That's how Fi used to ship things. My 2nd generation BTL came exactly like that except for particle board on bottom and top with the 4 2x4s on the corners and then the sub sat on foam and more foam surrounded the cone. Kinda shitty they stopped shipping 'em that way. That is how the ZCON and I'm assuming the SP4 come.

I think he means check his vehicle at home, not his actual home theater. I thought the same thing at first too.
The only accurate way is to use a TL. The SPL labs meter is said to be fairly accurate as well.
