  1. i know i can hit higher. withour a TL i cant. and btw 45's 9/10 decrease spl. just letting you know. this was a basic box build. this isnt my end system. ill tweak it a hair
  2. good. hers some pics. pulled a 141.9 on music with about 1200rms. something like that. took 1st in my class anyways
  3. despite te gains and such. does it go into protect one extremely low volume? or even if you arent playing enything? and i know ur already having rebordd but hell j.w.
  4. anyone? box is half built!
  5. everything is cut and looks good. the only this is the port. you have it 22.5 and 6.75, that leaves the front opening 6" wide (which is right) but by going 22.5 back, it leaves the back part of th port 4" wide. can i simply fix this by cutting the 22.5 down to 20.5 and extended the 6.75 to 8.75?
  6. thnks man! verything you said sounds perfect! it all makes ense to me and i understand it. . . i think i need two full sheets in order to do it so getting them today and some more spax scres. . and some nice tighbnond 2 (:
  7. thanks man! much appreciated
  8. dude a 3d model would be awesome!! and if box height is 17, would i minus .75 for top and botton, and port height be 15.5?? or are you including a double baffle? that would make sense lol and i assumed lport as yu did and such haha
  9. awesome!! starting today!! getting a sheet and a half. . . no bracing necessary correct? and il post build pics as i go (:
  10. No i know that lol i meant dimmension wise where on the top? centered? or offset or does it not matter?
  11. I mean, I don't know what else you are looking for. It's very close to your target size, I used 32hz tuning cause you said you have it now and like it, and it has an appropriate amount of port area. Touche. . . where should the sub cutout be? obv on top but does it matter where?
  12. Would give him too big of a box and a 35hz tuning. I would do 17" tall, 38" wide, and 28" deep. L-style slot port that is 6 inches wide and a total of 30 inches wide. Do you understand how to implement L-style slot ports? Brings a tuning of about 32hz with a net cubic volume of 6.11 cubic feet and 14.5 square inches of port area per cubic feet of box. But it's obvious that you have more questions that need to be answered, but that's a basic box I would build. might start with this unless anyone else can help me out??
  13. feet and inch bro feet and inch
  14. i didnt say i want to tune to 27 hz, but play 27 hz, (my box now is tuned at 32 and i can play that low. . .and i guess i dont want to sacrifice that much, and i brought them into a program and found that freq being played thats how i know (and i play sweeps)
  15. 27hz was rough estimate and because the songs that i know that play low are around that. . . doesnt making a box smaller help the sub handle takeing more power than rms. . . im still new to car audio and if im wrong please do correct but thats what i was under the impression of. . . and my box request specs are loose because i dont have the sub yet, i dont know what tuneing and box size they tend to like thats all
  16. true, but then your not getting the most power from your amp (depending on a lot of things) but yeah, ill have this sub, box, and amp for while. . . .besides, i like building boxes (: im not crazy good yet and each time it ets better so its fun for me. . . but anyways. still looking for anyone to help much thanks!
  17. make it smaller because ill be over powering the sub. . . a lot lol.
  18. thats what i forgot is cubes!! haha im not sure to be honest, according to DC it says 6 cubes net i believe, and correction. itll be running off an american bass HD 3500 so around 1600rms and because it might take a while to get a diff amp, prob a dc 2k or 3.5k
  19. I have a DC Level 4 18 m2 on the way and i want to make the box before ite gets here (cuz im so impatient) going in a 99 grand cherokee listen to all types of music but i do like playing down to like 27 hz or so powered by an american bass HD 3500 (1600rms) id like double baffles max dim are 40 wide 30 deep and 20 tall i think that about covers what is needed. any help would be awesome! thanks guys
  20. focal a1's for that price./ otherwise nice set
  21. last box was 5 cubes cuz thats al those vvxs can handle lol (acc to kevin and the skar site). and nooo wa bigger box for these bitches (12-14 net cubes) . . . and i know amp subs and box all matter a lot! but that wasnt my original question. i asked about 5k amps, not will these handle 5k in whatever box. im simply looking for some 5k amp options in th 1k range.
  22. i mean 5k is 5k, right? it wasnt a will these handle 5k in this box cuz i know it matters then.
  23. what does box size have to do with a 5k amp?
  24. I need an amp to power 2 xcon 18's, or zcon 18's (sub choice as of now, may change but that power range) Need a good solid amp with clean power, price insnt a complete issue but pref about 1k new. dont mind strpping two smaller amps, and im a fan of dual power/ground inputs. suggestions? car is 99 jeep grand cherokee subs are as stated most likely 2 xcon 18's or zcon 18s ""SQL"" kinda of set up plays music, very loud. will have big 3 and singer 250a alt, and xs 6500 under hood, maybe some d3100 in the back.
  25. two projects with the skar and other subs. this is my first design and kinda has no purpose. constructive is good so thanks m5. i didnt know what exactly to may for these. I am jumping to different subs, but i may do 1 more skar for sake of in the mean time. and picked the volume because on skars site its rec 3 cubes each max. so i thought more port area per foot was good. . . and chose the length to lower tuning
