  1. I am going to build an enclosure for my 2 Havoc 18's in my 07 mazda cx-7. Each will be run off an saz-1500d, probably strapped. I have a few questions, as I suck at ported boxes. I have calculated total gross of 12.34 cu ft. I assume this is enough for 2 Havoc 18's? I actually want to do a "convertable" box. I want to run sealed for daily, and have a port package to run for spl. I am thinking to run with aeroports, as these will work in my mind to be easily removable. Suggestions or ideas? I want to tune relatively low(in the 20's to 30's) for the ported part of the build. Suggestions or ideas? Can I use a TL on my setup right now to find my resonant freq and tune the new build accordingly, or does the resonant freq change when my build changes? Right now, I am running a single Havoc 18 sealed @ 5.69 gross~ approx 4 net. I have major flexing, but doesnt hit a meter worth a crap. Hit 139.7 legal last year. I am hoping to get a ~10db gain by going with this build, am I being unrealistic? If I posted in the wrong forum, feel free to move it, I posted here to hear from the wonderful, amazingly intelligent folks at FI/Ascendant. My main questions are with the build itself, I know a db gain is hard to estimate, but I figured approx 6db for doubling power and woofers, and another 4 for porting... or am I all screwed up? Thanks, Rob
  2. I havent ported it yet, I am getting another one, and also another 1500d, THEN I will port it SQ ia amazing, it drop so low that your bowels will do this:
  3. I paid 369 shipped when it came out.
  4. Hmmmmmmmmmmm......... Looks just like mine......... Grats!
  5. Is a good buyer, paid when promised, no funny stuff on reciept of the 701 combo. I would do business with him again. cx-7heaven (Rob)
  6. I also pm'd you Brian about a Havoc 18 d2. Thanks
  7. I bought an ascendant audio(FI) havoc 18 new about 10 months ago. It's rated at 1250 rms, and it takes a sundown 1500 d all day long, still going strong. Very good company, am looking to buy another one soon.
  8. I have the havoc 18, Here is the review I wrote when I bought it: http://www.soundsolutionsaudio.com/forum/i...c=11184&hl= It is still going strong off my saz-1500d. If you have q's ... lemme know
  9. You have a range of .03 cu ft in displacement there. I wouldnt worry about it, you'll never get it perfect.... hell, the wiring will probably take up .03!
  10. It's an fi q with a triple stack magnet. The extra magnet will only make something like a .001 difference in driver displacement. Mounting depth is 10 inches.
  11. Should be... when you can find some let me know!
  12. I have a havoc 18, and I tracked mechanical noise to tinsel slap. I have a saz1500d on mine, and I get some seriously disgusting excursion, and never bottomed it. I have freaked out some people that have been into car audio a while with the stroke of this bad boy!! I tried wrapping my tinsels in carpet that was glued together, but it fell off. I am still trying to figure out how to get rid of my slap.
  13. Should I ground every rca to the chassis then?
  14. Can you do a sundown logo top to bottom with an Ascendant Audio mountain logo in background? That would be NIPS!! If so I'll buy a couple.
  15. Thats what I built mine for as well, and it does that very nicely!
  16. Well, FWIW I hit 138.7 with 1 18 havoc sealed in an suv with a saz-1500d. I would imagine you would be quite a bit louder.
  17. Duke, I dont suppose that you're going to make it to SBN this year huh? If so, I would love to hear that setup of yours, I've been thinking about going ported on mine, but I dont want to lose the awesome transient response I have right now.
  18. Yeah, I'll look at it tonight. The pioneer decks are famous for that stuff from what Ive heard. I understand the fix is to ground the rcas to the chassis. Do you think that would work for the 701? BTW the hiss is loud to me, but you can only hear it when volume is up quite a ways, and I found it when I was listening to the iasca sq disc, the track where the music fades away.
  19. The hissing is coming from the toslink.
  20. Ok, update time. I ran an rca, and it works, I just have to go into the setup menu and switch inputs if I want to listen to radio. I think I'm REAL close on my eq/xover ass well. My stage is up in the middle of the windshield from the upper 1/4 of the dash, and hardly drops all the way to the sides. My sub blends very nicely now, overall I am very impressed with this thing. I have only one problem. When I had my 2 100.2's running dual mono, I had very little hiss. Now that I am running each in stereo, which in turn dropped the power, I have alot more hissing. My gains are not very high(maybe 1/3 of the way up), it's not rca related, I think it's just my amps. My thought is to get another pair of 100.2's and run 1 amp to each speaker, unless there is some kind of noise filter/ component that will help me out. Any advice guys?? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
  21. What kind of car? I have an 18 firing up in my '07 cx-7, works fine for me. Tried it firing back, sounded great, but really started shaking the hell out of the hatchback.
  22. Well, the 701 is in, and I am amazed at the control I have. I still have some tuning to do, probably for the next month or so! Found some nasty rattles in my doors (gotta love that eq). One question that I think I know the answer to. I have a fiber optic running from my h/u to the 701, and it plays fine on cd(havent tried dvd, but I will assume it works good too). When I switch to FM, no sound. Do I have to run an rca for the radio too? Also, on time alignment: I am running 2way active fronts. The way I read the manual is that I measure distances between the closest and farthest to my head, and then add time alignment only to the closest side... does that sound right? As it stands, I have 1.15 ms to my left tweet, and 1.10ms to my left woofer. I ran out of time tonight, but I think I may add a few ms to the right tweet as well. Any advice would be appreciated. BTW, thanks Neon for the tip on monoprice, awesome deal.. $4.73 for a 12ft fiber optic cable!!
  23. I just pulled the trigger and the 701 and the controller are on the way. Wiring wise, I should only need to get a fiber optic cable, right? I have 5 sets of nice rca's, so I'm covered with that I think.
  24. It's hard to say, I havent personally played with an rlp18, and I don't know what kind of gain you get by going ported. My setup only hits 138.5 legal, and that with an AA havoc 18, and an saz-1500 d@1 ohm. If I were to go to 2 18's and double the power, but staying sealed I wouldnt expect more than 6 db in my setup.
