  2. i use an sa 12 in the same size box (due to space restriction) with a alpine 1k amp and it sounds great. now that i got a blazer im looking to upgrade to a ssa 15 or 2 and a stetsom 1k6es2 or bigger. the sa is a great small space sb for the price. just my opinion.
  3. keep me in mind if it falls through

  11. ya i was thinking of doing 2 xcon 12's on a 3k stetsom but wanted to see if any others had ideas or old gear first. thx for the reinforcement on the x cons... i been hearing all good about them.
  12. getting a new ride (hopefully a subaru wagon). anywho im looking to build a daily pounder might do some local shows. i was looking at a 5k2 and 2 zcons but finances are kinda tight to drop like 2k on gear. any suggestions would be appreciated or maybe someone stepped up to the evils and has a pair of 12's or 15's sitting in the basement or an old 5k amp . not hooked on ssa subs but i love the fact they are us made. looking to buy within days. sorry if its the wrong section. suggestions..tips.. tricks?
  13. keep us posted on how the new box works.im interested because im planning my next build of 2 ssa zcon 15's with a stetsom 6k5 in a subaru.ill need somone to blueprint a box for me when it comes time ;D
  14. thanks im using round ports cause its just a temp build (getting a different car soon) and wanted to try my hand at design and building (that didnt go well) guess when i get my zcons ill pay for a design due to space limits ill have to go 18x18x17high but it should work fine
  15. ok the final size if i have it right are w 32 h 17 depth 14 1 port 12" (3 external) dia 6" should be tuned to 36.59 but that increases my box volume to 3.73 ft3 will that be an issue cause sundown recommends (ported 2 ft3)
  16. ok i think i got a handle on it if i use 24" of 6 inch 5 " external i get tuning of 38 with 28 in port area.
  17. if i go 19 long and 6 dia i get 28.27in2 but tuned to 41.73 is that to high for a daily driver listening to nine inch nails? sorry for the noob questions just learning the proper way
  18. if i remove the displasment in the calculator it comes up with 24.99 hz so changed some numbers port 10" long 4" round should be 35 hz
  19. ok so much for the box tuning calculator app
  20. just trying to get some more sound in the cabin moving air would be nice but like i said its only 1 12 on a alpine m-1000 as of right now just trying to get some basics down for when i step up to some zcons till now its been slap some wood together and hope it sounds good
  21. ok im making my first attempt at a custom box. its for 1 sd12 in the trunk of a honda accord planing on sub facing back and ports facing up to go through the rear deck. plywood (no mdf at local building store) 3/4 inch depth 18" w 20" h 14" port (1) L 12" dia.3 if my calculations are right box is 2.21 ft3 tuned to 34.15 sub displacement is .10 so that should net me a 2.11ft3 box (damn i hate math) am i anywhere close? or even headed in the right direction? any input would be great cause right now its in a cookie cutter Q-logic box (1.5 ported and its starving for air) thanks guys and gals
