why do they have to be that big? Those speakers actually require an enclosure that big? Hoffman's Iron Law. If you want lots of output with not a lot of power, and the speaker you're using doesn't have a lot of linear travel...there's going to be some big peekas goin' on. You can run Eminences (and Fostexes, for that matter) in bookshelf sized enclosures, but they wouldn't have balls in the midbass. oh well cool! Love your desk top speakers. Well there has been sucess lately from people going with small boxes with external ports and running a ton of power. They are trying to fight impedance rise that usually occurs with larger boxes, but they again you gain efficiency. There are always give and takes that you can only know through testing. The ICON does seem to favor a slightly larger box then most, but does well in small box installs for normal appications. I have not done too much SPL work with the ICON because that was not its intended design, but it can get loud. We need to invest in a TermLab in the future and I have more info then.
