usa50 repair
So I may have fried my black usa50 today. I turned off the car and I heard a bang. I looked and checked everything out. Amp was really hot. No electrical stink to it. I haven't tried to fire it back up to check yet I wanted to let it fully cool off. The board and everything look good from the outside. I plan to see tomorow when I get off work if it still wont turn on If it is indeed fried can I still send in the old usamps for repair. This one is from 96-97. I'm not sure if flakko can lead me in the right path on this one or not. If not I will call sometime.

FI sign in newbies too
I am getting a recone from them in the near future I do believe. Beyond that my one buddy will be needing a sub in the future and an ssd would fit his bill well.I'd be buying and building the box for it.

How to clean subwoofer motor for recone?
I got the motor cleaned off completely. Light sanding and nail polish remover cleaned it off easily. I also ordered 15" claw baskets from Tirefryr which I'm going to strip/clean, re coat, and use. Hopefully in the next day or so I will be ordering my softparts :-)

FI Decal & Shirt
They have a deal going currently that if you contribute to the forum by posting in certain ways they give you a shirt and decals. Here > http://www.soundsolutionsaudio.com/forum/i...?showtopic=7336 See them here > http://www.soundsolutionsaudio.com/forum/i...?showtopic=7714 You can probably purchase them by contacting Nick, Shawn, or Scott also. I believe all of their emails are floating around in stickies at the top.

CES merlins?
Thanks. I suppose they are selling now. Good news. I'm going to contact my supplier. I just didn't want to bother him if they weren't semi available.

CES merlins?
Are the amps that were shown at CES going to be released? Namely the merlins that are going into the old school looking sinks. I've been holding off purchasing my amp because I'd like to get one of the new merlins when it comes out to power my substage

How to clean subwoofer motor for recone?
Hmm, yea I suppose that could be a quicker way... I'll give it a try on my tc9 motor Not sure if it will get metal shavings out though. There are none in the tc9 but there was in the SE...which was partially my fault. Didn't cover the gap as I was turning out the screws on the basket. I slipped on one of the screws and then shards were in the gap. There was some smaller shavings in there too.

How to clean subwoofer motor for recone?
RE glued the basket to the motor's top plate. It was a b!tch to get apart. It looks like their black CA glue. That is the glue I am trying to get off of the motor. And yea I am getting a new basket and don't have to worry about any of the landings

I'm pretty excited too. It seems like something fun to do. It'll be nice to have something I can say I built.

merlin 2130 by us amps
Well the 2130 and 4160 boards look identical minus the components. But I wasn't sure if something in the boards layout was different. I should say I've seen a few pics of 4160s and they share the same sink and the board looks to be the same.

Your favorite headunit of all time?
I've been content with my pioneer premier 670mp. But the only other's I have owned was a old pioneer 3400 and a jensen 7" in dash dvd player.

merlin 2130 by us amps
Ok I have two of these amps. One from 93 and one from 95. I have some questions about them someone may be able to answer. These amps have different boards. I assume because they are 2 different gens. 93 is a bit more compact than the 95. Both boards have the areas where it seems more components could be added to make them 4 channel. Is this possible or just dead spots on the boards? Next, I see conflicting info around the web. I realize these are 65watts per channel at 4ohm and that it is not reccomended to go any lower. Fine, good, whatever. I am wondering if they can be bridged at 8ohm. I have not installed them yet so I cannot test them myself. I see some places they cannot be bridged and other places they can be. Just was wondering the truth The 93 is going to go into my escort to power my re audio re6.5s. The power plugs on these things are tiny. Like 10-12 gauge. I stripped some wire off of some 8 gauge I have laying around and soldered it into the terminals.

buying
I believe flakko can sell you us amps products. Not sure if SSA's shop has the merlins but they also carry us amps equipment online. They may sell to you direct but it will probably be an inflated retail cost.
