Careful planning of where you position speakers...and lots of time spent in fine-tuning crossover points and EQ curves to get to the final sound. The whole idea is to present a clear and coherent image in front of you, just like you'd get if you were at a live concert. Not just having something that's "loud and clear", having lots of undistorted output is great but without the spatial part it's useless... All in what he's looking to get out of it. If he's just looking to impress people that don't care about having a good stereo image, then he's certainly spent a lot of money to do something that could be done for cheaper. As for head unit, the more experienced members here on SSA, who have been through a good number of head units, tend to learn towards Pioneer/Eclipse/Alpine. I personally prefer Eclipse, but also have a Pioneer. And yes there are adapters for double din openings, unless you wanted to move to an double din head unit. I will comment on one thing, who ever said Fi subs are over priced, does not have a clue at all. They are factory direct.

My Orion has been trusty and done me well for a long time. I do tend to run it at 4 ohms, and sometimes at 8 ohms, but I am not the norm.
