCONs sounded fantastic, I mean really really good. Extremely loud too Honestly I was so impressed if I was in the market for a sub in this power range they would be my next choice.

Welcome back. I had to put things on hold while my dad died from cancer almost 3 years ago- quit job/school etc to help. The physical and mental stress you go through with that is rough and I wish you and your family the best.

I want to say 3/8 stainless. They're stainless steel bolts/nuts. Thanks a lot. Yeah it was a big let down to make such a nice box compared to the old one and have this problem. Oh well, I'll chop 3 inches off, see if I like it, and if not maybe make a 7ft box for 1 21 box out of it and give it the full 10kw. Gain some cargo space for trips and stuff.

Thanks. This box is 18 ft net @ 36hz. After putting it in I'm not happy with it- it's too close to the rear gate and too big for the power I'm using. I'm reading .5 ohm nominal- so figure 10,000+ watts @ 2 ohms. Even if my rise is 2 ohms they aren't liking it. It gets really low, but not as loud as my old box. Here's a quick vid and some pics, but I wont be keeping it this way long. Also I think the bolts look ugly with that thick padding. I'm going to rethink and redo that one.

Thanks, I plan on dropping this in the truck then making trim panels to fill the gaps around the box. Sort of make it look like one big smooth surface in back. Also hoping to gain a little on the t/l, or at least the ear-o-meter.

I'm almost ready to install, I just ran out of adhesive to finish the vinyl. If I have time I'll have installed pics/vids tomorrow.

Thanks I got the birch for about $30 a sheet at a small shop in town. It took 4 sheets because mdf is 49" x 8' and this is 5x5 square. I had a lot of small waste pieces because of the size of the panels. I mainly liked the weight of it, I'd guess about 1/2 as much as mdf- I can move my box myself for the first time in years. People say the work-ability is better with birch but I don't think it cuts as well and is prone to splinter or have chunks knock out while working with the edges. Not bad but irritating when it does happen. For the price the only deciding factor in the future would be weight and dust, and if that isn't an issue I'll go MDF. I am going to try and come your way towards the end of this week. I will send you a pm in a few. Sounds great, just let me know.

Lots of pics missing from this, but subs should be in a new box tomorrow. If all goes well vids tomorrow. I have a super busy schedule but the only things left to do are sand the inside of the box, add a last coat of paint, and vinyl. Then slap it in and wire it up. Finished 45s in all the corners Started the bracing Cupping my nuts before chopping my rod down some. Test fit a sub, there's a little play but it will be taken up by the vinyl. The stickers started falling off the first few days I had the subs, so I'll probably just remove the stickers entirely. a few coats of poly to smooth things out. It'll be sanded smooth and painted tomorrow.

Time for a rebuild. I wanted a bit more low end, the current box plays down to 30hz well, but some of the c&s music I like is lower than that. I'm going from 15ft net to 18ft net, still at 36Hz but port location should drop the tuning some. Should be good until I get more power or subs. Using birch this time, just under 4 sheets total Mobile works station lol 45's sides routed an adge to tuck the vinyl Assembly This is the lip for the removable port And the port 3/4 round over Painted white and coated to be smooth put in some 45s and painted white I drilled and tested the 5/16 bolts to hold the port in 1.25" bracing just a bit more work and it will be done, I have the vinyl and padding just need to finish the wood work and messy parts

I'm still waiting on the local to come back with his Impala that I was using to make a template, as soon as I can get him to drop his car off a few more hours I should have a working bracket to test out. I know exactly what you mean about a few mm making the difference. I bet I've installed and removed the brackets I'm making now about 6 times each, so I start to see where things are a pain on the user side. I'm doing my best to make sure installation of my brackets is easy for the end user, or at the least can be done by one guy with a few wrenches. Unfortunately most likely. I wish I could say it would be sooner but the testing I put into each bracket is time consuming. Once I have a template made I do the CAD drawing and CNC out a metal prototype. Even after the first one is tested on the vehicle I like to do several more days of testing in different situations to make sure there is nothing that could be improved on. This really slows down how quickly I can design and produce new brackets, but I stand behind each one I make 100%. I can send you a PM as soon as I have a better idea of how long it will be before a bracket for your car is ready to ship out, again sorry for the wait. Troy

I'm working on a bracket for your Astro, though I'm not sure how many extra alts will fit. The Safari I'm using to get the template wont be available again for a few weeks, but I'll keep you posted as soon as I get something for you. I apologize again for any delay. I'm not sure on a time line on the Buick, I'm working on a dozen different brackets and once those are in production and tested I will start working on it. Thanks again everyone.

Are you just competing or is this your daily driver? Do you know the idle output of your alternators? I'd go by those ratings if this is your daily driver, unless you turn the volume down when the engine is below 1500 rpms. I would get the 4500s and upgrade your charging more if necessary, most likely a good starting point would be adding a 4th 3800. The 4500 would give you more headroom, so while you may have to turn the gain down, you wont be turning the amp up to the point of clipping to get that last bit of power. If you aren't sure and want to save the money the 3500s would still do a great job, I'd just make the box on the larger side of recommendations. I wasn't expecting the output they had with just rated power, just keep it clean.
