    Happy Birthday Mark!
  2. Both lpf and phase depends on your setup. Tune them to where it sounds best on your setup. SSF should be set ~5hz below tuning frequency.
  3. Pencil and paper. If it is a slot port the port needs to be in the enclosure to figure net volume, ie don't figure out port displacement and subtract it from gross volume to get net volume. You can calculate round ports separately.
  4. This is true. I never really factored current draw into the situation. Hopefully Jacob will chime in and give me some good news. I don't want to have to buy 2 100.4s lol. He is referring to the current that needs to be produced by the output FETs. FETs have a rating on how much current they can produce. If the amp was designed to do so, it would have the FETs to do it. But not being designed to do it why spend the extra money to put them in. This isn't saying the amp isn't strong but just not WAY over built.
  5. Amplifiers do not care what the ohm load is as long as it is above the minimum recommended load. Whether it be 1.33 ohms, 1 ohm, 2.66 ohm, or 2ohm the amplifier doesn't care, sure it would like higher loads so it can be more efficient but it doesn't care it it is an odd numbered ohm load or not.

I used to work at a bicycle shop. we used an air compressor, wasn't time to hit it with the pump. But have a couple mountain bike tires blow up in your face at 40 psi and don't tell me you won't be a little uneasy putting a 100psi in a tire. Really gets nerving when the rims creaking and groaning.

I used to hate putting air into tires of road bikes, the psi in those are no joke.
  8. Future reference, you can not measure resistance/impedance with power applied to the circuit.
  9. No they don't the SA-8 motor is smaller as is the coil. Sundown SA-8 Prototype Factory Picture - SSA Car Audio Forum
  10. Just write your own in excel or other spreadsheet program. V = sqrt( Watts * Resistance)

I never thought of that, I will paste the thread next time. Thank god I have good spelling atleast. I don't think he was talking about you No not directly. I really can't say who it was as I don't remember, just some things I've noticed recently and they kinda irritated me. Hence the mini rant.

So annoying when people post a link to their thread on another forum, they already copy and pasted the link. Why not copy and paste the first post. While I'm on a mini rant "hella" is not a word, quit using it. AND learn the difference between sell and sale. /rant.

hmm How exactly are you testing them? What head unit are you using, any line drivers or anything else you are using?

I noticed a protect/pop issue on mine, but then I read the manual and noticed why. Haven't had it since, don't have any noise problems either.
  16. Your serpentine belt could be slipping. You may need a new belt, maybe even a smaller belt.

The universal option machines the gap for D2 ohm coils. When using a D1 coil in a D2 gap you will loose a little bit of motor strength, but not anything to worry about when using the sub in a daily application. If you were competing seriously you'd want every last bit you can get.

When people ask if a driver can handle more power then they are rated for it comes to a certain quote that is "if you have to ask then no they won't". In the right hands the drivers may be able to handle the extra power but in a novices hands they will fry in 2 seconds. Besides the fact that putting more power then the woofer is rated for to use daily is silly, you aren't going to get any more noticeable performance to the ear but only noticeable if you measure it on a mic.
