  1. As far as I know, yeah. I have the positive wire running to the left VC, and the negative wire running to the right VC on the sub. From that I have a connecting wire going from one negative to the other and same for the positive. Is that the right way? I must not be hearing distortion... is it a really noticeable sound, or does it take a trained ear? that's exactly why I think it's underpowered. It already shakes my rear-view mirror and my driver's side mirror, so I figured that was all it would do... -John
  2. I don't think mine are getting enough power from my SAE-1000D cause they sure don't have as much excursion as those in the videos -John
  3. Check out page 3 of my build thread for videos of the ICON in action -John
  4. Here's 2 video's of the ICON in action. First song-Late Nite Tip by 3-6 Mafia Next song- Don't Make Us by Da Great Yola and DJ Unk sorry for the length of the second video, I forgot how long the intro was... and for some reason the digi cam didn't focus when I tried to show my truck at the end. I used the new 50Hz test tone today and I set the sub to what I thought was distortion, but again I'm not sure. There's like 2 or 3 points where to sub seems to make a step-up with loudness even when I move the gain knob very slowly. I set it to the highest one where the SSA logo really jumped from a smooth motion to a more wavy type, and the sound got funky again. Is there anyone on these boards in Austin that could help me with setting the gains so I know for sure. I'm scared to f*ck something up... but I don't smell voice coils or anything -John
  5. I regret being talked into buying an overpriced useless amp at a local audio shop -John
  6. I kinda just want to buy one and hide it in my closet... great price -John
  7. How hard are these to install yourself? Is it just basic wiring, plug and play that sorta thing? -John
  8. So tempting... Besides remote start and a small display screen, what are the advantages of the 7900 over the 3002? Does remote start really make your starter go bad faster, or is that a hoax? -John
  9. yeah I was trying to avoid spending alot of $$ and getting mids and all that, but I'm starting to hear every flaw in the BLOSE system so I know I'll upgrade eventually. I'll probably wait till Christmas break, so I'll have a lot of time to research and figure out everything cause I don't know hardly anything about front stage stuff... cars are too addicting... I got out of the Honda scene to save some money and I'm still modifiying haha -John
  10. ok, thanks alot -John
  11. I have an ICON 12" with a SAE-1000D So for normal music, the sub would never drop below 30Hz? I've heard it hit some pretty rumbley notes and the sub sounds like it's struggling, so I figured that was over-excursion. I'll probably set my LPF to 60Hz cause I listened to the 80Hz and that's way to high for me... thanks for the help -John
  12. Tell me if this sounds good. I'm going to use a 27Hz test tone to tune for the subsonic freq, by turning the knob down until I can't hear the tone, then turn it slightly back up. I figured 27 would be good since the box is tuned for 34hz, right? I was gonna play a 60hz and an 80hz and tune somewhere in between to see how high I want the sub to play. I hate high notes being played in a sub, it makes my head hurt. I actually found some test tones on Napster from Bass Mekanik, so there won't be a discrepency on volume from my daily listening music. Let me know what you think -John

wow. that's some sick and twisted chit -John
  14. Where's a good place to get test tones at? I need like a 27Hz for the subsonic tuning, and both a 60Hz & 80Hz for LPF -John
  15. Didn't a new Mag just come out, or am I making stuff up? -John
  16. Why would you buy something called 'Fatmat' in the first place? Call the CC company and see if you can get the payment stopped, or reversed -John

  23. I love the ICON... I told a buddy I worked with about the new audio install I did this weekend, and after I told him it was just 1 12" woofer he laughed and said his 2 12's would be way louder than mine. He said what kind of subs they were and I'd never heard of them, and they were in a probox in the back of an ext. cab S-10. Well today he got in my truck and I played the Intro to Speakerboxxx by Outkast for him and he quickly changed his mind... He said the ICON is just as loud as his set-up if not louder, but so much cleaner and sounds more full than his which is really what I was going for. I'm also amazed at the output from low volumes of the sub. I noticed that when I have the remote bass knob turned 1/4 of the way from minimum, the bass still makes my rear-view mirror get blurry. I like to listen to the sub at that level for daily music, but having the remote knob makes it fun cause I can turn it up if need be for the ICON -John
  24. badass band
