Welcome to the IHoP
IF you guys had to choose. What headunit would you choose that had optical outs for the alpine h701. I'm leaning towards the pioneer 5900 single din. The alpine iva-w505 needs a 100$ cable to hook up to the h701 which would cost about the same as me getting the pioneer piece, the controller and the h701.

Need help with box design for 2 10" Icons for a trunk of an evo
this is what the shop thats doing the install wants to do, but it just didnt seem right firing them towards the cabin and have the port the same way since my back seat would be in the way. didnt know if the port needs alot of space since there would only be like a couple of inches from it and the blockage. the center section would be ok since only the foam rear seat blocks the subs but the sides have metal from the car, although there are holes through it. also, what should the box specs be? im thinking 3cf tuned to 32hz. I would port up, honestly. Use a product called aero-ports. http://psp-inc.com/

box help for 4 12" BLs, maybe
What class are you looking to compete in? Decide that, that will decide the # of woofers you can use (at least in dB drag. After that you are going to want to use aero-ports, and build the box to the specs. From there you will be adding stuff to the inside of the enclosure to determine the most efficient volume for the woofers. You will want to use aero ports to be able to re-tune your box after you find the enclosure volume you are going to use.

Budget Setup Suggestions
And might I suggest looking for a refurbished sundown sax-100.4 from Db-r. That should be enough to get you started amp wise and leave you room for amping your upfront mids.

What do I need?... Im so lost. Please help.
You are going to want atleast a decent battery (kinetic 1800 or equivalent) Big 3 wiring upgrade And if you have the money a high output alternator (~180 amp) Probably cost around 1000 dollars for all of that. The battery and big 3 would be my first upgrades.

TEXAS BASS PRODUCTION
Hate to say this to you man. But where I come from your score talks for you. You are also not taking into account that USACI, Iasca and dB drag all have different rules. Instead of calling someone out in a forum, I think it's time to charge your batteries, freeze your motors and go head to head. Realizing that your cars are built for different organizations, compete in different classes and your vehicles are not comparable. I will bet that both of you have talent, but a ring or a certificate means nothing.

Weird Noise in Honda
A couple things to look at. Tire pressure Alignment Spark- A bad spark plug or wire. (particularly looking for a plug that is arcing or a wire that is firing down the side of the plug which you will see from the ceramic being burnt.) Basically what happens is once the current gets high enough the spark jumps down the side of the plug and you are misfiring. It is normally noticeable at a low rpm (my car was at 2400 rpm for example) once the engine is spinning fast enough to have enough inertia to pull the non-firing cylinder around it will not be as noticeable. Check your motor mounts, and as you mentioned the heat sheilding above your exhaust. If all else fails, check your brake rotors, if they aren't perfectly flat (most likely from being resurfaced or metal on metal scraping) they can actually cause vibrations.

the shop here sells the SSA Icon, and the Mach 5 IXL is either in the shop or you can get the link to there website in their section on this forum. www.ficaraudio.com for the Q.

I'm not trying to bash JL audio but the w7 is not the best woofer. It's not the end all to car audio woofers. I would be willing to say that a saz-3000d would be perfect for a pair of SSA Icons. Another sub I would look into before going the JL audio w7 route would be the Mach 5 IXL series woofers. I'm not saying that money is the issue. If the w7 and the Icon were priced the same, I would pick up the icon. I also back the sax-100.4. Every product jacob sends out from his shop is awesome, and he stands behind his products.] What are you looking for in a front soundstage?.. If you are looking for "loud &clear with an emphasis on clear" I would suggest you start reading about: Hertz, Seas, DLS, Dynaudio, Morel, Focal and boston acoustics. You have a choice, you can go active or passive. Active set-ups almost always sound better and are actually more often than not cheaper or very close in cost to a pre-built passive set of the same sound quality.

New 2008 Soundstream R1 12's
I haven't gotten a chance to look at the t/s parameters. I doubt it will have exceptional output. 12.7mm of one way excursion is rather tiny especially for a sq woofer which should be able to reproduce frequencies down to 20hz with ease. From what it sounds like they basically built a very low movement woofer. The reasoning behind a low movement woofer is to minimize the effects from a non-linear coil moving through the gap. They would probably sound good. They are soundstream though, which is why I'm trying to wade through their marketing bs to see what they are actually saying. And like most soundstream products they have that gaudy basket which makes it impossible to really see the internal parts.
