  1. Also Fs on the tweet is 850hz, so I should maybe look at ~1700 hz for my xover point?
  2. Yeah Neon, I'm getting the controller too. I was thinking about starting high and going down. As far as the xover frq is concerned, it freaked me out a little as well when the tech told me that. I even asked him if he was sure, and he said yes, that is where the tweet is highpassed at. I'll probably end up somewhere in the 1.2-2k range on it. Should I let the woofer roll off naturally, or play with the low pass on it too? Thanks for any help guys.
  3. You may not gain any spl, or you might even lose a little by going sealed, but I think that your bass will definitely tighten up, and sound much better overall.
  4. If you've got the room, sure. It's just that much more power for your system.
  5. What kind of power are you pushing to those things? I have to assume that this is not your first system, so what were you wanting when you got the 18's? Were you wanting to be heard from 12 blocks away, or do you just want a very bass heavy LSQ type system. Those 18's should get very loud sealed with the recommended power, I have an AA Havoc 18 sealed, and it's a low end beast.
  6. I'm just about ready to buy a H-701. I have a pair of sundown sax-100.2's running dual mono to my Diamond d-971 components(~400 rms per side). I wonder if I should stay with the passive xover or go active... I have the capability to easily switch between the 2 when I get the processor. Also, I just got off the phone with Diamond, found out that the tweet is crossed at 850 hz, but he said that the woofer has no upper cutoff freq. If I do go active, Where should I set the freqs, I want to try and keep the tweet as low as possible to bring my stage up. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  7. Also, on a side note, the p880 prs... Pioneer says it can run a dvd player. If you hook up a dvd to it, does it use the 880's dacs, or the dvd players? And will all the sound come through the 880 so I could use the eq's, xovers etc?
  8. I'm in the market for a new processor, and I'm hoping a new one came out, or got updated. Any news?
  9. I hear the 100.2 puts out around 110-120 per channel @ 4 ohms. I'm running mine dual mono, so I get ~400 per side to my comps.
  10. To the op's original question: I decided to go with 2 100.2's. I wanted more power than the 100.4 could give me, also, if you have a processor and want to go active, IMO, the 100.2's are more versatile. Downside is more room used, more wire.
  11. I would have to buy the controller/palm with either unit. I do have optical out though, the reason I was leaning towards the alpine is to use the dac on it, rather than the one on my jvc. I'm sure the Alpine dac is of a much higher quality.
  12. I want to install a processor, Have seen the 701 in action(didnt get much play time tho). I have not been able to screw around with a 360. Does anybody have any experience with these two units? I was leaning towards the alpine, mainly for the digital input. Is the digital that important, or not? Thanks for any help
  13. Just wanted to give a public thank you for the amazing customer service!! The amps showed up today, a couple days before I expected them to. I will always give you the first shot at any audio business I may have in the future( and I know I will;)). Just got my 2 sax-100.2's to go with my saz-1500d. I'm gonna try to run them in dual mono to my Diamond d-971 components, I think that will drop my noise levels wayyyy down, and really help my staging/imaging as well. Again, Jacob... THANK YOU!!!
  14. I've heard them before, they don't sound wierd to me, but I wasnt able to a/b it either. Sounded fine though.
  15. Hehe, Ramos, thats funny. I just looked through the rules again, but nowhere does it state what equipment I can and can't have. Still waiting for an answer I guess.
  16. Ok, with your scenario, the only thing that would change is efficiency of your amp, and current draw. Here is why people go to very low ohms: Say you have a 2 ohm sub, 1000 rms rating and an amp that does 1000 at 2. You decide later on that you want more bass, so you add another sub. That gives you a 1 ohm load for your amp to drive. Hopefully, your amp would be 1 ohm stable at this point. The perfect amp would double it's power every time you cut the ohm load in half. So the same amp that was doing 1000@2 will do 2000@1. Twice the power, twice the sub=more bass!
  17. I am running rookie sq in iasca. I was wondering if they have any rules in the sq division regarding vehicle builds. Specifically on caps, # of amps, wiring. I know they do for idbl, but I cant find anything on their website about sq builds. Thanks for any help.

Also, I remember Jake saying that he personally tests each and every refurb/used amp before he puts it up for sale.

  21. Devildriver, you know anything about this?
  22. Ok guys, maybe you can help me. I have an '07 mazda cx-7. It has a "pd drive" alternator setup. What it does is go through the computer, and the comp decides where and how much amperage to send out. What would happen if I go from the alt positive directly to the batt positive, in effect bypassing the computer? BTW the info on the pd drive is straight from the owner of ohio generator. Thanks for any help
  23. I own one, have it sealed at ~4 cu ft. 14-16 sounds entirely too big, also according to all the calculators I've seen, the EBP shows it to prefer sealed rather than ported boxes. Good Luck
  24. I'm running a 1500d to a havoc 18, and it is a very good match.
  25. That's disgustingly powerful. Absolutely SICK!!!!!!!!
