Okay so apparently we are being flooded with
u know what stefanhinote, with all this keyboard commando energy flowing thru SSA the last couple days... If we could ONLY get it in the chatroom, WHERE IT BELONGS rather than wasting bandwidth and posting it in forums.

seriously though, this will probably double once this topic gets locked.

Funny how only the people from FL aren't taking this thread as a joke haha.. Rival904- MECA doesn't organize all that much in FL, hence why I run it here... 05blackneon- Hmm. looks like u fail for 4 reasons- 1- i wasn't the only person in my class 2- i am not an amateur competitor 3- your opinion isn't based on anything other than complaining for no reason 4- your 2nd point made no sense.. i guess this should be common practice to expect from your posts. and most importantly, it's funny how you guys like complaining, i just sit back and laugh. The most recent build that was done by me did over a 156 below 30hz on just 2 18s under 7kw on the dash outlaw. Yea.. real amateur... Funny thing is the build was just done off of number crunching and experienced info for the one building it. But you won't see me combating any of you all because i have nothing to prove. IT's already been proven.

Wanna hear something funny. I typically go down to florida every year to stay with my cousins for a week. Also, when i go down there, i have a new setup in my car so they can check out for a week. I haven't been able to go down to FL this year because i'm currently building something but last year, I stopped by Spring Break Nationals on my way down for 2hrs and decided to front up the $100 to compete in MECA. I ran, 1st place then i left and went to my cousins.

187 10's sealed?
And you must be firm with these people. Don't make their problem become your problem. Tell them how it is- If you want more low end, they need to lose a sub. Tell him to sell it, use it for something else, etc... You could add polyfill to the ported box but i can tell u that the most audible thing that's going to do is just absorb the higher end making it "appear" their is little more low end. You're not a magician. If we could all run the smallest boxes possible and get the best output below 30hz would we all be geniuses.

187 10's sealed?
if u didnt like 3 in 3cuft.. simple solution- Drop it down to 2 10s in 3 cubes net. Problem solved.

running 2 layers of 0 gauge wiring?
one. 1/0 that long is plenty for an install like that.. Don't overkill unless you are competing seriously.

steve's anti-cliiping device
well then, besides the fact the user has to keep an eye on the battery all the time on that thing, nick found something interesting to use.

steve's anti-cliiping device
the manual link doesnt work but i'm curious about that oscope.. I can't find what's the max voltage it can read up to? This is very important dependent on exactly what amp(s) you are trying to setup... Also, from the comments i was reading.. looks like users will be replacing LI batts in that thing quite often as there is no low voltage protection which damages the battery if let drain all the time.

WHAT SHOULD I POWER 2 12'S FI BTL WITH ??
no, they are just flat out loud, they aren't suited for smooth response.

18v+ regulator for 390XP
Rob told me a while back that i need to pay little extra to have a true 18v regulator installed on my alt. How much is it for starters and is it still internal i hope? 2nd, for safety sake, i'll have 6 25a stepdowns in the car to run it on 12v still.. But, if i purchase the VCM, can i still safely step the regulator down to ~15v if i ever had to bypass the stepdowns?

Mark, I'm reaching out to you buddy....
to be technical, external ports tend to produce up to a full db louder on the meter. For daily, unnoticeable. Why do they get louder? Less turbulence in the box from obstruction of air flow.

2001 Chevy Astro....Custom Install!
haha, my build log here on SSA is one of the largest on here. I'm just not posting anything in it yet until i get near done. Everything is being posted on another forum though.. u know which one that is.

Mark, I'm reaching out to you buddy....
unless your port is going to be external, you need a larger box.

2001 Chevy Astro....Custom Install!
i have the flooring cut out and ready to be anchored- I dare somebody with a Scion tC to make a floor any wider than that! 55 5/16" wide! That took a while to get just right.

Anyone good with photoshop?
i think i see a manufacturer defect on the front left wheel.. it looks... handmade, lol

NSPL TRUCK/SUV1801-3600 World Record. 152.1Db@49 Hz, 3157 WATTS OF CLA
Cheating can be done in any organization. A response like that makes me feel leary about how people's conscious really is when competing... And what are you talking about? I never said anything about complaining about rules? What rules are u even talking about, not that i even care... You take things too seriously for some reason. An example is laid out and you think i'm complaining about a setup that i supposedly own, lmao... Sorry.. but u are WAY misunderstanding now.. And like i said now for what.. the 3rd time? Just wait til i post up my own numbers and prove what is happening. You may want to absorb some knowledge from this forum rather than going against it. measurements are done for SPL which measures peak from amps... If you knew anything about how pressure sensors measure pressure.. here is a secret- These sensors do not read in split second peaks !!!!! Yep that's right... They do not. They take multiple samples per second and average them together in realtime and give you your score. 1.5-2 full seconds is ideal to get your best score if time is a concern( like running in a fused class) So, peak readings are.. pointless. And why are my readings fluctuating? hmm., obviously it's not because of my electrical? Why must you assume i'm measuring my own setup? Assumptions almost always lead to the wrong answer and in your case, it did. ANY setup i have ever measured is like this.. it's common sense or at least it is for me since it's as common as fillin up your tank when it's low on gas. We don't live in a theory based world, real world has variables. Now, i do not know why you tried to change this topic over to try and virtually attack examples with false assumptions but i am trying to help you all understand that you are actually putting out less power which would be a good thing i would have thought.. Now it's done been blown out of proportion which makes no sense to me...

NSPL TRUCK/SUV1801-3600 World Record. 152.1Db@49 Hz, 3157 WATTS OF CLA
if u are going by actual power, then i would still say 1800w max per sub of this example is still extremely excessive and power compression will still set in. Who else would know other than either Fi or someone who can provide actual pressure readings with power.. PC is pointless, but my point still stands. I'll get numbers and show what really happens in a couple months from now.

NSPL TRUCK/SUV1801-3600 World Record. 152.1Db@49 Hz, 3157 WATTS OF CLA
you misread... IT's 2 SSDs on 2 3500Ds.. that's 3500w per sub, not 1800w. Also, in order for people like us to get average readings for output power just using a multitude of dmms and ammeters, i have to hold constant for around 5sec minimum for numbers to stay constant. I've seen some pretty massive fluctuations before, hence why i never use peak hold... Whenever i get my setup built, if i remember, i'll post up some of my numbers.
-
How many amps can pass through 1ft of 1/0
interesting but who's got a DMM that's very accurate in the thousands? No matter how long of wire i've used in the past, even if it's 50ft, measuring resistance is just 0.000 so can't use mine, lol.

LEAKED INSIDE "DD" INFO!
VERY INTERESTING... Do you know how hard it is to get a 3db increase by doubling power in the real world? It's not easy for a full 3db.. Next question is.. do you know how hard it is to continue to get 3db increase even if you are running over 8x the actual clamped power through power compression?

LEAKED INSIDE "DD" INFO!
yea ur right, it was on the SPL motor, forgot bout that.. I have actually talked to Rusty bout 1 week ago about if i should put the SPL motor on my subs i'll be orderin soon and he todl me that motor has been discontinued. I asked why? He said because they always continue to revise their product lines to make them better, more efficient... they are currently in the process of modifying the current stock XL motor to still have a pole vent but be as efficient as the SPL motor was without an increase of cost to the customer! He said it's been taken a while. Prototypes probably won't even be available til late summer. Market-wise, ETA is far from known.

LEAKED INSIDE "DD" INFO!
i dont know their insides.. it's an extreme vehicle.. I do know sub swaps showed the XL was louder than a 99z but that's a nono way of comparing subs.. They run 24kw to an XL and clamped ~ 12.2kw actual power. I remember this setup, pretty crazy... It did a 154.x at 39w clamped, lol. Pretty efficient.

LEAKED INSIDE "DD" INFO!
i clearily meant it the way i typed it. This is their attempt at the first 180db ever from a DC Soundlab sub. In A-Team's testing, they can do a 178.x with a standard paper cone before it rips to shreds... They are awaiting some sort of custom composite cone for these dc subs they will be using for both vehicles.. the 1 sub burp and the bassrace install.
